We won't know what playstyles will be more or less viable until we see what the perk system rework looks like. Viable or not, I just want to punch people, though.
-
Yeah, I'm going to do a different playstyle too. Rather than sneaky and snipe-y I'm going with gorilla arms and I'm going to punch people.
-
To my understanding it IS a mid-game DLC. I'm going to start a new character for it from the beginning anyway, for 2 reasons. A) To use the new perk system from the get go. II) To make a male character so that I can hook up with Panam.

Random video game news... the critical eyes have it
Keyrock replied to Hurlshort's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, the PC Gaming show was hard to get through. Not only was it super long, but we had to suffer through a multitude of terrible skits. The XBOX presentation was much better. The lady showed up, did the public speaker voice with the deliberate cadence and inflections for a minute, then she got out of the way and we got a bunch of trailers one after the other. That's how you do it. Day9's awful attempts at comedy were not enhancing my viewing experience, quite the opposite, in fact. -

I remember playing Gothic and the first time I walked into somebody's house and they drew their weapon and told me to get the **** out was an eye opening experience because I had been so used to just looting people's homes with zero reactivity up to that point. -

As of right now, from what has been shown recently, I'm I need to change my drawers level hyped for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, very hyped for Phantom Liberty, rather hyped for Dread Pilots, Persona 3 Remake (Persona 2 is the one that would most benefit from a remake but I'll take what I can get), and Persona 5 Tactics (even if I don't like the chibi art style), cautiously hyped for Starfield, lukewarm on Avowed and UbiStarWars (until I learn more about it), and everything else is whatever. Speaking of Phantom Liberty: -

I'm not a RTS player, on account of the fact that I'm absolute dog$#!+ at micromanaging, but it's a criminally underserved genre, so hopefully this game is really good, because heaven knows that Activision Blizzard is never going to make Warcraft 4. -

Interest level falling. And for the inverse of that, interest level high: Reminds me of Sunless Sea. -

I'm thinking it will be an expansion to the map. My guess is that it will be southwest of the Biotechnica Flats near Pacifica. That's me just taking a stab in the dark, though. The Witness: Ancient Mythology Edition? -

I'm basing this solely on the fact that virtually all Ubisoft games are essentially the same. With that in mind, I'm expecting Far Cry: Star Wars, but who knows? -
That sounds like a positive rather than a negative to me, assuming that by "scale" they mean the size of the game world. I've been a vocal proponent of smaller worlds. This ties in to your concern with Starfield's size and the potential for a lot of it to be empty and/or filled with dull and generic "content". I've written this before, some of the best open worlds ever created are some of the smallest. Ryu Ga Gotoku is the gold standard for making open worlds IMHO and they make some of the smallest. Not much to go on for South of Midnight, but I love the art style, so there's that:

I thought what was said during the Starfield showcase sounded great, but I take anything The Todd & Co. say with a large quantity of grains of salt. I've been hating on Bethesda for quite a while, I was hating on them long before it was fashionable to do so. That said, I would love nothing more than for them to knock it out of the park with Starfield. I would be thrilled if Bethesda became the company that made Morrowind again. I'm not holding my breath but color me very cautiously optimistic. As an aside, flightstick support is probably too much to ask for, isn't it?

Xbox Games Showcase 2023, here we go!
Keyrock replied to Ethics Gradient's topic in Avowed Speculation
The graphics are the least of my concern. -
I mean, it's an Ubi game. There will be a giant map with a metric ****ton of icons on it. 80% of said icons will be copy/paste bull**** collectibles and "activities". There will be a bunch of outpost for you to liberate. Speaking of liberate, Phantom Liberty (look, it's the best segue I could come up with):

InXile's Definitely Not Bioshock, Why Would You Even Suggest Such A Thing? looks pretty dang good:
-
I'll say this for UbiStarWars, it looks like they're focusing on the interesting part of Star Wars, the underworld, and not the boring part, the space wizards with laser swords. I'm sure that at some point some ***hole with a laser sword will show up because Star Wars can't help but shoehorn those boring ****s into otherwise interesting stuff, but hopefully there will be minimal ***holes with laser swords.

Much much more important than Fable or Avowed, though, my mother****er Ichiban Kasuga is back! And it looks like he's in... Miami(?) Somewhere in the US, anyway. Hopefully my girl Saeko Mukoda managed to make her way over to The States as well.
-
I've never had any attachment to the Fable series, so my hype level is minimal, but that was a nice trailer, I'll give it that.
-
If we don't see anything about Avowed today I am officially writing it off.
-
Demo coming soon, nice!
