  1. Well Faux News is available in Canada, so they may be having some of the same irrational influence up there. Besides, everybody can join the same forums on the net.
  2. I picked up Solaris and I'm enjoying it thus far. There's a bit of a learning curve since I never played 5e before. The one oddity is that cleric spell preparation is handicapped by whether you have a free hand available at the time. There's no way to correct that unless you remember before long resting.
  3. Ivermectin does not prevent severe COVID-19, study finds This isn't really a surprise as we've seen similar study results before. It's still not clear to me why the right became all "religious" (in the dogmatic sense) about this drug.
  4. The Fourth Geneva Convention disallows bombings that are indiscriminate or in the form of reprisals against civilians. https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/ihl/WebART/470-750065 I believe Russia is a signatory. The question then is whether the Aleppo bombings violate those accords. If there were military targets in the bombed locations, then it might be found legal, if inhumane.
  5. I wonder if we'll have a big tutu turnout next 2's day? (I.e. Tuesday Feb. 2, 2022.) Or perhaps a teutonic tutelage?
  6. Chaotic evil, but amusing
  7. Machinehood by S. B. Divya Modern sci-fi stories about the near future sure seem busy with all the tech-culture details. But at least this one keeps the number of characters to a minimum so you get some occasional character development in there.
  8. Prince Andrew reaches a settlement with Virginia Giuffre in sexual abuse lawsuit Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more. 'Bout what I expected. The Royals want it all to vanish.
  9. The Superbowl now is like watching an old 20th Century variety show. The actual match is almost besides the point, given all the shows, asides, and expensive advertisements they throw in between the plays. They managed to turn about 20 minutes of actual action into an eight hour show.
  10. Common Over-the-Counter Medication May Provide Relief for People With Long COVID-19 Symptoms
  11. You mean this was all just Putin's plan to make Ukrainians pay more for airplane tickets? Ah.
  12. Potential Third Planet Discovered Orbiting Proxima Centauri Hopefully, the Webb ST will be able to give us a better picture of the system using its coronagraph.
  13. I'm continuing to look for low sodium food products. One surprise is that organic canned food often has significantly less sodium than non-organic; like under a third as much. Perhaps the product doesn't need to be drowned in as much salt to give it flavoring? Anyway, the low sodium level makes it worth the cost, for me.
  14. I got my booster shot yesterday. Thus far just a mildly sore arm -- the same as for the first two. It should carry me through to the Summer at any rate.
  15. That's in my neck of the woods, and it was pretty disturbing to watch on the news. This area is generally very tolerant. IIRC, they interviewed the perp's roommate and his description made the suspect seem like a sociopath. Hopefully the attacker gets locked away for a long time.
  16. Supposedly the Ukraine has had a mild winter and the snow is starting to melt. Generals Mud and Snow may work against Putin this time.
