The graphics look great to me, and the faces look better than anything from Bethesda's Fallouts. Maybe I'm just old, but I'm long past getting excited by ever-more photorealistic graphics in games. I remember thinking that the original Doom looked so photorealistic it was like someone had videotaped actual demons, which is obviously laughable when you look at any screenshot of old-school Doom today, but it definitely seemed that way to me at the time. But these days? I'm hard pressed to care about the difference in photorealism between the last gen and the current gen. It all seems incremental to me. And the Outer Worlds definitely looks good enough for current gen. Looks great, I think. (These days I'm much more likely to take notice of an interesting art style, like SuperGiant's games. Or the way they stylised everything in Tyranny. Or Prey. where all the characters look like oil-painted caricatures. That sort of art really appeals to me.) Just to clarify: Personally, I don't care much about graphics, and the way the game looks right now is absolutely fine. Gameplay is king. My concerns are solely due to my hope that much younger (than me) disappointed Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 players will pick up this game.

Pre-orders when?
IndiraLightfoot replied to a topic in The Outer Worlds: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Perhaps. But will it really be leather, though, after you've checked…? -
How about a fantastic game (once very expensive) for free? Compnay of Heroes 2 is indeed free this weekend, and all them DLCs like at 75%, it's a steal!

Fingers crossed for Darkest Dungeon flaws! -
What the title says! I mean, this couldn't have been revealed at a more opportune date, Now, I just really hope that Private Division and Obsidian spin the PR web cunningly and get the word out there. I will help them, count on it. Keep emphasizing: No microtransactions, etc... Spread the word, guys!

I'll definitely buy it! It's more or less what I expected, Fallout New Vegas meets Borderlands, which in my book, is pretty excellent! Perhaps a bit too much whacky humor to my liking, just like in Borderlands, I mean, but we knew this would be an Americana future game, so, well, there you go. But yeah, those faces, and the animations, they are worse than the swollen hot dog hands in Dragon Age Origins, but as long as the game is rich in content and quests and roleplaying, with lots of cool skills, I don't care. EDIT: For some bizarre reason, a few of the faces reminded me of those of SpongeBob's parents:

The sad thing is that this extremely unacceptable bug really punish the die hard fans. Salt in the wounds.

Perhaps Ubisoft has got hold of the rights to BG3, at least considering this huge CRPG headhunting trophy of theirs: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-12-05-dragon-age-boss-mike-laidlaw-joins-assassins-creed-odyssey-studio-ubisoft-quebec

As an avid immersive sim player, I must clarify myself: I only hope this game resembles those settings as far as art and style go - plus, of course all the clever alternative history/future bits. I don't want this new IP to be an immersive sim. I assume it will be a deep party-based isometric CRPG, ripe with choices and consequences, which make the replayability sprout through the roof. I don't want an isometric immersive sim, that's all.

I'll go against the grain: Keep on playing. Don't give up! When I was young, computer games were much harder than the ones we play today, in general. And I can't even begin to recount all the cases where I got furious at the game, even rage quit, and then I let it sit for a while, and my mind percolated a bit on the problems in the game in question, and I really read up on the manual and the systems in the game - I even draw maps and wrote down various info and clues (There was no Internet to consult back then, and the walkthrough manuals appeared in the 1990s, and they could cost a couple of hundred bucks. Obviously, I would never resort to them, anyways.) Ironically, though, several of these crazy tough games turned into my best gaming memories - they even set the benchmark for what to expect of a computer game. I reckon Deadfire is a perfect game for you in this genre. Perhaps even DOS2, but you should wait playing other games of this kind, like Pathfinder: the Kingmaker. Enjoy bashing your head into a few walls in Deadfire, but know this: It will feel really darn sweet when you overcome these obstacles. And often, like in my case, this will be the kind of game that you'll even replay just to get your kicks kicked in every once in a while, just for the sheer pleasure of a rematch, where you end up as the winner. Go get them, champ!

Yay! This was a very fine day, indeed! I finally managed to unlock every single achievement in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, so now that's my second perfect 100% completed Dishonored game, and I've loved almost every minute of it. Having read the books about Daud and the Corvo/Emily comic books this summer, this was the optimal ending, my choosing to kill the Outsider instead. It took me three playthroughs, and this was my only NewGame+, where you get a few of Emily's skills. The last playthrough was mainly focussed on doing all those contracts and finding all the paintings. At the same time, I got to vent a lot of real-life frustations on weird cultists and abbeymen! And I sure did, with a vengeance… I managed to get my hands on the 2,000 year old double-edged sacrificial sword, after some heavy handling in a huge bank heist. And the Outsider is beyond wise, his a philosopher of a timeless standing. I killed everything that came in my way, like that Robin Wrightman-Penn character in that old movie. Truer words haven't been spoken. And geez, I really do miss Daniel Licht. His music really made the Dishonored games come to life. Thank you for the bittersweet music, Daniel! -

I've been playing Grim Dawn quite a bit, finally finishing the game on Ultimate, and I've started with the Malmouth XP. I still play the same character that I've been for a couple of years, the 2nd one I ever made, a Sorceress, with about equal investment in both Demolitionist and Arcanist. I started out as a Gunslinger, but later on switched to Flame Torrent DW, since it's faster and more aggressive, which I like in Grim Dawn. I've been tying a few loose ends, and trying my hand at those challenge dungeons and that Crucible DLC. The Crucible is really stressful, but in one run now I managed to pass 900,000, then 1,200,000 and 120, so I was able to snatch a very juicy reward. Nice stuff! The Crucible is a good way to farm various items quickly. It's like five times easier than playing the normal game. I'm happy to report that I survived the Torment dungeon, almost with Ease on Ultimate: Though, so far, I haven't managed to survive the entirety of the Discord-Anarchy-Entropy challenge dungeon. The end boss keeps killing me: Oh, and if you think my character looks weird, it's because I've changed all items using the Illusion feature, compare Blizzard's D3 transmogrify functionality. -

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - CON SEASON

Some credible info about Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 development at Blizzard, courtesy of the poster Fusion at Battlenet, and of course Kotaku: https://kotaku.com/the-past-present-and-future-of-diablo-1830593195 DIII originally planned to have two expansions but since it was perceived a "failure" after launch Blizzard decided to scrap the second one before seeing how Reaper of Souls performed to jump straight into D4 development. D4 started in 2014 as Project hades. over the should point of view, dark souls inspired title. Was scraped around 2016. D4's second iteration code named Fenris started around 2016. Want to make it dark, scary atmosphere like DII, remove cartoony graphics. Not sure if they want to do over the shoulder or isometric camera. (how can this even be an argument) much more. see below. Even as speculation this already relieves me so much. Pretty sad that this journalist has provided us more information than Blizzard has though.
