It is interesting that Hitler is universally considered a monster, and rightly so, yet Stalin, who, even by the most conservative estimates, was responsible for significantly more deaths, many his own countrymen, is not nearly as denounced, and is even in some cases romanticized.

What Star Wars has taught me is that the members of the Old Republic/Jedi Order/Rebel Alliance/New Republic are almost universally extremely stupid and incompetent and that they are only able to survive and eventually triumph because Deus Ex Machina, because the Sith/Empire got overconfident, and because the First Order is somehow even more stupid and incompetent. As for the new trailer, there is zero gameplay so no comment until I see actual gameplay.

Okay, so I found some optional bosses in DQ XI that handed me my ass, both in the same region; Malicious Jormun and Malicious Arboreal Serpent. I'm lev 59 now and I got obliterated by both of them, one because of status effects (when my whole party is sleeping, that's an issue) and one because I just couldn't handle the raw damage output. The challenge is on! Time to do some metal slime farming.

Man, what a weird press conference that was. -
I have reached the 100 hour mark in DQ XI. At this point, while I do have some quests to do, it's mostly about grinding XP and forging the best gear in preparation for the final boss fight. I'm currently lev 58 and, from my jRPG experience, lev 60-65 is usually enough to beat the final boss. However, I have a longstanding tradition of overlevelling my party for the final battle so that I can have the satisfaction of ROFLstomping the final boss. So, with that in mind, I'll probably get to about lev 80 before the final battle. It's been a while since I played a DQ, so I don't remember if they usually have any optional hidden ultimate bosses ala Emerald Weapon in FFVII and such.

Olajuwon was a monster. He had possibly the greatest low post game ever. -
Does greatcactus have its own weapon proficiency or does it share the same proficiency as mauls and 2-handed maces?

I "finished" DQ XI. Credits rolled, there were cutscenes, and there was even a screen with the words "The End" written. As I suspected, though, that was not the real end. I won't elaborate on what exactly happens after the credits roll, for spoiler reasons, obviously, but I have plenty of work left to do to SUPER save the world.

I've reached that point in DQ XI where, were this my first traditional jRPG, I'd be thinking I'm in the final dungeon and about to face the final boss. I've been through enough of these that I know I'm about to get a "j/k game's not over yet".

Busch Light? At that point, why not just drink water?

If you're late teens or early 20s, they're alright, I guess, but not if you're older than that. For me it's kind of like seeing a middle-aged or elderly woman with electric blue or hot pink or some other wild color hair. I mean, listen, if that's what makes you happy, go for it, I ain't gonna talk **** to you or make fun of you, but from my point of view it looks ridiculous on anyone past their early 20s. I guess I've just become the old man sitting on the porch yelling at the kids, except I won't actually yell at the kids, I'll just grumble to myself. "I wish the little hooligans would get off my lawn."

Caprese Salad I didn't have whole leaf basil, only chopped, so I lose some presentation points.

"Secretly" the best song off the greatest metal album of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzrwjAv0BO0 One of my favorite things about this song is how abruptly it ends. It does not overstay its welcome at all.

Muh Boys now need to shore up the secondary.

I should add I'm also partial to Ma Po Bean Curd (Tofu), though it's hard to find a place that cooks it right where the peas still have some texture and aren't completely mush. That's kind of a running theme of low-end restaurants (of any kind) where they tend to overcook the vegetables. I always take note of a place where I get peas with some texture, carrots with a bit of snap to them, broccoli with some crunch, etc.

^ Nah, I mean any ol' Chinese take out. It doesn't have to come from a fancy schmancy restaurant.
-
Why are people's favorite Chinese take out dishes? My current favorite is Singapore Mei Fun. Mei Fun is the super thin rice noodles and the Singapore variant uses every protein the restaurant has available (usually beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, and eggs) and adds curry powder and other spices to give it a kick.
