  1. I'd like to point out that the backer achievement prevents even me, a backer, from getting 100% completion if I ever buy the game on Steam. I redeemed my backer key on GOG, so I can get only a regular copy on Steam. I know there are cheats to enable achievements manually, but I believe they shouldn't be taken into account in this discussion.
  2. Female players who throw a game away if they can't play a lithe elf already have lithe elves as an option. For the rest of us, aesthetically pleasing doesn't necessarily mean sexually attractive. I played a Tauren during my brief stint in WoW. I played an Argonian in Elder Scrolls. I'm going to play an orlan in PoE. Btw, hearth orlans have approximately 50% of their bodies covered in fur and shorter, lighter hairs on some not covered parts. It's in the guide.
  3. Yes, GOG games typically get patches later. Waiting a few days doesn't make it "SUCK ASS!!!" in my mind, it is merely a minor inconvenience and not even an inconvenience at all if I'm not planning to play on patch day. Or if I don't want to apply the patch at all. GOG Galaxy does optional autoupdates, I recently got my hands on it so I'll have to look into it. The bottom line is, all methods have drawbacks. It's only natural, isn't it? I don't think I've ever seen anyone arguing that GOG is the best choice in every single aspect. You use what you prefer.
  4. I agree completely, but the sheer butthurt of OCD completionists is hilarious. "But if I don't see the two seconds of Shepard breathing post-credits, I won't have gotten the best ending!"I don't know how breathing made anything better, there's 0.01% chance anyone will find her, so she'll slowly bleed/burn/starve to death. I'd prefer her to die outright, tbh. On topic: I think the achievement was unnecessary. Many backers couldn't care less about getting it, including me (I have Pillars on GOG), but it punishes people who bought the game later. Some of them actually care about getting 100% achievements, even if only for bragging rights (a profile display can look really nice with a few of those, I have to say), and I believe they shouldn't be excluded. It sours their opinion of the game. Legitimate buyers shouldn't be denied any part of the game experience. And I completely agree with the person in the linked Steam discussion who said that all achievements should be achievable in the course of gameplay. I think it's a good rule to follow.
  5. Good point. Maybe half-races could be similar enough to one of their parents' race that they'd use the same model? I'm just trying to think of our options here, I'm not actually for inclusion of half-races, I'm fine without them. Even if they aren't featured in the game at all or appear rarely, it's still time spent on creating their lore and gameplay representation. So sterility is one option to avoid it. TES games used another, with offspring always sharing the race of the mother and possibly inheriting minor traits of the father, which start showing in a significant way only after many generations of interracial breeding (like Bretons, the closest thing to half-elves in that universe).
  6. Not really. How would it work with their ending slides? Does the sequel take place before or after they happened? After is workable because they could be mentioned even if we don't meet them - but many of them aren't available to accompany you, scattered all over the world. Before just doesn't fit RP-wise for some of them and could potentially invalidate their endings from the first game if they die in the second.
  7. Please. The next thing you'll be telling me is that I'm a misandrist because I'm attracted to women. It has nothing to do with racism, people simply have different sexual and aesthetic tastes - and they typically are attracted to people of their own ethnicity. Not always, of course. The exotic has its own appeal and I'm sure there would be enough interest in every race. But you suggest to ban same-species relations altogether and I'm not convinced it would be beneficial for the Salty Mast for reasons outlined earlier. As a side note, I don't doubt your preference for short girls, but knowing my male friends, not many would be okay with their girlfriends staying werewolfy all year round.
  8. Elves and humans, yes. Maybe dwarves if you don't mind the height difference (many do). But good luck convincing an average human girl to sleep with a midget covered in fur. Or a human guy to get a blowjob from a lady with shark teeth.
  9. Still, the fact remains that no way am i going to raise my mechanics to 10 on all 6 of my characters. Why would you be raising mech to all characters? Priest and rogue are obvious choices, maybe one other, you certainly don't need whole team on it. Because we can't have a trap guy in the current system, so if you want to specialize in traps, you have to invest in it with all your characters. Sure, it isn't necessary for normal gameplay, but if you want to use a lot of traps...
  10. It seems that your traps literally weren't there. :D Every party member can place one trap for a maximum of six per encounter. If they try to place more, their previous trap disappears.
  11. NWN2 is a godawful game and I quit it in frustration every time I tried to play it. The camera controls are some of the worst I've ever seen. It entirely killed any desire I had to play MoTB despite hearing good things about it. New Vegas didn't receive (enough) professional acclaim because... actually, I've no clue. It has better user scores on both Metacritic and Steam, thought it sold fewer copies. I guess BGS > Obsidian in the eyes of the public.
  12. Due to recent paid mods shenanigans, angry users voted Skyrim down to 8.0. I'm sure Bethesda haters will take some comfort in knowing that PoE is now officially better perceived.
  13. You can do only 3 bounties before starting Act 3, though.
  14. I don't see why the concept of good and evil needs to be linked to the existence of a divine being. Good and evil are social constructs, often with religious roots, but religions are also man-made, so it makes no difference. Someone should just pull the dialogues out of game files and check if good or evil are ever mentioned by NPCs. If they are, it would instantly put this discussion to rest.
  15. Right, but who looks at names of autosaves? I didn't even know I had a save labeled "endgame" until I read your post. Of course, I knew that an IE-style game with ending slides and all would end with the main quest, so I did everything before jumping in the pit. That said, I think story-wise Pillars is well-suited for an open ending. Act 3 puts a lot of pressure on you, stopping Thaos should be the priority, but instead you do everything but chasing him: insignificant Twin Elms side quests, a bunch of bounties and a whole expedition to a giant dungeon. Uhm, the Master Below has been there for years, isn't it just a tad more important to save thousands of souls about to be sacrificed? I can go on an adventure when more pressing issues are taken care of. Admittedly, doing that would interfere with the ending slides. Maybe the proper question is why don't you? I sure do. Why? I'm genuinely curious, I don't see the benefit, especially in a game which doesn't allow us to name saves. I load the game through Continue 99% of time. I usually disable autosaves in games, I didn't in Pillars because it requires a mod, but even so, I don't pay attention to them. I made a manual save before the point of no return. I checked my backup folder and the save is actually called "noreturnsave", not "pre-endgame".

  17. Huh. Does it have only one tooth in the middle? So strange.
  18. Pics, anyone? Of the helmet of course, not of a musk deer with a pair of lovely elongated canines.
  19. I just edited it by adding the word myself; which implies that the lack of enjoyment was due to subjective preferences rather than objective flaws. Is that better? No. 3 is the middle of the scale, so it could very well be the reverse of your description: mediocre game, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. If it was bad and unenjoyable, it would get 1 or 2. Good and enjoyable, 4 or 5. In case of games like PoE, replayability is what decides my score, so I gave it a 4.
  20. If you forget it's even there, I would say that's not a waste of resources at all. What do you mean? It's a separate game mode I never use, it looks like a waste to me. Of course, it might not be to other people.
  21. Just like in every other single player game with multiplayer component, I would ignore it to the point of forgetting it exists. A waste of resources IMO.
  22. I like the menagerie idea. To make it more realistic, you could fight in an enclosed arena in the stronghold; the type of terrain doesn't affect combat anyway. As for bounties, you get them from the Warden's Lodge in Caed Nua (you have to build it first). There are four tiers, so they aren't unlimited, but they provide decent challenge and unique loot.
  23. Bounties provide challenging battles and a reason to revisit old areas. I think it's better than simply repopulating the area with random enemies. There isn't much point in fighting a band of xaurips with a team of level 12 seasoned adventurers. Beside that, why would you want to keep fighting? No experience over the level cap, no great loot, no need for more money... And the game ends with the main quest, so you'd have to delay the final confrontation. Why not start a new game instead?
