A classic: Front 242 - Headhunter

Hehe, guys! I stand corrected. I actually played Daggerfall and Arena way back when, but those cities merely annoyed me - that was my only lasting memory. I recall I was more impressed with weather effects and some weird nudist colonies (or rather teeny-weeny bikini-colonies).

Here's another weird post-WW I-poster, depicting a Bolshevik as an anarchistic troll or an ogre or an unusually hairy ghoul, carrying a bomb and a knife.

Who is the Watcher?
IndiraLightfoot replied to Mor's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I agree with PrimeJunta, Obsidian often returns to this kind of theme (and I obviously I like it). At the end of the trailer, you see a beast and an eye. almost like the Skyrim trailer, btw. I wouldn't be surprised if the Watcher is a mighty single entity that has guarded something for centuries, or even millennia. And if this is the case, then we see something of a return of the Shadow King in PE. All the reasons behind his actions, if you delved deep into the NWN2 OC, were very well written and pretty tragic. It was one of my favourite parts of vanilla NWN2. EDIT: I'm also getting a Dishonored-vibe out of this Watcher thing, like the Outsider in that game. He's very neutral, but powerful and sort of omnipresent. He treats you like a malleable and easily duped creature, and almost everything you do, he consumes and comments upon listlessly. -
Me too, and here's one that I'll never forget. I hold it as one of my all time favourite games, for Commodore 64:

Nice writing from the journalist. Here's an excerpt: "In Pillars' morally ambiguous world of scientific revolution, Animancy is right at the cutting edge of progress – stem cell research for wizards. For a modest fee, an Animancer will permanently bind your soul to your earthly body, tethering you to the mortal plain for the rest of time as a permanent middle finger to the reaper. All well and good, in theory. The only problem is that, after a while, your flesh starts dropping off. From there, the repercussions of ignoring the small print only get worse. You start getting cravings for meat: a scullery maid here, a serving boy there. Who's to know? Like fantastical kelp, eating fresh bodies goes some way to halting your body's decay, but soon your mind starts to go as well. Finally, you wind up your typical shambling corpse, schlepping around your palace until some questing hero or curious treasure hunter barges into your chambers, lops off your head and pinches all your jewelry."

Dat Backer Content

Mannock: Hmm... What do we have to go on? Sweden, German soccer player avatar. You seem like an orderly collector type, hence names are important to you, enough perhaps to use the same first letter twice? Mabecs_Mace is my first guess, followed by Jenas_Lance.- 110 replies

Yay! Something was in motion, namely that wonderful surf VFX, including sea weed and sea gull cries. Great work there! I'm also happy to see that you chug along so very nicely. Perhaps we'll get to see a release before X-mas, which would be absolutely lovely.

Also, walking around in plate mail on any surface sounds like a steam roller crushing gravel, and if you add a stony surface to the equation, it's just a cacophony. CRPGs rarely get the true disadvantage this would entail for your party. Otherwise, a very enlightening video - it's even more mobile and manoeuvrable than I expected it to be.

So far, I must say that the graphics of Witcher 3 looks much more vibrant and alive than DA:I. In another thread, comparisons to Skyrim abound, and in this case I think W3 has surpassed Bethesda's product by far in that regard. Also, this city is pretty impressive. Whiterun in Skyrim looks like a cruel joke for a city - it's rather a fort with a hamlet inside, but this is perhaps the first true 3D city (with flat set pieces along the edges? And will we really be able to enter all those houses and visit all those floors? Like in Dishonored or something?) in a first-person-view CRPG ever.

Hang on! Are we the kind of people that vie for games on the basis of whether they are in fashion or not? I have the definitive feeling that the answer is "no". "Hey! This game is in now." "Yay! It's so rad!"

"Adventuring in Dragon Age: Origins rewarded story with more story." In this game: "Adventuring is the currency of power". In DA:O, I found that the worst culprits were too dragged out quest lines filled with repetitive scenery and nothing to do except for repetitive combat versus equally repetitive foes. Another revolting thing was... In DA:I, I predict that any side quests and free-roaming will be one long foraging run for ingredients and other Lego pieces. That makes it a bit like Skyrim, actually. Overall, the similarities are clearly there (and like BruceVC said, I have no problems with that, on the contrary). It's pretty obvious that Bioware has decided to chest slam Bethesda on this, once and for all, just to see if they've got what it takes. *Cough*

Well, given how disproportionately loudly the audiences cheer over shabby trailers and alpha gameplay, it seems to be something contagious over at E3.

Taste is certainly subjective. We all get our juices going over all sorts of things. Just for you Cassandra fans out there, a cosplay by Teddiliza: ×

Thanks for posting this! It looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous! It reminds me of Hitchc o c k (of course), Scratches, and also of Don't Starve a bit. When will it be released? And will it be available on Steam?

I'm disappointed too - that combat looks contrived and it's dripping with force-fed-MMO-power-kick-tropes. And the graphics seems to be MMO-adapted as well. Heck, even Skyrim's environments, with HD graphics and a few mods, certainly looks more neat. Post-DA:O-Bioware is sort of famous for fugly faces, but they seem to reach new heights in DA:I. Well, graphics is not all. Perhaps the story, the characters and the systems are excellent. However, if they aren't, I'll probably skip this game, or perhaps get it two years later (when it's fixed with heaps of patches).

COH2 is on sale on Green Man Gaming for like 66%, and there are vouchers giving you 10% more off, so you ought to rush to that site and enjoy some RTS excitement and some masterful sound mixing! EDIT: Scratch that! The sale's apparently over! My bad. :/

Rjshae: It makes me think of all of those Underdark armours and weapons in BG2. You found quite a few, and used them, and they grew on you, and then you couldn't keep them anymore. If such systems are in place (and I would love to see that), there should be options of barter and stuff outside the cultural context. Obviously, if the weapon is nothing but a shadow in a shadow dimension, this argument goes straight down the drain. -
Company of Heroes 2 closed Beta
IndiraLightfoot replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Computer and Console
I still play COH2 almost exclusivally atm! It's so addicitive, despite my stacking losses sky-high! At least I am slowly, slowly getting better at it. I've spent a lot of time practising vs the AI in custom games, and this comp-stomping is very informative. The only thing I don't like about the AI is its obsession with capture points. As soon as you leave one, it will sneak a unit there to take it back. While Easy is indeed easy for me, I still have quite some trouble beating the AI on standard. Of course, I've also kept on playing multiplayer matches, and more or less lost all of them. It's utterly weird how many first-minute dropouts there are, though, and some people seem to need anger management badly. This makes 3x3 and 4x4 matches pretty much a pain atm. I mostly stick to 1x1 (no dropouts there) and 2x2. Another problem with COH2 is the match-making system. Today I got teamed up with one of the absolute top players in 1x1 (admittedly, he told me he was drunk, so that's a handicap, at least ). Still, he managed to take me out in 16 minutes, which is the 2nd fastest loss I've had to a human player. He capped those points like there was no tomorrow, but I got a few tips from him, and he was very polite, so all's well. Hopefully, a better match-making system will turn up and hopefully remedy some of the frustration for COH2 players. I don't mind though, so far, since almost anyone is a hard enough opponent for me. -
Which new games will you be playing soon?
IndiraLightfoot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Computer and Console
D:OS is pushed ten days to June 30, because of a surprise VO bonanza! Well, I can sure wait for this little gem. -
And it comes complete with a Minecraft mini-game!
