  1. Spider From Mars stopped the Council and Skyraiders from getting their hands on some experimental raygun. Stopped Mangle (npc villain) from manipulating those organizations to get his hands on the gun. Stopped Hollow Point (npc vigilante) from grabbing it. then stopped poor Frostfire (npc villain from very early CoH - oh the nostalgia of fighting him over a decade ago in my first team mission) from handing the gun over to Longbow (definitely not SHIELD) to turn over a new leaf. Sold the raygun on the black market. And that rehabilitated Spider From Mars from Villain to Rogue. Now I am the kind of villain who helps out the heroes when needed but betrays them on the way and runs off with the Tesseract. So I took the opportunity to head over to Paragon City. Beat up some Tsoo, Freakshow and Warriors. One of the civilians being mugged told me the city needed more people like me. Made me wonder if he had heard of the Mayhem missions I had been doing. Or nay of the other villain missions. People have short memories.
  2. Joined a Strike Force in City of Villains tonight. Hadn't teamed in over a decade in this game. It was as hectic and chaotic as I remember. Maybe more so. I haven't gotten the hang of the Arachnos Soldier archtype yet, so not sure what my role is on a team. Maybe I need to level up Aconitine instead. You always know what you are doing with a Thugs/Poison mastermind - keep your enemies poisoned while your gang fills them with lead. That said, the Strike Force went well. And just as we were saying good night, a zone event triggered and we got swamped with near endless hordes of zombies. Great way to end the night.
  3. If you do try it, you will be presented with the choice to either make a Freedom character or a Going Rogue one. Freedom you create Heroes or Villains in the main timeline/reality, Going Rogue you create a character in an alternate Earth/Mirror Universe who isn't classified as either yet. The confusing bit for Heroes and Villains is that the new launcher doesn't really tell you which archetype (think class) is which So Brute, Stalker, Dominator, Corruptor, and Mastermind are Villains, with the two Arachnos archetypes being the bonus classes originally unlockable by reaching max level as a villain. The others are heroes, with the two Kheldians (Peacebringer and Warshade) being the unlockable hero classes. Characters starting in Praetorian Earth can't be Arachnos or Kheldian because history didn't go that way in that reality. Story wise City of Heroes gives the best understanding of the setting. City of Villains was the first large (paid) expansion so to a large extend builds on that, and focuses more on Arachnos, while expanding on other stories where in a way it assumes you already know the basics. Going Rogue then gives the mirror universe setting, which in theory would be more interesting to someone who already knows who is who, so you get a shock value of seeing the good side npcs being bastards All storylines merge, and eventually everyone gets to meet everyone regardless. And when people refer to Blue/Red they are talking about Hero/Villain content respectively.
  4. Since Shady showed interest in City of Heroes, here is me earning the Shady badge in game
  5. The game opened up on Private Servers open to the public. Being European my characters are on Reunion (EU), naturally - more so since I used to play on Union back in the days. Graphically the game hasn't aged all that well obviously. But the old mmo gameplay actually works.
  6. Flying? Two of my City of Villains characters do that. The third got teleport instead. It's just so nice to click on the horizon and appear there.
  7. My biggest problem with choices is that I do not trust game writers to have reasonable results. I could go into a long rant about how good and bad are equally valid and everything is gray really, is an idiotic, cowardly and selfish stance that paves the way for evil men, but I'll save that for when I am not eating ice cream. Suffice to say, if we went with Kotor II Kreia logic, all mothers should be tried for conspiracy to commit murder, as none of their children would die if they hadn't given birth to them in the first place.
  8. It's part of northern European culture really, hailing from romanticism, where a journey to the south was part of coming of age for those who could afford this. As the world was a smaller place up until recently, it was "easier" to find people to take a person in, so much more so since that person might be the most up-to-date source of news from home. In school we had to read Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aus_dem_Leben_eines_Taugenichts The main character reminds me of the beg packers in a way. With the internet we don't need to take someone in to speak our language outside the immediate family. Athens has been seeing it's share of beg packers. Not a fan. But the issue should not be mixed up with the homeless problem.
  9. City of Villains. Started an Arachnos Soldier and trying to get her to level 20 so I can go rogue, betray Arachnos and turn hero. The character is called Spider from Mars. She'll start her path towards redemption out of lingering guilt over smashing Ziggy Stardust's sweet hands.
  10. God, games where you need to make choices. Loved them when I was young(er), quit them for several months now whenever a choice comes up
  11. You get the email. Also when looking at a game on the store, the store shows you a list of friends who own the game, but also who has wishlisted it. And yes, when you look at a person's profile, you can check their wishlist, so you can use that to plan presents. This should be mine for example: https://store.steampowered.com/wishlist/profiles/76561198007554934/#sort=order
  12. I am at 51, as I trim my wishlist down when I notice I won't get the games anyway.
  13. They mentioned something that with Assembly some of the mount/vehicle options will be to transplant the hero's head onto other bodies? That will be fun.
  14. Age of Wonders 3 is free for a limited time on Steam
  15. I like the Dvar space dwarf look. There have been too few space dwarves in strategy games. Actually there hasn't been enough space fantasy with elves, dwarves and orcs and goblins, since Warhammer 40K decided to become serious and grimdark (and mostly badly written drivel ). But Amazons have dinosaurs with lasers. What can compete with that?
  16. Here you mix races with "secret technologies" instead of classes. I'll be playing from day 1 though, so I'll let you know impressions asap.
  17. Reminding people of the factions we are looking forward to: Amazon: Assembly: Dvar: Kir'Ko: Syndicate: Vanguard: What will you choose?
  18. Torment I get as far as the first city and always quit there. Modern games have me worried that I might not be able to rest whenever I like. So I don't rest, which means I don't replenish my whatever. I don't even know if Torment has an issue with me resting, but since so many games seem to do, I get fatigued with all RPGs nowadays before even finding out if they have a system that would fatigue me.
  19. 75%? Defiance story was 100% that. NPCs talking and the PC standing around waiting to shoot stuff. I enjoyed that story.
  20. Rogue Factor are so slow developing that, I am afraid I may have died of old age by the time I could spam you with screenshots of that...
  21. And now for something completely different:
  22. That sounds so Funcom... Secret World was good until you had to put up with the gameplay.
