Apparently Fallout 76 now has a subscription fee
Keyrock replied to daven's topic in Computer and Console
I think Bethesda is trolling us at this point. Well played, Todd, well played indeed. On a serious note, the only way you can really justify that fee is the private server. These servers are not free to maintain and paying for private servers is not a new idea. That said, you can only have 8 players on a server (assuming there are still 8 players playing this game). Also, someone with a subscription has to be in the game at all times for the private server to function, so if 8 players want to play on a private server and be able to play any time they want, whether the other 7 are on or not, then all 8 would need to buy subscriptions. Also also, it would be one thing to do this for a game that was a smashing success and a media darling, it takes some balls to roll this out for a game that was almost universally panned by critics and gamers alike. Also also also, putting a quality of life feature like unlimited crafting storage that solves an artificially created problem behind a paywall is a super scumbag move. tl;dr Activision/Blizzard: "Did you see how quickly we nuked our reputation?" Bethesda: "Hold my beer..." -
I beat a couple more boss fights in Code Vein. The first was 2 bosses in 1 fight, the Cannoneer and the Blade Bearer. I defeated them on the first try and I was never that close to death. I figured out what to do very quickly in that battle. The next boss I will not name because spoilers, but it was a much tougher battle. It took me 6 attempts to get the job done. I have now entered what I believe is the final area of the game with, presumably, 1 boss fight remaining. Hopefully the final encounter is suitably epic. The game hasn't disappointed yet, so I'm confident it won't be a QTE final boss or something similarly bull****.

blood code = character class gift = special ability inherit = master the gift so that it can be used by other blood codes They could just simply call things what they are instead of substituting fancy words and phrases to make things more confusing, but it's a (very) Japanese game and Japan gonna Japan.

I defeated the Successor of the Throat boss in Code Vein, first try. That makes 2 bosses in a row I have beaten first try. I don't know if I'm overleveled or have just gotten better at the game, either way, I'll take it. I'm surprised I survived, I was down to a sliver of health with no healing left for the last 30 seconds or so of that fight, I thought for sure I'd fall. With the victory I picked up another new blood code, this one perfect for an offensive caster build. Not my jam, but there is at least 1 gift I very much want to inherit from this blood code.

I defeated the Successor of the Claw boss in Code Vein, first try too. It was less about figuring out her patterns and more about I just happened to have the best, or nearly the best, setup of blood code(class), gifts(abilities), and equipment when I faced her. She hit me quite a bit, but I was able to tank and regen through it well enough to keep myself alive. I came close to dropping once, but survived it, found my opening, and went all out to deal the finishing blow before she recovered. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm about 2/3 of the way through the game now. They keep giving me new blood codes to work with, and with them new sets of gifts to inherit, it's pretty impressive the sheer amount of build options available, and I'm sure I haven't seen them all yet.

I find it funny that whenever Dak lights up a dog**** team all the talking heads say "Jerry needs to pay Dak whatever he wants", then when we get smoked by good team those same talking heads say "good thing Jerry hasn't given Dak too much money yet". Can we let the season play out and worry about this then? Please? I'll say this about Dak, he doesn't run a lot, but when he does run he is very effective. Part of me wants him to run more often, but I think part of his success running is that he doesn't do it often enough that teams start keying in on him taking off. He does it just enough that when the Boys run the option (something they should do more often), defenses have to honor the possibility of him keeping it.

Muh Boys won, and thus we get the TRIUMPHANT return of the Jerry gif. I'm sure you're all excited. On a serious note, it turns out the Eagles are even more terrible than muh Boys. Well, it could also be that they're all types of banged up. I guess we'll find out when we play them again later on, assuming they're healthy then. It's entirely possible we make the playoffs, somebody from the smoldering tire fire that is the NFC East has to. This could be a year a 7-9 team gets in again. Even if we do get in, we'll make our customary early exit.

I've been watching NWA Powerrr (yes, with 3 Rs, don't ask me, I don't know why) on YouTube. It's a brand new 30 year old studio wrestling show, is the best way I can describe it in a sentence. So, when Billy Corgan (yes, that Billy Corgan) bought the National Wrestling Alliance a couple years ago, I didn't think much of it; the NWA, while it did technically still exist, had been basically dead for decades. I was super wrong because first he did a terrific job of making the NWA Heavyweight Championship actually mean something again with the 10 Pounds of Gold YouTube video series and now, more recently, he and Dave Lagana launched NWA Powerrr, a 1 hour weekly studio wrestling show straight out of the 80s that first airs on Tuesday at 6:05 pm EST (Turner Time!), but you can watch it whenever after that. It's amazingly 80s, cheesy in just the right ways without being cringe. It's such a perfect recreation of 80s studio wrestling, right down to the ring apron, the on screen graphics, the way the announce desk (with Jim Cornette on color!) and the podium where they conduct interviews are right next to the ring. They nailed the vibe so unbelievably perfectly that I couldn't believe my eyes, just sat there for an hour with a goofy smile on my face. It's like I traveled back in time 30 years. They even had an AMAZING ad with "The Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol, and holy smokes Austin Idol is still phenomenal. Oh, and this is the show's theme song: The fact that a show like this exists in 2019 makes me so ****ing happy!

I defeated the Gilded Hunter boss in Code Vein. I've lost count at this point, but that's the... 10th (?) boss I've defeated so far (not counting boss reprisals in The Depths). Anyway, that was my favorite boss fight so far. It took me 4 tries to get the job done. The first few times he roughed me up pretty bad, but over the course of those defeats I learned that There was a story bit after said boss fight and it seems that the game has finally revealed the central villain. It was hinted at before, but this pretty much confirmed suspicions.

It's the periods of time you spend in between sleeping.

ScummVM is a piece of cake to use.

Unfortunately, the venn diagram shows a lot of overlap between face palm territory and video game news territory.

This definitely looks like my jam.

I guess the one and only thing I have left to enjoy this season is The Legend of Gardner Flint Minshew II. That's my mother****er. If I were to get a Minshew jersey, would that be cheating on my team? Would Jerry smell a different team's perfume on me and throw my stuff out of the window?

Is it just me or is the NFL particularly hard to watch this year? Never mind my team being crappy, I had to suffer through like 10 8-8 seasons in a row at one point, but I was always able to find other exciting stuff to watch as soon as it became obvious that muh Boys were doing Jack and **** that season. But this season, I just can't find anything compelling. There have been a few fun games here and there and Lamar Jackson Mania was fun for a hot second, but overall I'm finding this season excruciatingly dull. I can't even get that excited to watch Patrick Mahomes. Maybe it's just me?

Maybe Vampires can have Demolition Man style sex?

^ Guild Wars 2 holds up pretty well visually. Also, in case you thought you might get a break from my unrelenting barrage of Code Vein pics... Giant Wolf Boss? Giant Wolf Spider Boss! (Giant Wolf Spider Boss is the name of my ska band ) This game has no shortage of cleavage, side boob, and underboob. Never change, Japan. Never ever change.

It's a testament to how terrible the Giants, Skins, and Fins are that they actually lost to muh Boys.

Muh Boys are currently getting their asses handed to them by the 0-4 NY Jets.
