i thought this was a different type of discussion. one about the awful and lazy level locked items system. still, both systems have their merit but in a purely RP light, using whatever weapon you find is bad... and unrealistic actually. my character is a swordsman; always was, always will be and he never trained in the use of other weapons. he has a decent sword and finds a very good mace and a godlike axe. while the stats are good, he never learned how to use these weapons and it takes years of training to master any one weapon so just grabbing an axe and swinging it is a bad idea and while the mace takes little skill, its still used in a much different way than a sword and that could leave him out of balance (due to a conflict between his intentions and his muscle memory) so he puts both aside and waits for luck to put a better sword in his way. one other way of simulating muscle memory would be a soft cap. each weapon skill can go up to 100 and you can have a total of 250 weapon points. you master sword and spear and when you try to master the mace, for every point over 50 in the mace, 1 point will be deducted from one of the other 2 skills. as your body gets more accustomed to the use of the mace, the muscle memory you built for the other weapons is being replaced by the habits formed from swinging a weapon that requires a different set of muscles to be effective

i laugh so much when somebody in a f2p online game says "get a job" to someone complaining about something he can't afford. the guy saying it is probably someone who has no idea what work is and just has loaded parents.

i almost had an accident with the car yesterday. the new highway is closed for maintenance so for that part all traffic is diverted to the old road that is 1 lane in each direction and full of corners. as one point, as i was coming close to a corner with no visibility, i saw a truck coming from the other side with several cars lined up behind it. the problem was that one of the cars had a very impatient driver who decided to pass everyone in front of him at once and right on top of the blind corner so we ended up playing chicken with neither of us having any room to move to the side. i pushed the brakes hard, the truck driver did the same (along with everyone behind him) and somehow we made just enough room for him to get back to his lane without crashing head on into me. had i been just a bit closer to the corner when i spotted him coming out on my lane, there would be no room to avoid a collision... hell, had i been driving a truck i wouldn't even brake and just ram the idiot

my cat doesnt mind belly rubs... of course my cat is also in the habit of looking at herself in the mirror while grooming her fur when other cats see a mirror and hiss to that intruding cat in there

For me is that I can't stand social norms that are supposed to bring people together but only help them connect on a shallow level. Being acutely aware of this and the underlining meaning of these rituals has made me a bit of a party popper. That said; it is fun to pretend, I have gotten out of my shell and made some connections just by playing to expectations. I guess we just have to contend with the fact that humans are shallow and selfish creatures; I know I am. thinking about it, it may be a conditioned reflex on my part to dislike things for normies like this. i have always been very shy and being unable (or too lazy) to overcome it, i unconsciously developed an aversion for everything that has to do with interacting with other people (only professional interactions are tolerable).

every time i go to a social event i keep asking myself "how is this supposed to be fun?". everyone around me seems to be having a good time but i just can't see what's so fun about it. could it be a conditioned reflex that i never developed - to take the axiom social event=fun and forge weld it into the brain so that i can unconsciously feel joy just by being there?

a few months ago, my brother changed his FX6300 with a ryzen 1600 but he kept the old mobo+cpu+ram+cooler, and we still had an old HD4850, so now i got a case+screen+psu+hdd and made a PC for my mother to replace her VERY old laptop that with a mere 2GB of ram could not even run a single window of chrome without running out of memory and having to use the just as old hdd for very slow virtual memory. she doesn't use use any complicated or heavy stuff (i.e games) and is mostly going on facebook, youtube and other sites or uses MS office so having a computer that does not freeze after every click is a huge upgrade for her EDIT now this is strange. when i made that pc for my mother, i changed the thermal paste on the CPU and putting the cooler back on, the base was centered on the CPU today i changed paste on my FX8350 and i noticed that the cooler is not sitting on the center... and i use the same motherboard and cooler as the other pc when i first put the paste on the temperature seemed to be a bit high but as the paste bonded well with the two metal surfaces, it started going down rapidly. the jumping around is still there but now it jumps between 33 and 41 while idle instead of 35-49. the problem is that because my screen is VGA and the RX470 only has digital output, i have to use a signal converter that only activates when windows is on so i can't access the BIOS to see if there is any setting about the fan i can change

btw i just came up with an idea on how to introduce the metric system in USA. start making small changes using the following equation 1 mile = 1000 feet 1 foot = 100 inches 1 inch = 1 centimeter (but don't tell them this last one) so they can keep using the old unit names, but the actual measurements will be in metric

the only time i use alcohol as a painkiller is in case of toothache. i just put some vodka, whisky or something else with at least 40% alcohol in my mouth and just keep it there to numb the area. when the effect passes, i swallow it and put some more in my mouth.

Did you clean out the PSU aswell or just the cpu, gpu and chassis fans? of course and i changed the batteries of the UPS. at first i thought the shut downs were from sudden loss of power due to the primitive power lines because i knew that the UPS batteries were on their last legs, but they kept happening even after i got new batteries. the thing that made me say it was a temperature problem was that the RX470 has never gone above 65C and after the undervolting it barely ever goes above 60C, but the last few days it was exceeding 70C. and while i don't monitor CPU temps usually, the few times i did look at them while the Fx8350 was under load, they were about 69-72C and the last few days i saw them at 78-83C. today that its not so hot, the 470 was back to under 65C and the CPU was at around 75C so i guess it was the extremely hot weather to cause the problem, but still some new paste could be useful.
-
the super hot weather passed and now my pc runs again at a more reasonable temperature. of course it may haven't even been the temperature but a power issue from the UPS but since yesterday i didn't encounter the sudden shut downs i got while playing games in the past few days

the cooler is an Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 with almost double the TDP rating of the CPU (200W vs 125W), that's why i think it's a contact problem aka the paste. i will buy some but living out in the sticks it will probably take some time to get here
-
i noticed that at idle the temperature jumps up to 49C and then slowly goes down to 35C then jumps up again... i think this is a sign of the thermal paste gone bad. haven't changed it since i got the CPU about 3 years ago
-
meanwhile my old FX8350 overheats and shuts down if i push it too much because of the summer heat. i avoid gaming because i can't afford to get a new CPU in case this one gets fried. i even cleaned up inside to make the cooler work better but while the average temps went a bit down, in the end there is no avoiding the overheating. maybe i should replace the thermal paste too

haven't cleaned the inside of my pc in a while. now that i did (especially the CPU cooler) temperatures dropped by 4C
