one thing i never understood how it works are the interviews. most of what the applicant says are lies and the HR guy knows it but still he expects from the applicant to say them. are they looking for the kind of applicant that can keep the best straight face while saying those lies?

his tree was not a giant tree. but he could have planted it a bit further from the sidewalk or chosen a tree that grows roots vertically instead of sideways

never had such a problem when fixing my teeth. most of the time i don't even need anything for the pain during the procedure much less after. the only time i had a problem was when i had to pull out a wisdom tooth that broke (otherwise i'd still have it in my mouth like the other 2*) and it was very hard to pull out so it took 3 doctors and 140 minutes of work to break it to pieces while still attached to my jaw and get it out like that. but even after that i was fine just taking an aspirin a few hours later. *i had another one that broke a few years later but that just popped out without any effort at the first pull.

i think its time to look for a UPS with lithium batteries, because the one i have now is old and uses conventional batteries that i have to keep replacing. i wonder if lithium batteries are compatible with the one i have

yep, like the media vs eyewitness side of the story for the refugees in Greece: media: look how these tragic people come out of the sea after their boat was sunk eyewitness: the media had them to go waist deep in the water and walk out so they can take pictures

sounds like it from the description. CTS is when the tendons and nerves get squished together too much and end up tangled, so when you try to move the wrist the tendons pull on the nerves

carpal tunnel syndrome? it's a very light operation that can even be done with just local anesthetics while you are awake... of course i don't know if that is a good idea in your case. and it does not heal itself, so waiting it out was pointless suffering on your part.

however, games are starting to scale better with cores if you look at the relative results between i5 and r5 on older and newer games. the newer the game, the smaller the gap in performance between the 2 CPUs

software companies ALWAYS make stuff based on what the surveys show as being the majority in the hardware specs. if 80% of the consumers have a R5 1500x / i5 7500 and RX 480 / GTX 1060 that's the target hardware for the software makers, even if stuff like R7 2800X / i7 8900k and RX 695X / GTX 1190Ti are out there for enthusiasts.

that is pretty much how it goes in every single country. as George Carlin once said "professional politicians are the people who failed miserably to be anything useful to society"

Corsica is the second largest gate of immigrants from Libia after Sicily; and since Corsica is considered a (semi autonomous i think) part of France (that is responsible for the civil war raging in Libia since the death of Qaddafi) the extremists see it as an easy target for a quick rehearsal before going north

the trick to the 16 core threadripper is the infinity fabric that offers near 100% scalability in performance based on how many smaller chips you put together. what they made from the start are 4c/8t chips. stick 2 of them together through the infinity fabric and you get the 8c/16t 1800X. join 2 with a faulty core each together and you get the 6c/12t 1600. put 4 on the same piece of IF and you get the 16c/32t threadripper. and by adding more 4c pieces to the IF you can just go up to as many cores as it is physically possible to put in a CPU and still be able to fit it into the socket of the board. saves time, saves money and by using a network of smaller chips they get to keep the yield of each wafer up, meaning that they can have more pieces available in the stores and at a lower price

my grandma had a bakery long ago and says that any oven is ok to bake bread as long as you know how. in fact she still bakes bread at home and it's better than any bread you can find in any store

story time my mother and grandma came to visit me for easter with my brother. my brother left because he only had 2 days of leave and had to go back to work, so after they stayed here for a week, i took them back home in my car and decided to stay there a week myself (i live 350km from where my mother lives) i was thinking of coming home Sunday but my mother asked me to take my grandma to visit her brother on that day so i said "ok, i can leave Monday". Monday, my mother needed me to take her to an event hosted by the ministry of education (she's a teacher and she doesn't drive) in the evening so i had to stay one more day back. Tuesday, just as i was getting ready to go, the phone rings and i learn that my uncle (my father's brother) died and the funeral was Thursday. i had to stay until Thursday to take my mother to the funeral (280km in the opposite direction from where i live) and we got back Friday. meanwhile, my grandma's sister was diagnosed with cancer (she lives close to where i live) so my mother asked me to take my grandma on Sunday, bring her to her sister and then go home... she would take the bus back later. on the way the car breaks down, the engine went FUBAR (3rd time overheating) and i had to go back to my mother's home. the mechanic said that it would take 1000 euro to put in an undamaged used engine (if i payed cash "tax free") i called a cousin of mine who is a mechanic and he told me that more or less that is the price anyone would ask, but that it was far too risky to do the engine swap in a 17 year old car, since there is no chance to find a new engine and even with the best of intentions, there is no guarantee that the used put in would not break down in a month. so i went out on the hunt for a decent used car i was taking my time to see if i may stumble upon a good offer as i did back in 2004, when i found that 4 year old Hyundai (1500cc, 90bhp) with only 30k km for just 4000 euro but the anxiety of my grandma about her sister was growing exponentially every day that passed and i didn't get a new car and by Friday she got herself a stroke so, being the only person who had no work to do, i had to pass a week babysitting my grandma in the hospital (the severity of the stroke was barely 1/10 so she was pretty much back to normal after 24 hours, but standard procedure in these cases is to keep the patient inside for 1 week for observation) so for that week i didn't get any chance to look for a car since i was staying 12 hours in the hospital to put my mother's mind at ease. after my grandma came home, i went back to searching and by Friday i found a Chevrolet Lacetti of 2006 (1600cc, 110bhp) with only 70k km at 3000 euro (the guy selling it was leaving for Australia by the end of June and couldn't take the car with him, so he was giving it away cheap) however, the ministry department where purchases of new cars or swapping of a car's ownership are registered, needs a week after registration to provide the card that is proof of ownership of a car and allows to drive it legally and this is how my one week time off, became 6 weeks of suffering... and of keeping my business closed

yeah, but saying "you should not have made the new road because now you get traffic jams" is just stupid, considering how the old road was a death trap there is simply nothing you can do when the media want to bash you. if you pick A, they complain for not picking B. if you pick B, they complain for not picking A, if you pick both, they complain that you don't have a clear stance and you waste resources.

i heard some news a few days ago. a court here decided that in street accidents involving motorcycles, the motorcycle driver will be held guilty until proven innocent because 90% or more of these drivers have total disregard for traffic laws - especially fast food delivery guys. in other news, my cat seems to be allergic to pollen. since spring began she sneezes all the time. and of course the journalists here should get the sophistry award for 2017. about a month ago a new, 200km highway was completed and replaced the old ruined roads that claimed dozens of lives every holiday. during easter, this new road was used by 700k cars and nobody died (there were a few minor accidents but no serious injuries), however because of the number of cars and the fact that there are still some places where the work is not complete, there was a big jam in a couple of places so the anti-government media started saying that it's the new road's fault because having a big road made everyone leave the cities and go to the countryside causing the jams... this impeccable logical argument is like saying "people get sick because there are hospitals, if we shut down the hospitals people will avoid getting sick"

my brother can't get subtle things like this. he knows all he needs to get the joke but until i pointed it out, he couldn't make the connection.
