To be honest, we're doing the best we can. I've got my like in, but from what I can tell Obsidian isn't pushing the Facebook likes very hard, because it's not really that important compared to the other things they have going on. (the main being generating as much money as possible before the kick starter ends). So it's really up to us to push this as hard and as much as we can. I don't think we'll hit 40k, but 30k is defiantly within sight. I wish they would have did it in 10k increments instead of 20k.

The Game Manual
Loranc replied to Krios's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
My god if the book looked like that....... I would probably have to make a little sanctuary for it. -
I can't play a monk in a crpg, it's too hard for me. I always picture monks as those who carry little with them and have little need for gold. I can't help but become a pack rat with no matter what character I play, so i always feel like I can't play the 'role' of a monk correctly. I do love monks though, probably one of my favorite classes, I just can't get out of the stereotypical viewpoint of a monk.

Live recorded music, Poll 2.0
Loranc replied to jerf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I love the options for this poll, problem is I still can't choose. Music really does add a lot to a game, especially for me. But I can't decide between partial or full. The ambient sounds, the cut scenes, all of it really adds to the feel of a game. This is a really important part of making a crpg. But i'm.... completely undecided still. -
I know collections are kind of a new thing added to pretty much all games these days. Even though it's not an 'old' school thing to reward people for collecting random things for no reason. We all did it anyways, may as well be rewarded for it. I've always collected stuff just because it was in the game, like many people have. I try to get at least one of everything, and it's sort of a personal goal. I guess while rewards would take away from the personal satisfaction of just doing it, it's also a nice added feature. However, with that being said. I'd prefer something a long the lines of BG2 where you collect something and not know that it's part of a reward later on. Example being the pantaloons. It's kind of a nice surprise to be rewarded for collecting something without being told that there was a reward for it.

How should the UI look?
Loranc replied to Rostere's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I've never 'liked' any UI for any game I've ever played and I always download a UI mod. So it doesn't really matter to me what the UI is like cause there's a 99% probability that I'll be downloading a separate UI mod for the game (assuming one is available). If I 'had' to choose, I prefer a UI that is crisp, clear, and doesn't have useless information/buttons blocking parts of the screen. I'd love a full customization UI but, I don't foresee that happening. -
Voices in the game
Loranc replied to Dostro89's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's always a possibility to add more and more to the game. Keep in mind that they'll be keeping the paypal donations open after the kickstarter, and that's going to generate a lot of money in the year and a half they take to make the game. There's no telling what they'll do with all the added/extra money, but they stated that all the donation money would be used towards PE and not their upcoming expansion, so at least we have piece of mind knowing that whatever we donate is going to be used to make PE the best game it can possibly be. If they get enough money and decide to add more voice acting, that's cool. But I'd rather see bigger environments, more cities, dungeons, areas to explore, more characters to interact with, companions, monsters, I mean there's so much more I'd rather see with this game with the money that's being donated towards it. Voice acting for me is very low on the priority list of things. -
Countdown to Eternity.
Loranc replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We are now at 2,939,252 nearly two hours after my original post. Looks like we're trending about 4,000 an hour, and the day hasn't even really started yet. At this rate we'll be looking at 2,975,000 by my 5 pm estimation of 3 million. Not including the new paypal donations. Not bad for a Saturday if it stays at a rate of 4k/hour we'll trend 96,000 in kickstarter funds, just a little short of what I expected to see by the end of the day. With that in mind and not taking into consideration 'any' paypal donations we're looking at 3,227,000 (at the end of day 10/15) that's just amazing and this project is going to blow right past the other kick starters. We've also gained an additional 121 backers in the past 2 hours. By the time this is over we'll be looking at 6,500 + backers, which will give us 10 levels of the dungeon! Keep in mind they stated that they have plans up to 15 levels, but 10 would still be an amazing thing to see. -

There's that document, I was looking for that sucker earlier and couldn't find it. -
Kickstarter question.
Loranc replied to -TK-'s topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well.. wasteland 2 and grim dawn both put up packages to purchase after their kickstarter to continue funding money into the project. It won't surprise me to see something similar with Project Eternity. You can never have enough money when creating the rpg of your dreams. -
Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
Loranc replied to nerevar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You'd be surprised, but we'll wait to the end of today to really see how it's looking. If we gross at least 120,000 by the end of today we'll be looking at around 3,060,000. All we really need to do is get close to that goal by the final day, somewhere around 3,250,000 and you'll see the money pour in like a mad rush at wal mart during black Friday. -
Big City #2- 3.5mil. stretch goal
Loranc replied to nerevar's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's not less likely at all, the final day of the kickstarter you can expect anywhere between 200-400k donations. And yesterday we did 160,000 in donations alone. -
PVP/duels?
Loranc replied to Freshock's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
They stated that there will be no Multiplayer in the game whatsoever. Now that doesn't mean there won't be any option for it in the expansion or the next game(s) they release. But as far as PvP goes, don't expect that to ever happen. -
Voices in the game
Loranc replied to Dostro89's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
There's going to be voice acting, they already stated as much. It's just not going to be full voice acting. -
That makes sense to hire people after the project, guess I didn't really consider that until they actually know the 'exact' amount of donation money they're going to be getting, they don't really know how much they can spend. I'm sure there are some people that are pretty darn expensive to hire, I stated earlier that they probably had a full team, but now thinking about it they probably will hire folks on after the kickstarter. I guess with how successful the kickstarter has been, it may even draw people to the project, so there's no telling who they may add on later.

Figured we should have a countdown topic, this is from twitter. Current PayPal status for #ProjectEternity: $57,462.21, 1210 backers, posted 1:30 yesterday afternoon. That puts us at 2,931,189 with 60784 backers. According to http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/obsidian/project-eternity/#chart-daily we donated 142,737 yesterday. And already 17,270 today. Which i'm pretty sure doesn't include paypal day to day. So we're probably looking at 160,000 in one day. What time does everyone think we'll hit the 3 million mark, and how much do you think we'll gross in kickstarter + paypal donations today? I personally think we'll drop a little today from the estimated 160,000 donations, and am expecting around 120,000 total donations today. Though we do get to watch Adam play IWD2 all day today, so that may actually increase pledging due to nostalgia. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/project-eternity-live-stream that's the site for the stream that will happen in 6 hours I do believe. I think we'll hit the 3 million mark this is including the paypal pledges btw, I think we'll nail it at around 5 pm today.

I don't think anyone will actual drop their pledges based on information that isn't actually there. We have no idea who the 'portrait' artist will be and like you suggested that's a very small part of the game itself. So hopefully nobody will be silly enough to drop a pledge based on something that hasn't even happened.
