- More Hardwood + Round Holes = Lots of Scoring in Basketball 2K19
I agree about competitive balance, I don't want the whole thing unregulated and we get situations like the New York Yankees outspending other teams 2 or 3 to 1. But that's an issue with the system, I have no problem with players gaming whatever system they're in, so long as it's in pursuit of winning. For example, I had no issue with LeBron going to Miami. I did however have issue with The Decision; even if it raised money for charity, that was some EPIC LEVEL self-fellating.- More Hardwood + Round Holes = Lots of Scoring in Basketball 2K19
I can never understand this mentality. Superstar players have a great deal of power and they use said power to put themselves in the perceived best possible situation to win championships. How is this bad? Isn't this what we want from our athletes, for them to desire to win championships above all else? So they game the system to do it, so what? Use every available tool at your disposal. I can understand hating players that quit on teams *cough*JamesHarden*cough* or head cases like Kyrie or players that want to collect paychecks but don't seem so keen on actually playing. /glares in Ben Simmons' direction No matter what you think of KD, whenever he's healthy and out there he's playing hard and doing everything he can to win.- More Hardwood + Round Holes = Lots of Scoring in Basketball 2K19
I thought you hated superteams and you'd be happy about this.- More Hardwood + Round Holes = Lots of Scoring in Basketball 2K19
@BartimaeusOn a scale of 1 to Obsidian announces Alpha Protocol 2, how excited are you to hear that Kevin Durant has asked to be traded, effectively ending this Nets superteam having only 1 playoff series win to show for it?- Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
I'm indifferent toward the art style. At least it's not retro pixel art. Not that there is anything wrong with retro pixel art, some of it is quite lovely. I've just seen far too much of it over the last half decade or so.- Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
I feel like I should be excited for this. I'm not. I mean it looks cool and it will probably be good, but for whatever reason it does nothing for me. Still, I hope it's a great game.- Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
- What are you Playing Now? I name all the operations that go down in Taipei.
AI: The Somnium Files is very weird and very Japanese. You play a detective with an AI eye implant investigating a murder, also there are bizarre dream sequences. Being a Spike Chunsoft game, I am fully prepared for some of the seemingly innocuous characters I've met so far to turn out to be twisted psychopaths.- Picture of Your Games the 15th

AI: The Somnium Files Yup, this is definitely going to be my type of game.- What are you Playing Now? I name all the operations that go down in Taipei.
For whatever reason, I never paid any attention to AI: The Somnium Files, I didn't read any reviews, I didn't bother with trailers, I had no clue of what it was except that it was Japanese. Fast forward to today and I see a release trailer for AI: The Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative (needs more colons) and, again, it looks very Japanese. I was ready to tune out and move on when I realized that it was a detective game, which is my jam, and, more importantly, I saw the Spike Chunsoft logo. Spike Chunsoft has released a number of games sufficiently demented and twisted to warm my black, shriveled heart (most notably the Zero Escape series). Suddenly, I was interested. I read some rather glowing reviews and decided to look into the first game and it sounds like it would be exactly up my alley. Furthermore, I found out that the first game is on game pass. Needless to say, it's downloading right now.- The New Cinema and Movie Thread
I forgot that movie existed. Now I very vaguely remember John Leguizamo was in it and also that it was bad.- The New Cinema and Movie Thread
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation CGI looks like something out of a promotional video for the Riva TNT video card.- The New Cinema and Movie Thread

And now for my old man sitting on his porch yelling at kids moment: I can't believe I still see young men wearing sagging jeans. It's not nearly as many as like 8 years ago, but how is this still a thing? How has this stupid fad lasted this long? It's not the dumbest fad I've ever seen. I mean, I remember JNCO jeans, that might take the cake for dumbest fad ever. However, that only lasted a couple of years before people realized that it looked stupid, those giant pant legs constantly got in your way, and the whole thing was just dumb and we all moved on. How is sagging pants still a thing? It looks stupid, it can't possibly be comfortable, and they're essentially one-handed since they constantly need to pull their pants up. Are these people that desperate to let everyone know what brand of underwear they wear? Why would they do this?- Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
FSR 2.0 has higher minimum requirements than 1.0 AFAIK. I'm too lazy to do the research on whether or not the Switch cuts the mustard.- Random video game news... may the dice be with you!
FSR 2.0 arriving on XBOX Series X/S and One soon. It's been known for quite some that AMD's FSR 2.0 would eventually make its way onto Microsoft's recent-ish consoles, but now it's confirmed that developers already have their hands on the upscaling tech and it is being actively tested on the aforementioned consoles for use in upcoming titles. It should be noted that FSR 2.0 requires significantly more work to implement than FSR 1.0, which was very simple to put into a game. The tradeoff is that the image quality to performance ratio is much more favorable, rivaling that of DLSS 2.0. Interestingly, AFAIK Sony has been completely silent on whether FSR 2.0 will show up on PS4/5. Given that there is no technical limitation preventing this (it's the same architectures as the Microsoft counterparts) I would presume that indeed FSR 2.0 will be used on Sony consoles but mysteriously they have never commented on the matter to the best of my knowledge.- Random sports
I'm forever amazed that more people don't die at WRC events, be that drivers, co-drivers, or spectators. I'm not sure who's more insane, the people in the car going 100 mph down a narrow, twisting road with a sheer cliff on one side, or the people sitting or standing shockingly close to the race path?- Obituary thread

Sniper Elite 5. It's on game pass so I figured I'd give it a shot. It's pretty good. There are some annoyances like only being able to scale walls in specific spots, so I can easily climb that 6 foot tall wall, but that other shin-high "wall" is impassable because reasons. Overall, though, it's a fun game of sneaking around. I fancy myself a stealth game expert, so I'm playing on authentic difficulty (the highest difficulty) across all difficulty options. This not only means enemies have more health and do more damage, but they also spot you much quicker. Plus I have no HUD. No ammo count, no indicator of whether I've been spotted, nothing whatsoever.- What are you Playing Now? I name all the operations that go down in Taipei.
I finished The Quarry again... And again and again. After saving all the camp counselors on the 2nd playthrough, I went back a couple of times through the last couple of chapters trying to figure out how to save more of the Hacketts. Eventually I found some success. In my final run only Kaylee, Chris, and Silas died. Everybody else lived. I think this is the best possible ending. Movie Mode has 3 options: 1) Everyone Lives 2) Everyone Dies 3) Director's Chair Option 3 allows you to set 4 parameters for each of the camp counselors: How they act under pressure, how they act in conversation, how they act in a fight or flight situation, and how observant they are. I'm definitely going to watch "Everyone Dies". It will hurt to watch my girl Kaitlyn die, but it will be worth it for all those sweet gory deaths. Maybe I can figure out how to do a Only Kaitlyn Survives run? 🤔- Funny Stuff: Joke-Wing vs Meme Fighter
