The All Things Political Topic - In politics stupidity is not a handicap
I'd say he's more likely to hear objections from Congress than from Europe. The US troop force in Europe has already shrunk from a peak of 300,000. It's going to be costly to redeploy the remaining forces, and even more so if we ever need to return. But, whatever, we're in stupid mode so par for the course.

PILLARS OF ETERNITY 3
Personally I'd like to see a PoE: Tactics game. I.e. something akin to Fallout Tactics, but with the Eora lore and character builds. Maybe include prior companions with a new protagonist, dealing with the conflicts that followed the outcome of PoE 2. If they made it moldable and extensible, that'd be even better.

Cinema and Movie Thread: coming 2 a theater near u
Here's an upcoming movie I'm looking forward to watching: The concept is a bit reminiscent of Moon (2009), except on an interstellar scale. So maybe Moon: TNG.

What You've Done Today...or yesterday...or what you are doing RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!!
We had another light dusting of snow here, but it cleared up after a day. Looks like we're in for a warming trend, so hopefully it's back to normal now.

Hulu -- Lazarus Project. It's been pretty good so far, being about a time loop setting in a sci-fi, mission-oriented context. The team is working to prevent mass extinction events by setting up a loop baseline then jumping back to repeat events when things don't go right.

New Scientific Discoveries, Part Vier
KM3NeT Telescope Detects Most Energetic Cosmic Neutrino Yet A particle that rarely interacts with normal matter yet its "energy was roughly a 100 million billion times the energy of visible light photons..." Whoa. It's something called a cosmogenic neutrino.

What You've Done Today...or yesterday...or what you are doing RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!!
I'm off to donate blood again tomorrow. It usually just takes an hour of my time, and at least I feel like I'm contributing something. I have that universal donor O-negative blood that is much sought by emergency rooms. At my age it usually takes a few days to recover my energy, but at least I'm getting rid of more senescent cells. (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.) It's just in time too; there's more snow on the way in the forecast. We may get up to three inches by Friday. I think I'll plan on staying home and reading a good book (The Bookseller of Florence by Ross King).

Starfinder Roleplaying Game
Okay, I recently found out about Starfinder Roleplaying Game, the sci-fi version of the Pathfinder RPG, and it has me interested. It reminds me of the old Star Frontiers game, which I had an opportunity to try back in the day. Apparently now Pazo is converting it to compatibility with 2nd edition Pathfinder rules so you can swap between the two. Currently they have published playtest versions of the rules, which sounds like a novel approach. They are planning to release the 2nd edition version of Starfinder early this year (2025), so I'm planning to pick up a copy for evaluation. Has anybody played Starfinder PnP? I'm curious to know your experiences. My sci-fi RPG PnP experiences are with Star Frontiers, GURPS, and HERO. For sci-fi, I've enjoyed the Fallout/Wasteland/SW:TOR/Rogue Trader video games. Some day I'd like to enjoy a sci-fi tactical RPG video game akin to Star Frontiers, and Starfinder sounds promising for that purpose.

I could swear that sometimes the game rigs the dice rolls. I've been through battles making dozens of attacks and never getting higher than an 11. It's weird and very improbable.- The All Things Political Topic - In politics stupidity is not a handicap
Today in dumb: Trump says he’s given advisers instructions for Iran to be ‘obliterated’ if it assassinates him Code name: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Just to put that in perspective, Iran has a population of 91 million. The total deaths in World War II were estimated at 70-85 million. So what happens if, say, Israel takes him out in the guise of an Iranian plot? I think there's a more tempered response available in the form of smart bombs. In the meantime, Iran has more motivation to build nuclear weapons.- The All Things Political Topic - In politics stupidity is not a handicap
