  1. Everything sounds great to me! The plot hook was a bit vague, but I wouldn't expect any different. I, too, love the dwarf concept art.
  2. GameMaker Pro is only $99.99 Seriously though, a bit curious myself - for Linux and Mac, presumably they need an OpenGL rendering backend anyway. I bet Unity3D would love to have a high(ish) profile game like this to add to their resume. I suppose the final verdict depends on what other licensing issues they have to work around, and what existing codebase they can carry over from past or current projects.
  3. I dunno, this all seems creepily familiar to real life problems. I'd rather be solving fantasy problems, not Sims problems.
  4. *Praises the gods that this was not a politcal thread* Forget tea parties - how about full-on raves?
  5. "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun..." For a "mature setting" that they have said they are going for, I'd rather prefer there to be some ambiguity between the Good and Evil paths. The character (and player by extension) should be motivated by emotional self-interest, which would not necessarily be some vague moral goals. Perhaps a character could be out to enact chaos and pain as their MO - but just as likely she has a more personal goal and just cares little for those puny villagers that got in her way. I would prefer not to have D&D alignment in the game - let actions speak for themselves, and let NPCs react according to those actions, not because of a +3 Lawful Neutral score.
  6. A mixture of both, because why not? Personally, I am more apt to buy a larger set of content for more money ("expansion pack" in the traditional sense) than cosmetic DLC. But if smallish DLC packs net the developers more revenue to make Eternity 2.0, than I say go for it.
  7. 1 and 2-3-4 are somewhat orhogonal I think. On #1 - trust the developers to do their job. Ideas can be had from frans, sure - but just because a particular poll says "75% want Grenades!", doesn't mean it should be automatically considered. As for what appeal group they are going for, I though it was rather obvious from the information they've already given.
  8. Steam is fine, GOG is better simply because I support "what they stand for". As long as they do not go the Ubisoft route (or similarly intrusive, idiotic and outright insulting DRM methods), I'll be content.
  9. I agree with the OP - I get why some genres/players prefer the over sized, in-your-face cosmetics, but I tend to find it's gotten a bit rediculous of late. There should be exceptions of course - this would make the rare, exceptional and exceptionally stylized artifact more... exceptional.
  10. It may be interesting to have a form of very powerful and rare magic ("High/Forbidden/Dark") that is balanced by hefty consequence. Such as mandatory sacrifice (of a companion, magic items), permanent (or semi-permanent) penalty, or having certain factions/companions react hostily. Something like this would likely need to be written into the story, not just as a general mechanic. Another idea would be adding a risk vs. reward system to magic, such as empowering spells with a chance of backfire. In general I like my magic flavored with mystery, unpredicability, and a sense of meddling with dangerous powers not meant for the weak of will.
