  1. Sooo, anyone want to place bets on how fast the dialogue system gets deconstructed and how fast after that romances get inserted?
  2. Depending on the amount of damage it could have no effect. If it has the effect on the soul a papercut would on a person's skin, while it might not be comfortable, it certainly wouldn't cause any real harm.
  3. Yeah, or at least some dead horses lying around that you can beat. Also, wizard hats are essential, there better be wizard hats... As long as the hats are better than those in Skyrim or Dragon Age I'll be happy.
  4. The new touchpad is a nice solution. Depending on how good the touchpad is you could actually make a halfway decent port. Touchpad for inventory control and movement/attack confirmation. Left stick for fast scrolling, right for fine scrolling. Buttons for menus. Vertical d-pad for individual character selection outside of menus, horizontal d-pad to select/deselect entire party. Shoulder buttons to flip through abilities, with one on each trigger. PC would still very much be better though. Using the analog controller as a replacement for a mouse? I don't think that will work well. Are there any examples of a good PC->Console port that does this? I don't think there is any need to do a console port if it isn't as good as the PC version. I think main reason games are made multiplatform is to increase the audience, this is not necessary for Project Eternity because there are no publisher trying to squeeze as more money as possible from the game. Without the touchpad you're left with the stick buttons for selection, which is crappy at best. Not to mention to my knowledge no one has used the sticks for a difference in scroll speed. Also, I did say PC would still be better. It's just that with the touchpad you could actually make a halfway decent port now instead of the utter ****e that it would be without.

  6. Fixed. This is all that needs to be said if it's anything like the IE mods. In fairness, none of the mods that came out for the IE games were all that spectacular until people actually started building their own scripting languages for the game. Then there's the fact that the file format was the opposite of friendly to play with. Given that Obsidian has already stated they will be properly documenting their file format and attempting to make it as clear as possible, it is unlikely that there will be much of an issue in that regard.
  7. Yes. As it should be. Just like I did with Skyrim and FONV. Within 2 months of the modding tools release, someone will mod a better UI. Within 3 you'll have rebalances out both big and small, the majority bad, a few good.
  8. The Dovahkiin does not appreciate your belittling of his 4 suits of dual-enchant dragonscale armor, 1 suit dual-enchant fine clothes, 3 dual-enchant dragonbone bows, 1 dual-enchant dragonbone dagger, and 2 dual-enchant dragonbone swords. .... I got really bored on my 5th playthrough of Skyrim and decided to see just how badly I could break the system.
  9. You are a racist Alan, Volo has spoken. But even worse you are evil, I hope you can deal with this stark and unequivocal assessment of your life Wait, we're still supposed to take Volourn seriously? Why did no one send me that memo?
  10. Considering the best 4k monitors on the market have yet to dip below 8ms grey to grey response time and none of them are over 60FPS and probably won't be for the next 10 years, I think there's still time. And anybody who says the human eye can't distinguish between 60FPS and 80+ is woefully ill-informed. The brain can sense changes between 20 and 300fps depending on how much 'processing power' is available. Now, for low to mid intensity gaming, anything over 60FPS isn't needed because your brain doesn't need to tell the difference. However in any games that rely on 'twitch gaming' such as QIIIA or high level Tetris 100+FPS is distinctly beneficial.
  11. Item 1: Yes Zim did, he got out of his car and followed him. We have no idea what Zimmerman did between hanging up the 911 call and the altercation, but he definitely had enough time to get back to his car- or to go off looking for that "****ing punk" that "always gets away". But despite it being "****ing cold" and raining he hung around an extra 2 minutes in- supposedly- exactly the same place... Now, there's no proof Zim did decide to reconvene his pursuit. But Zim had opportunity to do so and was clearly motivated to do so as well, there's just no proof since the only other witness is dead. If he did, your whole argument reverses. Item 2: Oh ffs. Stand your ground is relevant, Zim just did not use it as an affirmed defence so there was no hearing on the matter. He still has the SYG provisions available though, to whit: "If George Zimmerman was not engaged in an unlawful activity and was attacked in any place where he had a right to be, he had no duty to retreat and had the right to stand his ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he reasonably believed that it was necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony" Yeah, it's a different text style and may be slightly difficult to read, because it's copied direct from the judge's instructions. He was so terrified of immediate injury he never even sought (nor needed) proper medical attention for the "smashed in" face and "bashed" head. And, of course, the still open question is who initiated the conflict and whether Martin was simply standing his ground and that being "attacked in any place where he had a right to be, he had no duty to retreat and had the right to stand his ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he reasonably believed that it was necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself". After all, Zim reaching for his gun- and arguably carrying one at all when pursuing a minor, on a dark night- denotes an intent to use deadly force as well. It's why SYG is so moronic, it gives an advantage to whoever it is draws first and kills the other. Bzzt, wrong. To approach someone means to come close to them. Not merely to keep them within sight as Zimmerman was attempting. As for the judge's instructions, of course they included SYG. They also, as pointed out, included excusable homicide. However, since Z admitted to pulling the trigger purposefully, neither excusable homicide or manslaughter can apply. Since he was told by paramedics that he didn't have any signs of concussion afterwards and probably was not feeling any odd symptoms, of course he didn't go to the hospital. Without any ill feelings, what possible purpose could e have for giving himself a several thousand ER bill. Not to mention that continued attacks may have changed things significantly with regards to injury and the only person Z saw come out rand back inside. Then there's the fact that he had no way of knowing Trayvon was a minor, especially if he saw his gold teeth when Trayvon approached his vehicle. He looked anywhere between 16 and 22 in his actual recent pictures.
  12. Thus proving you've ignored everything about this case and several very hepful links within the thread. Item 1 - Zimmerman did not choose to approach Martin. Trys to follow having lost Martin for 20-30 seconds after being asked "where's he going" by the dispatcher and then stopping AFTER the dispatcher says "we don't need you to do that" in reference to his attempt to follow(neither of which have a relevence to the law as dispatch services only offer advice which reduces their personal liability). Between this point in the conversation and when according to the prosecution's star witness MARTIN confronts Zimmerman, 4 minutes pass. Last Z saw of M, he took off running. From where he took off running the house he was staying at was less than 200 yards away. That means that given where the debris field started, M came back looking for Z having had ample time to make it to his house and say... call the cops. Thus, any prospective burden of confrontation, even in German law, rests solely on M's shoulders. Item 2 - SYG law never had anything to do with the case. Never did. It was a controversy drummed up by anti-gun and race baiting **** to make the story seem more in favor of Martin. Item 3 - By the time Z pulled his gun and shot M, he had been on the ground screaming for help for 30-40 seconds. His face was being smashed in and head bashed against a concrete sidewalk. If he knew ANYTHING about head injuries at all he would know that if that continued serious injury or death had a pretty good chance of being the result. He had seen one guy come outside, but rather than pull the M off him, he just went back inside to call the cops. It wasn't until after all that occured that Z pulled his gun and shot M. Moreover, according to Z, because he was attempting to shimmy his head from the concrete to the grass the waistband of his shirt rode up and his gun in the IWB holster became visible to M, at which point M said "you're gonna die tonight MF" and attempted to go for the gun. Z then gets control of the gun and shoots once.
  13. And Zimmerman continues his racist campaign of terror by... helping a family out of a crashed truck. http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-emerged-hiding-truck-crash-rescue/storynew?id=19735432
  14. Woah guys what's with all the hatred towards Piers Morgan? I enjoy his show and most of the time he maintains a difficult level of decorum despite interviewing people that can be aggressive and completely intransigent. He also isn't afraid to tackle some of the USA real social issues like Gun Control despite the fact people are almost militant about it and obviously these topics create negative publicity for him from certain sectors, like that absurd petition to get him deported. For me he is someone that is quite prepared to make a stand on topics even though other news reporters stay away from them as there are easier subjects to debate. @ Calax He definitely doesn't hate celebs and has many famous people on his show who come willingly for interviews. But I will say he is a liberal and has a few friends in the far right. Well, in the two interviews posted, he was baiting and firing off barbed questions like nobodies business, and when called on it immediately swapped topics. And he wasn't a good talk show host, letting his guest at least partly lead the conversation, instead he's basically attempting to keep control of the entire conversation and trying to get his guests to just say exactly what he wants them to for the sound bite. Understand, this is a guy who knew about the phone hacking scandal from recent years, but didn't think that it was any big deal. And he's apparently also known for using paparazzi as weapons in feuds against other public personalities. He got punched by Jeremy Clarkson because Morgan was attempting to drag Clarkson through the mud as an adulterer. From what I've seen he's effectively the mirror image(Not the opposite, two different concepts) of Blubbering-vagina O'Reilly. And of course BruceVC likes him. Wave the flag of Gun Control and BruceVC immediately becomes your best buddy.
  15. What is a militant atheist? Do they go door to door and say "Have you welcomed science into your life?" Or wave guns at you telling you not to pray? Well, I suppose that's ONE way to describe the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Seeng as the official 'religion' of the USSR was atheism.
  16. Erm, suddenly weighed in? As soon as the case became national news he said "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon". By which he apparently meant his son would get himself a set of gold teeth posthaste. And then he immediately set the FBI into looking at the hate crimes angle, who less than a month later came back and from an investigation standpoint effectively said "You're out of your ****ing mind if you think this guy was racist".
  17. So something like Torchlight 2's skill system where there are minor increases each point put in with a major increase in utility every 5 levels spent?
  18. Although without media's meddling whole case wouldn't have gone in court at all, as police at first say that there is no need for investigation. Which was in my understanding the main reason why the case got so widely known and which also caused race and racism speculations. And given the prosecution's closing statement it's pretty ****ing clear they had bupkis and knew it prior to the trial. They outright admitted that they know of no action prior to John Good seeing Zimmerman getting the **** beat out of him that was in any way, shape, or form illegal on the part of Zimmerman. Which means they had no action to pin the shooting on anything besides self defense.
  19. hmm good point. perhaps all attributes should have combat and non-combat applications. which brings me back to why do we need attributes in the first place outside of character creation flavor? Off the top of my head, because it allows for burst damage focused characters, average damage characters, survivable characters, and secondary effect(stun slow debuff heal buff) characters that otherwise would have to run everything through skills/abilities. It allows another level of control So what is the problem with that method aside from association with Asian MMORPGs? The most obvious being that is removes most planning from chargen, makes it impossible to make/customize a character specialized in specific weapons. I mean why should a character who has say a high Agility score be able to wield a Long Sword or a Spear with equal proficiency. wrong example, perhaps a crossbow would be better. why would more strength increase the damage of a crossbow? higher dexterity boosts accuracy with weapons, thus increasing the chance to hit (this was even a feat with D&D). but more damage? that would be strength, unless you have a nonphysical weapon (turn undead) or a weapon that uses mechanical operation for its strength (like a crossbow). Depending on crossbow design it would have adjustable tension. In which case strength would determine how fast it took to load or even if you were able to fire it at all. How is it diferent than any IE game you can name? Class>stats. A STR10/DEX10?CON10 is still a better fighter and tank that a STR20/DEX20?CON20 wizard Actually, in 3.5 the spellcaster would almost certainly be the better tank and possibly the better melee specialist depending on spell choice. Assuming the primary mental stats was at least 16, possibly 17. Note, the above is more of a reflection on how ****ty basic fighter design was in well, all the D&D games until Pathfinder/4th Ed. The only reason it wasn't that notable in 1st/2nd ed was because everybody else was so much weaker until med-high levels for the spellcasters
  20. Given that attributes will more likely be based on aspects of your soul rather than straight physicalites it makes perfect in-game sense. Now, depending on how they implement it it could still easily be a ****ty system, but it is rather easy to explain lore wise given the focus on the soul. No it didn't. 3.5 gave you the Con based Hellfire Warlock. Which was utterly broken less than a year after it came out since the Item Compendium came out and there was a multiple use per day item that was relatively cheap(for when you could enter HW) that healed your Con points like a Pez dispenser. Especially since any Warlock that wasn't stupid sat there and took the Magicraft feats. Besides which 4th ed was just a watered down version of the Bo9S applied to all classes anyway.
  21. Hispanics aren't really considered white because of the Arab and Moor influence both cultural and genetic during the whole Al-Andalus thing which lasted for 3/4 of a millenia. Then there was the whole Spanish empire and further mingling with the native populations in their colonies.
  22. A 1911 machined to original tolerances is just as if not more reliable than a glock. In fact, except for the extractor it will on average last quite a bit longer and the extractor is just a small piece of spring steel. Hell, that's true for most modern(as in post 1900) pistol designs. The problem is a bunch of manufacturers substitute MIM parts and try to tighten tolerances to get 100 yard accuracy instead of 50 yard. This causes internals to break and also causes the gun to bind and jam.
  23. First of all, if god were to do such a thing he would CLEARLY have given everyone a gun designed by St. John Moses Browning. In the case of shotguns this means the lever action 1887, the pump-action 1897, or the Auto-5. There is also the 1910 but a 10 Gauge shotgun is right out. Secondly, you either meant the Mossberg 500 or Remington 870.
  24. Which has jack all to do with the charge of CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. Being unreasonable is not in and of itself against the law. If it was over 3/4 of the US would at one point or another be in jail.
  25. In what way did I misrepresent the Alexander case. Please enlighten me. Was I wrong in saying the father and children were physically near each other when shot at by the mother? Or when I said the bullet went through the kitchen wall and into the living room ceiling? Or when I said she had already retreated thus negating any advantage the SYG law gave her in the initial confrontation? Where EXACTLY have I misrepresented the Alexander case? So while they may not be incarcerated simply by being a minority, unless we feel that white people are actually more likely to carry weapons, there something at play here. It need not specifically be racial either. There are also large racial divides for education levels and socioeconomic status, which are also correlated with criminal activity. It's why there was some controversy over Pennsylvania cutting funding for public schooling while investing in prisons (although, based on this article there was some level of misinformation that went viral). Much like how, when police officers start abusing their powers (as brought up in other threads the past month), I do feel that it is important to be mindful as to why incarceration rates differ, to certainly make sure foul play is mitigated as much as possible. It could also go to show that investment in other avenues than purely reactive, punitive measures may also have impacts on crime rates and the like. Were the Stop and Frisk incidents plotted by general location? And then those general locations with the highest number of guns found surveyed for average number of whites vs blacks? Not necessarily the cause of the data disparities, but a possible one. In order for criminal negligence to be applicable, a reasonable person would have had to foresee that the most likely scenario following their actions was that Martin would double back and start to beat the **** out of them, 40 seconds later see their gun, and then attempt to grab the gun and try to kill the reasonable person with it forcing the reasonable person to shoot them instead.
