As mentioned it isn't bug in mechanics but in explanation and presentation. In my opinion they should fix many of enchantment, talent and ability explanations so that they more accurately represent actual game mechanics or they should change game mechanics to correlate with explanations. Their current problem with armors' DR come from fact that they use multipliers (usually if not always 1.5/1/0.5) to change base DR for specific damage types, but their DR bonus enchantments give integer bonus to base DR that is then changed by damage type multiplier. Which can cause unexpected results for those players that aren't familiar with math behind the damage type DRs. In my opinion they should go with system where integer bonus from enchantments is added to DR after base DR is changed by multiplier, because that would wield results that player excepts by reading enchantments' description.

You should be able to apply new one any time you aren't in combat, even if there is already oil on blade previously new one use replaces it.

You could argue that interfering bonus on hatchets is because of fact that they aren't easiest weapons to deflect that causes one lose some of their offensive ability when they try prevent enemy from hitting them. Daggers are usually designed to be stabbing and of hand protective weapons that help blocking hits from enemy. But there are knives (even from European Middle ages) that are mainly aimed to be slashing weapons and there are even daggers that are designed in that way. Rapiers and daggers as fast weapons don't make actually any sense as longer weapons like spears are much faster to use because of their longer reach and smaller hand movement needed to use them. And it also is bit odd that rapiers are made to be in "light" weapon section even though in real life they are one heaviest one hand swords after cavalry sabers. And for some reason all rapiers in game resemble more fencing foils or small words than actual rapiers. And estocs are for some reason made to look more like great swords than one-and-half hand long swords that they were. But anyway bonuses/benefits that weapons in PoE aren't aimed to be that simulative, but more balanced gameplay thing that somewhat tries to present weapon type as it is in real life.

"shipping delays beyond our control such as the closure of ports due to weather or labor disputes." I just noticed this in their Risks and Challenges section, it seems that they have learned something something about shipping and how people will react when unforeseen things happen. This board game is made by http://www.zeroradiusgames.com/ and they will get the lion share of the profit. Obsidian will get some bits of it, if it sells are high, so in that sense this "project" is doing very well, Obsidian is not in it for profit, just to spread the earlier mentioned "brand". I will post the link to this profit sharing, as soon as i find it again. (or one of you Obsidianer's could poke in and clarify your intentions) Yeah spinoff products like this are just meant to make brand stronger. Which is probably why they decided to use Kickstarter as it gives spinoff product much greater coverage than trying to market game via more traditional channels. As now I have seen several articles about it in computer/console gaming magazines that don't usually cover board games.

Only collector's edition boxes and other rewards that people getting those have been posted. Those who backed for standard edition box have still not received any of their physical rewards as far as I know. If I remember correctly they said that they will send them same time with game discs, which should in my estimate have come out or come out soon from manufacturing, as it about month from patch 1.04, which was version that they decided to put on the discs. So I would guess that people in USA will start to receive their packets in first weeks of June and other people end of June or beginning of July.

I think you don't know what finished version means. According to Obsidian: http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/7/entry-184-patch-notes-106-in-progress/ "The product was deemed a finished product because Obsidian considered it a finished product. It is really as simple as that." I disagree. Simple as that. So you don't finish things when you decide that they good enough or you don't have anymore time or money to put in them. So for example in your standards people can't finish school if their results weren't perfect. Or maybe better your employer can argue that you haven't finished your work before you have given them perfect results and they don't need to pay you for hours that you have done for them. Finished product is product that product's maker thinks is good enough to be claimed to be finished, sometimes makers are forced to claim products that they aren't satisfied with as finished because of financial, material or time constraints. Simple as that. You can claim otherwise but that is just arguing against reality, which usually don't lead anything productive. Finished don't mean perfect or that there is no room to improve or that there isn't flaws in product. And it don't even mean that developer of product can return on later date to fix flaws in the product or even that developer can continue to improve the product outright after they release finished version of product and release new improved finished version in later date. In digital products customers that bought first version of the product often have benefit to get improved versions of product at least until certain point with out needing to pay extra for those improvements, if product is commercial.

Because I read threads and reviews that initially expressed that the game was relatively bug free at launch. Then you probably didn't read threads in PoE beta section of this forum. Because if you did then I don't know how you could had such notion that game is relatively bug free, except in context on comparing it to other Obsidian tittles in past, which most reviews did by claiming that game is not full of game breaking issues as Obsidian's past tittles. But even though PoE was not bug free when it was released its release version was playable from start to finish on most machines out there, which is arguably same as relatively bug free especially on todays standards.

What if I say that in my opinion it does, does that mean that your experiences were invalid then? Opinions that aren't backed by facts are just meaningless things that don't have any validity in them. In my opinion. Yeah in my opinion this is the fact. IMO. So much my opinion that it is just the opinion.

Lol. Thank you. Title edited. :D Should we start new poll where we ask if first version of topic should be called as early access? I am not charging you for this. You can, however, pay me if you so desire..... You wasted my time and time is money, as they say, so you charged me for this... But everybody is free to buy products that they feel are good enough them and if you buy products that weren't good enough then next time remember do more research before you decide to buy a product. How? I did not put a price tag on this post for you to send me any money for any product offered. There is no product here. I do not have any of your money and I certainly cannot use the time you spent here to make myself a profit. It is a poll on a forum that's all... Are your really comparing this forum poll to a £30 game promoted as a finished product? OK..... It is a product and it was buggy and waste of time, even though I didn't need to pay extra over time I used to read your post, it still was buggy product like one you complained PoE to be, and so if you ask one product be called early access until it is bug free then I think you should demand that other products should follow that standard including your forum polls (especially those if you are the one that demand to get bug free products). No, do you not understand the defenition of a "product" that is "sold"? Here, let me help: Product: (1) an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale. OK my thread is not that kind of product. I am certainly not marketing, refining or selling this thread. Especially not selling. That would be illegal in fact. Product: (2) a thing or person that is the result of an action or process. OK arguably this could fall into that category of "Product" but that is not something which is sold by its definition. Hmm.... Lets check somewhere else: "In marketing, a product is anything that can be offered to a market that might satisfy a want or need.[1] In retailing, products are called merchandise. In manufacturing, products are bought as raw materials and sold as finished goods. Commodities are usually raw materials such as metals and agricultural products, but a commodity can also be anything widely available in the open market. In project management, products are the formal definition of the project deliverables that make up or contribute to delivering the objectives of the project. In insurance, the policies are considered products offered for sale by the insurance company that created the contract." OK, well I am not satisfying a market, I am not offering merchandise, I am not providing goods or commodities, selling insurance and I do not have anything to do with project management. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_(business) Lets see, anything else? Product: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/definition/product A product is the item offered for sale. A product can be a service or an item. It can be physical or in virtual or cyber form. "Definition: A product is the item offered for sale. A product can be a service or an item. It can be physical or in virtual or cyber form. Every product is made at a cost and each is sold at a price. The price that can be charged depends on the market, the quality, the marketing and the segment that is targeted. Each product has a useful life after which it needs replacement, and a life cycle after which it has to be re-invented. In FMCG parlance, a brand can be revamped, re-launched or extended to make it more relevant to the segment and times, often keeping the product almost the same. "# Errmm, nope, my forum thread is still not a product. If you do want to market it, however, and make a profit from it for me, you are more than welcome to. But I wont pay you for doing any O&A on my product, you will have to pay me for the product and help me to fix it so I can then make even more profit, none of which you will ever see. Anything is product that is produced by somebody, so forum posts, threads etc. are products. Did you know that your forum post are protected by copyrights because they are products in eyes of law, which is why forums EULA's must say that forum owner has right to do anything to your product that they want in their forums.

Games were released full of bugs 20/30 years ago as they are released full of bugs in these days too, only difference is that these days you get patches on those bugs usually, where 20 years ago that was luxury that only few PC games offered. There are for example there are games for NES that can't be completed because of bugs that they have and there is nothing people can do to fix that. Of course these days we see probably more behavior where game development cycle is cut shorter than it should to cut costs, because ability to release patches after release, but it is not something that didn't happen also in past. And it should be obvious if you don't like games with bugs you should not buy games before you are sure that they don't have them anymore.

Other decks are also very powerful especially if you use alternative leaders for them. For example Northern Realms have much better spy's than Nilfgaardian deck and their alternative leader version that gives you free horn for siege units is excellent as is their ability to get additional card every time you win a round. I won all the Gwent challenges in Novigrad with it including that high stake tournament.

When you do that first time in Novigrad after plundering Velen your cash reserve will probably rise about 3000-6000 crowns. But Most my money has come from selling alchemy and crafting ingredients, as I had in some cases over hundred pieces of rare ingredients that you need 1-10 in all the crafting you do and merchants will give you 10-20 crowns for piece. And I have started to find epic weapons that are just worse than my current one and blacksmiths will give for them 300-700 per piece. Before is reached Novigrad most cash I had was 3000 crowns.

I am not sure if there is some kind option that makes items stay, but at least currently every time I load game the game items in ground disappear, those in corpses and those that I have dropped. Although it don't matter for me as I have more money than I need (bit over 20k crowns and crafting materials to do any item in my crafting list, in such degree that I could produce higher level items and sell them on profit if I would want to do so). I am currently on level 16 and I would guess that this things get even worse when I reach level 30.

I have like game so far, but keyboard and mouse controls and Geralt's running movement are probably worse than what DA:I offered, which was horrific. And even though design of the maps is good and they are interesting to explore, game some times feels even more hiking simulator than Skyrim and other Elder scrolls games. Also I find it quite disappointing that leveling up is much more important for your ability deal damage than finding/crafting better weapons. One thing that I find quite enjoyable is to ride through low level enemies and decapitate 3-6 enemies with one swing of the sword and continue your journey forward without stopping.

Mate, grab a biology book. We can call it many things and none of them correct. mutation /mjuːˈteɪʃ(ə)n/ "the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form which may be transmitted to subsequent generations, caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or chromosomes." Its how evolution works, trying out new strategies, sometimes resulting in stable new combinations, sometimes not. Humans are the result of a long series of mutations. Currently we don't know for sure if homosexuality is mutation, as we don't have certain proof that it is something that is heritable or if it is even directly genetic. And even if it is genetic it don't necessary mean that it is mutation as we know about that genetics behind sexuality are very complex and we know that complex genetic patterns may show themselves in very varying results even without mutations. Meaning that they may result varying effects in family generations without need of change in structure of the genes themselves.

ETA on Expansions?
Elerond replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Its one xpack in two parts. I'm expecting 6 to 10 hours per part. Source? Because if that would be true, that'd be really goddamn sad. I would absolutely expect 20-40 hours per expansion pack. 40 sounds a bit much, yes, but I'm referencing it as thresholds. Minimum 20, maximum 40. Anything less than 20 would be unacceptable for a real expansion pack, and anything above 40 would just be ridiculously unreasonable to expect. Those are just freaking ridiculous expectations. It took them 2.5 years to make 40-60 hour game and now you expect them to make 20-40 hours expansions in few months. Prepare to be disappointed I guess. There is nothing ridiculous about those expectations. Obsidian had to make more than just make some new areas and quests. They had to make the classes, develop the rule system, and establish the method in which they create content. Adding new monsters, quests, and items shouldn't take long at all. The only aspect that would be challenging is making the new areas quickly, but as long as Obsidian really stretches the use of the new areas a 20-40 hr long expansion is completely possible. Yeah, the thing to remember is that the devs not only had to create a new setting and rules, they had to create a new game engine. So, if one is thinking about a time frame for an expansion, it probably shouldn't take nearly as long, one assumes, to just come up with some new areas, perhaps some higher level spells and abilities, plus whatever storyline is required for the expansion. The setting, rules, and game engine are now in place, and probably would require little, if any, adjusting. They didn't create new engine, as they used Unity, which is general purpose game engine. They needed to do some specified code by themselves to solve some problems that are unique to PoE, but that is far from making new game engine and they probably need to solve some additional problems in the expansions. And it should be noted that people that do those maps, writing, rules etc. are different people than those that did the coding, meaning that removing coding from equation, don't mean that people responsible of those things can do more work in shorter period of time. But on bright side people that did maps, rules writing, etc. weren't necessary familiar with style that PoE uses and even if they have done similar products in past it was over decade ago and with different tools, meaning that that there was period of time where they needed to get familiar with how things are done in PoE, what things can be done and what things don't just work in PoE's style. And now their team knows what they can do, how tools that they use work, and what things they should avoid, which means that they can produce higher quality content in shorter time, but that is just because of the fact that they now know what they are doing instead of trying figure it out. They also have now quite lot ready assets that they can use instead of needing to make them from scratch. I would also point out that if they don't expand their team there will be clear limit in certain areas how much new content they are able to produce as they currently have only one or two people working on those things and those limits probably will limit scope of the expansions quite much, as they did with PoE itself. -
This makes no sense. First Lyrium is a magical substance that gives you access to the spirit world. It is hardly HNO3 or whatever. Secondly in DA:O it was just a skill Alistair could teach anybody, like one might teach any combat skill. So I am not sure what the basis of that assumption was. You did not get any scene of Alistair teaching you intense meditation or anything. Also in DA:I, player's actions can lead to point where Templar's stop using Lyrium at all, but that don't seem to take away their powers, although them may become weaker as they aren't anymore amplified by Lyrium. It is somewhat similar as with mage, who can use their powers without Lyrium, but using Lyrium gives them access much more power.

Currently in official Star Wars cannon midi-chlorians have quite little explanation. In Star Wars Legends there is quite lot more things about them, but those things aren't anymore part of Star Wars cannon. But in Legends Jedi scientist believed that they were source of people's ability to use force, but they weren't actually sure that was the case and but they did know that every living being in university had midi-chlorians in them and those with force sensitivity had more of them, but it could also be that they were just drawn towards people with force sensitivity for some reason. Because there was cases where force sensitive people had low midi-chlorian counts and cases where midi-chlorian count didn't predict how much potential person had in force use. Current explanation by Star Wars cannon in Disney era universe "Without the midi-chlorians, life could not exist, and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, you'll hear them speaking to you." ―Qui-Gon Jinn, to Anakin Skywalker "Midi-chlorians were microscopic lifeforms that lived within the cells of all living beings. The Force spoke through the midi-chlorians, allowing certain beings to use the Force if they were sensitive enough to its powers. Midi-chlorian counts, used to determine a being's potential in the Force, could be tested by examining a subject's blood. The highest known midi-chlorian count—over 20,000—belonged to Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One who was believed to have been conceived by the midi-chlorians" "According to legend, midi-chlorians originated on a planet in the heart of the galaxy, from which life was also said to have emerged. The midi-chlorians played a role in eternal consciousness; as all living beings generated the Living Force, it fed into the Cosmic Force and communicated through the midi-chlorians, allowing a being who had the knowledge to manifest themselves after death."

First person dungeon crawls aren't my thing, so I will not back this and probably will not play it ever.

Game supports modding, although complex mods need paid version of Unity (because Unity 4.x's paid and free versions don't always have compatible files, if they upgrade to Unity 5 this hindrance would vanish) and their file structure isn't easiest to understand. They don't offer mod tools, because they don't have tools that they could offer, as they didn't make any. Full (meaning that backgrounds don't consist on tiles) pre-rendered backgrounds make making new maps difficult as making maps demands that person making maps actually can do 3d environments from start to finish and understanding how maps work in PoE as there is some specialties that are needed to make them work.
