  1. Ok, that's what I call a goddamn liar, anyone who played FNV knows this is bull****, and any obsidian fan should be pissed about this. I'm sorry but she's a bad person, a liar and manipulator, I have no sympathy for her at all and I don't care about the alleged threats, I don't belive a word from her without hard evidence, period.
  2. That's awesome, and I like your avatar.
  3. This, this, a thousand times this. Thought I support gender equality, I would never identify myself a feminist because the hardcore feminists have simply ruined the meaning of that word. It instantly polarizes and demonizes, removes gender equality over gender superiority and ruins all possible intelligent discussion. I guess gender egalitarian would be a lebal that I would prefer to use.
  4. Well, at least the mods here are not mass banning anyone that tries to discuss this, good folks.
  5. My best friend in swtor was a woman, even when we stopped playing years ago we still talk a lot and are looking forward to the next MMO we can play together.
  6. Well, I can't say I've heard of those, I only started playing after the 90's, console games at first and then switched to PC
  7. They're not saying they're taking over MMORPGs, they're looking at the industry as a whole and including mobile/tablet gaming. So we can agree that core and hardcore gamers are overwhelmingly male. And judging by the picture I posted, the most enthusastic about video games.
  8. Many people don't care about the sex, they care about a dev getting publicity, reviews and favors because of a relationship, others care more about the fact that they were silenced and can't discuss it. And the people that make harmless comments about this are also insulted and attacked like TB. I've heard of people in the game industry and journalism that are afraid of speaking about this, or are not allowed to talk about this or they'll lose their jobs. At least one of them told me about this directly, others I've heard indirectly, MundeMatt, the guy that was false DMCAd said he received many messages from devs saying that, I and had a discussion with somone who worked in Divinity: Original Sin who told me the same.
  9. A guy broke up with his girlfriend and posted the "why" to a website with screencaps of texts and tweets. Girlfriend is a game developer who (according to the posted screenies) admitted to a relationship with a game journalist who wrote positively about her game while still in a relationship with guy. Internet explodes. At least that's what I've gotten out of it. Like I said before, if an insider said EA was paying kotaku to get good reviews and positives articles, the internet would explode (and rightfuly so) But since it's a woman that had sex with a journalist (instead of bribing him with money) apparently a lot of people are dismissing the issue right away, people can't even discuss this in many websites without getting their comments deleted and their accounts shadowbanned. Even here I've seen many users suggesting the thread be deleted wich is embarrasing. Internet didn't explode when GameSpot fired one of their journalist because he gave too low score for Kane&Lynch, because Eidos (games publisher) demanded it, by threatening removing their ads from GameSpot's webpage. Eidos was then one of GameSpot's biggest advertisers. And that isn't singular case where big game sites have exposed to get payments for good reviews by big publishers. Now days they only do it more subtlety by getting journalist to play their demo versions in controlled events and then hype their games. That really sucks I have not heard of that, and I don't know if the internet exploded or not about it, but even if that issue was ignored, it doesn't mean is right to ignore this issue. Add to that the fact that people are getting silenced left and right, you may say that the sites have the right to massively delete comments and silence people, that doesn't make them any less ****, and also false DMCAing a Youtube video to silence someone is not right, no matter where you look at it from. I'd also like to add that people got really upset when they discovered that videos in Machinima, I think, were secretly promoting the Xbox One, Totalbiscuit made a video about it.
  10. As long as the game is good I don't care the gender of the developer, to suggest that it HAS be 50/50 is sexists and has nothing to do with equality. In other thread I commented I study two careers, one is 10% men and the other is 10% women. I'ts not an issue as long as people are FREE to choose. But if we're going to celebrate women in the games industry, the first ones that come to my mind are the women doing voice acting, like Jennifer Hale or Felicia Day, i really liked her as Veronica in Fallout New Vegas!
  11. A guy broke up with his girlfriend and posted the "why" to a website with screencaps of texts and tweets. 12. If Frank Gibeau or Peter Moore or any higher up in EA was accused (let's say by an insider) of paying Kotaku and other sites in order to get good reviews, people would be up in arms about it , or at least would interested to know what really happened. I think it's kinda sexist that since it was a woman having sex with a journalist writing articles on her instead of a money bribe, people are dismissing the whole issue because what? sex is taboo? women can do no wrong? I don't know. Not to mention the massive censorship campaign going on in many sites where people want to discuss this, sure it's legal censorship but it doesn't make it right, and in fact some censorship might even be Ilegal, like the guy who made a video this topic and got it flagged with a false DMCA claim in order to shut him up, even Totalbiscuit wrote to the guy in support, having been DMCAd himself in the past.
  13. It's always rare for me to run into a woman in an online game, but it happens from time to time. From what I've seen men are still the overwhelming majority. It's a non-issue if you ask me, I'm currently studying two careers, in one of them women are outnumbered 10 to 1 and in the other men are actually outnumbered 10 to 1, and it's not because of any kind of social injustice it's because people choose diferent things, as long as everyone is able to choose their careers (or in the case of gaming, their Hobby) freely, I don't see a problem I remember watching the Star Citizen event the other day, and even if you don't like the fact that they were 99% white guys, you gotta respect that those are the guys that are making the game happen with their money, if it was only up to the supposed horde of adult women gamers that the article reports I don't think any of the kickstarter games would have made it (Including Project Eternity). So the Teenage boys from the 80's and 90's are now adults with high income that vote with their wallets and are making things like Star Citizen happen, things like Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity, if you're a game developer, specially if you're a developer that got their game through kickstarter, you have to acknowledge and respect your customers.
  14. Haha, I remember Bioware games having pretty long loading times since Neverwinter Nights, but that never bothered me much, if the quality of the game is still good, that hasn't been the case in their past few games, so we'll see what happens with their newest title.
  15. I'm a big fan of games that have a good campaign and also good multiplayer, Sadly that's almost non existant in RPGs, I really like how Neverwinter Nights had a good campaign (several actually) and also offered a really deep multiplayer experience with the Toolset and the NWServer. At that point it looked like RPGs were evolving, but it seems they have taken steps backwards since, maybe they got more lazy, but most modern RPGs I've played either lack modding tools or multiplayer, or both. I have backed PE and WL2 (also plan to back Torment) but it looks like Obsidian is trying to relive the glory of the of Infinity Engine days, I hope that at some point they want to move forward to something like the Aurora Engine days, and beyond.
  16. I feel Obsidian talents are not beign put to good use by working on a project like this, unless they plan to add some sort of single player campaign to AW.
  17. I keeping my expectations low for DA:I, after DA2 I know not to expect the same level of quality Pre-EA Bioware had, I guess we'll see what happens.
  18. As for enviromental hazard, I use Force Shroud (resiliance) to protect against the huge damage and knockback that you get when you deposit the Gree Orb in the Pylon located in the PVP area of Ilum, the quest is called [PVP] Charging the Pylon
  19. I was under the impression, from what some have said on the topic, that you are completely blowing things out of proportion on this one. Mind giving a link to that dev chat? What you're not gonna take my word on it? Fine, Here, you tell me if I am exagerating, but when these guys go on a huge tangent on how they are going to appeal to minorities and call themselves "priviliged white males" I lost interest in that Dev Chat that was supposed to talk about game design.
  20. This is going to be a very interesting game with a lot of RTS and RPG elements, maybe the King/Queen will be a playable character (they should have said ruler instead of king so people wouldnt have freak out). Of course any information they failed to deliver should be clarified, but you don't have to apologize for beign a "privilged white male" just because you didn't address something in your Pitch video, which by the way is meant to convey the overall idea of the game, not every single detail, so I don't really see them at fault. I don't know about you but whenever I heard to word privilged I thought of someone that's very rich, it looks like in 2013 beign a man means you're automatically privilged, lucky us.
  21. If people were confused what devs intended then I fail to see what is wrong that they corrected peoples false assumptions of the game? I heard that if devs want make today game with attractive female lead who has heterosexual relationship with man, for example kiss him then publisher reject to publish your game, because that is just weird. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/20/publishers-rejected-remember-me-because-of-female-lead/ So one could make assumption from that attractive female characters are only okay if they are ogling objects or subjects of men sexual advances, which one could see rising some resistance when about half of the gamers are female. It's so sad when people quote me but it seems they didn't even read what I said, giving information about your game is not wrong, in almost in any RPG since pokemon I expect I can create a male or female character, and in strategy games the commander is usually genderless, they said their game would be like XCOM and in xcom and other strategy game you play as a commander of undefined gender. I was always cool with Bioware or Obsidian beign inclusive in their games but when a developer starts to pretty much apologize for beign a male, that's when we enter creepyland. Also if you think that about half of the gamers are female, you're in a fantasy world. I mean sure, if you count people that play facebook games or play from their smarphones, sure. If you talk about core gamers, I would say they are about 10% give or take.
  22. You talk about "making women object for lonely males to salive over" and come and talk to me about straw man? The only reason you stopped replying is because you don't have any arguments, I've asked several times where is the harm, how does sex appeal in video games translates into suffering or misery in the real world and of course you decided to stop replying beacuse there is no harm, you're just whining because you don't like the art style.
  23. From what I heard in their dev chat you would have been able to play as a male (king) or female (queen) all along, like in any other RPG, but they clarified because some people were freaking out. What is kind of disturbing is when developers start to overly apologize for beign "privileged white men, with glasses". Also, it's funny how they go on like 20 minutes on how you can have an homosexual couple (which is fine, nothing wrong with some suprise buttsex) But if you want developers make attractive female characters for heterosexual men (which are 90% of them), well that's a ****ing crime now.
  24. I was watching a Massive Chalice dev chat and they were almost apologizing because their explanation of the game was too "male-centric" according to some. How was it male-centric? when they explained their game they said that you play as an inmortal king, and it seems that was enough to cause pushback, later they were all like "You can also be a Queen, you can also be a queen, men and women are equal in our game, we swear!" I know people like to feel included, but that was taking it over the top.
