  1. Heavily armored mages actually makes sense in a realistic point of view as well: Front line warriors need to be able to move around, thus often favouring lighter armor, mages however, are usually stationary in combat, so why not wear something protective. Damn, the more I think about this the more sense it makes.
  2. I loved the traps in NwN:HotU. Not all of the traps were regular "step here and it hurts you"-traps. The more sneaky ones were cooler. Like the mirror room in the first level.
  3. Rather 7 interesting, well written companions than 20 one-dimensional companions. I like it when companions are very different from the playable character. Having unique appearance (Deekin, Morte) or set of skills that the player can not obtain on his own character.
  4. Why do people care so much about how many hours the game takes to complete? Games shouldn't be valued based on how big they are, especially not a classical RPG which probably offer great replayability.
  5. It was good in NwN1 expansions.. smooth talking gave you good rewards and sometimes you could make new friends instead of smashing heads.
  6. Sounds awesome. The build up part gets me all jiggly wiggely. Makes me think of the epic Mask of Betrayer plot. Also I hope the scope of the story isn't too big. Don't let the player see the whole damn world and fight all the evil things in it, let there be something unseen. I hope the story is on a personal scale rather than global scale if that makes senes.
  7. Yeah I think mystery items are cool. They are awesome in The Binding of Isaac
  8. I love the part of the NwN-games where you go into the mind flayer (Illithid) colonies where the humans are only slaves, ruled by mystic telepathic creepy guys. So I hope they can pull something like that off again!
  9. Step 1: Polymorph party-member to flying type creature, like a bird. Step 2: Position party-member over enemy. Step 3: Polymorph party-member into something heavy, like an elephant. Hilarity ensues.
  10. One of the few things Diablo III got right. Some areas have extreme level of detail because of the locked isometric perspective. I know Diablo III doesn't technically have locked camera, since you can zoom a little bit in and out, but it hardly changes the perspective at all.
  11. I hate how Dragon Age deals with magic. I partially agree with your point, magic should come at some cost, but not the "ultimate morally wrong choice which will make you evil and rebellious" like it was in Dragon Age. NwN2: Mask of the Betrayer dealt with it in a great way (not regular magic, but the mask magic) - there was an awesome sense of balance between the power and the weakness of the mask. Being too greedy was bad in the long term. I hope we get something similar for the magic system in PE.
  12. Keep both options available, like it was in BG. Most people would probably prefer to play with pre-determined companions the first playthrough, and make their own party for later playthroughs.
  13. The main problem with thievery (or sneakyness in general) in most RPGs can be summed up like this: "Why would I sneak past these guys and steal from them when I can just murder them and get all their rewards + XP". The solution to this is to implement specific rewards for thievery, and make sure that killing stuff is not the primary way to get XP.
