  1. Narrator is cast. Can't remember his name, but he was cast quite a while ago. I'm sure someone will post a link below.
  2. Original Sin funded less but was made for a few hundred thousand more than Eternity. No way a game that good is made for $890k. I believe they've stated that the budget for Original Sin was at least $5 million. Also, see TrueNeutral's comment about shadows. Very important stuff.
  3. I think i remember playing a boxing game where you could do that.. And Die By The Sword or whatever the game was called. Pretty sure the sword moves there were entirely controlled by the player, and the game was from... 1999? Edit: 1998. Found gog.com link: http://www.gog.com/game/die_by_the_sword_expansion
  4. Hammer head is maybe too big in either picture? But other than that I love them both. Really great job by the artist.
  5. Do we know the setting and timing of the Novella? Has it been said that it takes place concurrently with the main story? A year prior? A thousand years prior? We know nothing.
  6. It's pretty hard to answer when we have no indications of it whatsoever. I'd say the best bet at the moment is to presume that it will all be delivered at the same time.
  7. You should probably contact support through the eternity.obsidian.net website. If it's not a support question but related to the game, your best bet is to ask it here on the forum. If it's public knowledge, we'll know it. If it's not public knowledge, emailing the devs isn't going to get you an answer (unless you're with a paper or other media outlet).
  8. I sort of agree. I do think Sensuki has a point when saying that the team (presumably) wants feedback from us backers, but at the same time we on this forum have a slight tendency to go super-nitpicky and into the smallest details. I wouldn't mind reducing the size and prominence of the shockwave in the knockdown move, but I don't see it as a huge deal either. So while I didn't really notice it while watching it the first time, I do see how it's something that might be annoying when you use the same ability dozens of times over the course of the game. All in all, yes nitpicky, no not perfect. Which is what our complaints really boils down to, no?
  9. Watch the Giantbomb quicklook. Towards the end of the video Josh makes a death godlike fighter and uses knockdown on wolves and hunters. There is the wave effect, which is accompanied by a slight orange glow, but it's very different from Calisca's flame effect added by the torch.
  10. You could also wait until an Early Access version is out on Steam and get that.
  11. I'd totally back that. I'd also back Chris Avellone's Hatemance with Elf Genocide RPG Experience. Either one would be acceptable projects.
  12. Honestly, I feel as though a lot of the things they could've done very different, where they could have chosen to do some weird and very non-standard stuff, but didn't, they did because of their initial campaign and their backers. Many of these conservative decisions were probably made because many backers wanted a more standard fantasy game. A game with these elementals, kobolds, and mindflayers. But can you imagine the **** Obsidian would get if they went full on weird? I mean, they've been getting **** for as small things as including guns in the game and not having a super-macho, bulky, beefy male warrior companion.
  13. Perhaps I'm being cynical but changing physical rewards to digital means less expense for their publishing "partners" even though backers (a.k.a. "old-school box collectors") like myself spent hundreds of dollars, above and beyond, for those physical pieces... I HATE digital downloads/ rewards/ etc. It stinks of being cheap and really not having the person own it. Yes, the core game matters most but I, and others I'm sure, put in a lot more than most would pay for any game with the promise of certain extras. Just disappointed but we'll see what else changes before release... You're not being cynical, you're being tinfoil-hat-conspiracy-nut-cracy whose convinced that the profits of a tangentially relevant publisher is to blame for Obsidian wanting to deliver the best content they can to us, their fans, even if that means changing the method of that delivery. Regardless as to their actual motive for "changing the method of delivery", it is a change from what was originally promised and people paid for. Those who choose digital only could care less, I get that, but many spent much larger sums for promised physical rewards. I've backed many games on KS because of the promise for a return to "old school" games including the promise of "old school" boxes full of feelies/ trinkets/ extras that we used to get back in the day. I'm just one of those grumpy old gamers that doesn't feel like I own anything that is digitally delivered. I want the physical boxed game on my shelf. And you're getting the damn physical box with a large bunch of trinkets. What you're not getting a physical copy of is a minor bonus thrown in towards the second half of the Kickstarter campaign. I'm not refuting that this is a Obsidian straight up changing part of the rewards for Kickstarter backers. What I'm saying is that they have some very, very good reasons for it, and it's rather unreasonable to get up into arms over it given how small a part of the actual product is being affected.

  15. That is a fantastically hilarious and obscure reference. Awesome. Which is from..? (I was actually immediately very curious about this but Googling it returned only confusing mixed results ) It's the (confirmed?) urban legend that Disney staged a part of some nature documentary about lemmings. The idea is that lemmings will just follower the leader, even over a cliff and into suicide. This was then "confirmed" by a Disney documentary, that in actuality forced the lemming herd over the edge but then showed it as footage of the lemmings willingly killing themselves anyway. Don't have much to add. The animations look great, nice lore on the creatures. A pity there weren't any animations for the vithraks, but I suppose they're not properly done yet. I don't mind the lack of a physical DVD, as I didn't back to a level that would get me it any way. I do think you guys made the right decision though in making it all digital, but including all the development period.
  16. A womance, of course. That's... actually pretty good. I'd still like to see Lephys give it a go though. He does have a certain propunsity for these things.
  17. Love the brigandine on the dude in the foreground. Really happy we'll be getting good brigandine in PoE.
  18. The toon you "rolled" or the toon you are currently controlling? For example, I wouldn't want the mage I rolled as my main to face an Athletics check if I have a beefy barbarian who would (presumably) have a higher Athletics ability. Given how incredibly heavily these screens are adopted from Darklands, I'd imagine it works as in Darklands. This means that if only one character needs to do it, the one with the highest skill will automatically be the one who rolls the check.
  19. Am I the only one who caught that Darji said he didn't like reading? Hmm... What was it Josh said about this game again? Like, time after time again... I can't quite remember... Something about reading? That it wouldn't be required for this game? Yeah, that must have been it. Darji is going to be a perfect fit!
  20. Personally I would love to see the progress of the game through these videos. Again like Larian Studios it did with Divinity was perfect for my taste and in my opinion. I do not except them to be perfect in this regard but showing nothing is really a wasted and sad experience., ... You do know that Larian were at about the stage that Obsidian is now when they even got the Kickstarter going in the first place, right?
  21. The beta is confirmed to have no story content, no? Which means that there will be no NDA, no breach of anything to stream and upload video content. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'll encourage it. You know, when they feel the game is ready for that. I mean, what would you rather show: a video with placeholder animations, no VFX, only half the SFX, and unfinished monsters, or a video that actually looks like the game is going to look, only not as polished in terms of bugs, balance, and content?
  22. Thank you Lephys for writing that post in such a level-headed manner. I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to argue that point nearly as well right now. So bravo. Have a cookie.
  23. Great update. Really cool stuff you guys are showing. I'm very sad that the class update is being pushed away though. It's the class update that I've been looking forward to the most, by far, and I'm sad to see it left for last
  24. ... Well this is a load of horse-wordthat'sblockedbyforumfilter. We GAVE them money. It was not a preorder. It was not an investment. It was closer to a donation. That we happen to get perks THEY chose for us. Obsidian have no obligations towards us other than to fulfil the perks we got as rewards for our donations. They also have a bit of a moral duty, I feel, to create as good a product as they can, while remaining within the constraints and ideas they showed us during the kickstarter campaign. Their kickstarter campaign was one that told us of the game they wanted to make, and how publishers didn't think there was a market for that type of game. So they turned to us. Nowhere did they mention how they wanted to change the industry, or even the traditional publishing model. They've even said multiple times they think it works pretty well for the 'standard' type of games. They just feel it works piss-poorly for more niche games like an isometric, hardcore roleplaying experience. So if you're a brutally honest person, be that towards yourself too. Don't put the blame on Obsidian for this. Put it on yourself for completely misunderstanding the message Obsidian has spoken, loud and clear, to us time and time again.
  25. Nice demonstration. I loved the roll the dude did in the middle of the video. Looked almost exactly like a Dark Souls fat roll. Reminds me of ENBs fat roll run.. Good times.
