  1. It also means they don't suffer from acting against there faith, so it's pretty net neutral. Faith and Conviction is decent without the boosts from following favoured behaviour, and you can always take Deep Faith for an added extra.
  2. I'm level 8 already and I've still not finished act 1. I don't mind TBH, but I can see why some people have reservations about the current leveling of experience.
  3. All have per rest uses as far as I can tell, which sweet because charges suck.
  4. I pretty sure in development they said companions should epitomise their race or class. Due to that, I don't think making her a unique race is much of a big deal (I mean lets face it, there's better Godlikes out there already - her ability is good but not exceptional). It's also why Sagani has a fox companion, etc. I'm sure there's more examples of companions having unique and interesting traits, but I'm still in act 1 so I wouldn't know.
  5. I like Durance's line in the Salty Mast, something about satisfying his "other staff"... He's talking about his ****.
  6. Didn't know if there was any other settings that I should be aware of, I guess not. Thanks, I'll try that.
  7. So I installed this on my partner's Windows 8 laptop using GOG, but comparatively to my mac the performance seems a lot worse even though the specs are similar. Any options that I should check, etc., to improve performance? All I've done so far is lower the graphics settings - I wasn't sure if there was something more specific that could be done.
  8. I like fully voice acted (like FO:NV) but to be honest now I'm used to it I don't care. I did initially find it a bit jarring when people would voice act and switch to not bothering, but now it just feels like a quirk of the game adding to its uniqueness.
  9. I play expert mode so they're off by proxy, still I think it's the better way to go. Games like Arcanum never had qualifiers (for attributes like Strength to intimidate or for skills like persuasion) and I think it makes it more enjoyable and more varied for future playthroughs.
  10. Okay good to know, hopefully they'll patch it out then.
  11. Has it occurred post patch? It's still going on for me.
  12. As an update, I thought killing these random friendly skeletons would be a good idea and might make them go away - but now the skeleton "corpses" are just appearing everywhere. They clip into scenery and stuff so it is rather annoying. Anyone, at all, also experienced this and have an idea?
  13. So I'm unsure whether this is a hold-over from the before I patched, but occasionally pre-patch Kana's skeletons wouldn't disappear (not an issue I've noticed now I have patched, presumably when they tuned up combat ending properly). After this and before I patched, a new bug occurred where the skeletons are now found on every map I go on in random locations - they just stand there not following me around or doing anything else (I have seen enemies attack them, but even when they die they don't appear to go away on any other maps). I can still summon skeletons, but even when I do this the one's on the map don't go away. I think it first occurred on the Endless Paths level 2, but I don't have any saves from around that time now. Not a big deal as it doesn't affect play, but seeing them everywhere is a bit of an immersion killer. Any thoughts how to stop this? Specs: Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB Software OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
  14. Barbarians have terrible deflection and go do reasonably fast when they're surrounded (not immediately, but they're not going to be tanking like a Fighter). I thinking it's just to give them more of a chance in these situations, but yeah it is a pretty powerful ability.
  15. I'd say of the high endurance classes who you aren't expecting to do too much tanking (or just people who are completely ranged in the first place) it's a bit of waste, particularly with Barbarians who buff their Con back to around the 10 mark with Frenzy and Greater Frenzy anyway. Far better to have Dex (more hits), Might (more damage), Per (more interrupt - though again I wouldn't prioritise this), Resolve (more Concentration) and Intellect (greater Carnage AoE and Frenzy duration) than more endurance on top of what is already a sizeable endurance anyway. Also if you do have very hight Might, your Fortitude saves don't suffer either really completely negating that drawback to a large extent too. For me I ran Might 21, Constitution 3, Dexterity 18, Perception 3, Intellect 18 and Resolve 15 for a bit of perspective - for high DPS it's doing pretty well killing over half of all the enemies so far that the party has faced.
  16. It's still rocking a 90 on metacritic, which as far as I'm aware is the bench people use for a very good game (hell for FO:NV Bethesda only wanted 85 to provide Obsidian Royalties, so even if it dips below it's now a bad thing).
  17. I do think in some ways more information could have been provided on the attributes, I rerolled my first Ranger as I didn't realise Might would affect damage.
  18. Thanks, apparently re-downloading it isn't necessary so long as you kept the old install. However I'm unsure what that means in regards to saves.
  19. Wasn't sure whether this was best in Technical Issues or here, so I did both (a mod can delete one as appropriate). When I try to install the mac patch from GOG I get the message "This patch will not work with your version!" and then the install fails, any ideas? Here's my specs: Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB Software OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)

  21. I'm stuck on the same bit, all at level 5 and on hard. I just decided to come back later. Likewise the bounties, I can't do any of them yet so I'll treat them the same. I only wanted to use storied companions initially so I could probably have an easier time of it if I recruited more - but who cares.
  22. I think Paladins, at least Wayfarers, are pretty decent - you can hit hard and tank whilst healing Endurance (making my attribute picks for them high Might, highish resolve, medium Int and Con). Give them Hold the Line, and they're pretty similar to a Fighter (arguably nicer in that they don't have to use a defensive mode which lowers their attack speed as their offenses are already sky high) - but with added healing (even without being a Wayfarer you can cleric with Lay on Hands) and reasonable modal party buffs. Plus, Bleak Walkers are cool I just think they're a bit outclassed in all their uses by classes dedicated to each respective function (for tanking Fighters are better, for high DPS Barbarians and Ciphers are better, for healing Priests and possibly Chanters are better, and for modal buffs again Chanters are better) - however their versatility and the fact they can cover a lot of these niches in one package is pretty good. Are they the best at any one niche? No. Are they good at a great deal of them? Yes. The Ranger from personal experience I've found to be pretty much garbage - you don't need to be a Ranger to use ranged weapons effectively so what's the point? Plus the animal companion is a complete waste - I took the bear thinking it would be tanky but even with Resilient Companion it still went down remarkably easily, producing holes in my line that let people get to my squishies which was not good at all. I guess you'd be best going for a high damage animal and using it to flank all the time, but better yet don't pick a Ranger. Having said that - maybe a party with 5 Rangers and a Fighter would be fun, you'd have so many critters running around and so much ranged damage that you'd imagine stuff would go down pretty easy. I'm finding the Barbarian to be great, I'm playing on hard and started with a Con of 3 (so that I could maximise Might, Dex and Int and have decent Res as I also dropped Per to 3) and they're still surprisingly tanky - not as tanky as a Fighter but they also vastly out damage a Fighter so there you go. Carnage really is a great ability, the AoE with high Int is impressive and it dramatically helps with clearing a room (allowing you to focus on whatever heavy hitter they've got going on and kill the weaker annoyances at the same time). Overall I'd definitely encourage people to go for a Barbarian on their party for high DPS.
  23. Doing it in fast mode can take around 15 minutes, I've found - especially as you know where you're going and what you're doing at this point.
  24. You still don't get that from other skills, the point stands. Don't tell me how other things which offer XP (available to all characters), tell me how it balances with the XP gain of other skills - which it does not.
  25. That's pretty silly. Task XP at least takes more effort than a simple click - all the other stuff mentioned takes even more effort. It terms of balance, you're really looking at one skill that is very advantageous as opposed to a lot that offer little use. Besides some of the loot is pretty good, I'm sure it proffers unique weapons in some locations. I never said it was "ruining the game" for me, but as of a slight preference I would prefer no XP offered - or at least the other skill XP to be brought into line with that.
