  1. I'm finding Dorodo is a pretty good watch. It's certainly more adult oriented than many Anime series, with less of the goofy humor. The art for this fantasy medieval Japanese-style setting is decent as well.
  2. Another incompetent decision has now been reversed: In reversal, Trump administration restores classes at the National Fire Academy
  3. As usual, after complaining about a Democratic President's deficit spending, the Big B.S. Bill is predicted to add $3.7 trillion/decade to the deficit. Well at least that is less than the $7.8 trillion added during Trump's first term. (Biden's was $6.2 trillion.)

Norm! Yeah, back in college we all watched Cheers in the lounge. Good series it was.
  5. I'm watching Orphan Black: Echoes on Hoopla w/ Krysten Ritter. It's a pretty nice service; all I need is a library card to check out an episode.
  6. Trump confronts South African leader with baseless claims of the systematic killing of white farmers Well either Trump-whisperer Musk has him turned, or Trumps cray-cray is leaking. Maybe both.
  7. My Sis had a nice trip to Scotland, England, and France all planned out, and I was happy for her since she's had some difficult times lately. She ends up in a hospital in Scotland with Legionnaire's disease. Sheesh, who gets Legionnaire's disease? Anyway, she's resting up and recovering now, thank goodness. But the holiday had to be cancelled.
  8. Chicago Sun-Times prints summer reading list full of fake books It looks like we're living in "interesting" times. Or at least fakery times.
  9. New policy limits new COVID-19 vaccines to just older adults and at-risk kids, thereby stopping the virus in it tracks. 🙄 New Trump vaccine policy limits access to COVID shots The new health policy seems to be, "just die already, will ya?"
  10. It's interesting that a guy with six bankruptcies to his name is now telling Walmart how to ru(i)n their business. 🤑
  11. It's pretty typical for economic rivals to disparage each other. Conflict with China seems more likely to occur through proxies, as is the case in Ukraine. An open clash is too likely to risk nuclear war, and China has been quietly increasing their nuclear stockpile.
  12. There's lots of faux outrage today over Comey's posting of an image of 8647. I'd always taken to '86' something means to reject it, but in some corners of the internet that's apparently being taken as a death threat. Huh. 🙄
  13. It should be interesting to see how Congress tries to counter the Presidential power to underspend the budget. I could see them adding incentive clauses; if, say, 90% of the budget isn't spent within an alloted period, then the President's favorite budget items get defunded.
  14. Meh, it's a matter of degree I suppose. This criticism can be applied to most governments. DJT is just unusual in comparison to most of his predecessors.
  15. Yeah, it's not a good look. But then it's par for the course, I suppose. DJT lacks any sort of moral compass.
  16. More time for the diplomacy *COUGH*bribes*COUGH* to kick in, I suppose. Unfortunately, it is maintaining an unhealthy business environment.
  17. Pope Leo XIV was born in the US, a resident of the country for more than 14 years, and is over 35 years old. According to the Constitution, that makes him eligible to run for the US Presidency. Well that would make things interesting...
  18. I'm waiting for the Andor season 2 to wrap so I can binge watch both seasons, probably followed by Rogue One. Can't wait! Meanwhile, I'm watching the new Daredevil season. What I'm finding these days is that I prefer a low power superhero series as it can focus more on the drama and less on spectacular visual f/x for the various uber powers. Plus they don't overload the cast with power variants.
  19. I've got a globe made of inlaid stone that's 3 times the Schwarzschild radius. I'm sure it's perfectly safe.
  20. Yes, the Dems are a mess right now. They need to focus more on issues that impact voters, like health care and the economy.
  21. I think a trade deal with GB can be considered low hanging fruit. Only 194 more foot surgeries to go.
  22. Yes, that is the "best case" scenario. In my mind it depends on what happens with the mid-term elections. If they are fair and represent the majority view, I'll feel more optimistic.
  23. I enjoyed Sanctuary, a Witch's tale on AMC+. It was better than I was expecting and was actually more about the drama than fantasy magic. The modern witch hunt tale felt entirely plausible, given human nature.
