The reason the Witcher games are "limited roleplay wise" isn't because they lack writers capable of writing roleplay experiences, it's because they work with a pre-defined character that has an already established personality in the 7 books and short stories that predate the game. Even though CDPR **** on the books with Witcher 3, they have always kept Geralt faithful to his personality and the choices you get are what would seem Geralt could do if he were presented with those situations in the books. But as CD Project has not ever done any RPG without pre-defined character it is hard to judge how well they could handle RPG with much more open character, but it is certain that they don't have lots of experience on doing such games. Pre-defined characters are different to write than characters that are defined by player especially how you write world's reactions towards PC. Like for example you could compare them to script (movie/tv-series/play) writing and prosaic book writing, both are writing, but being excellent in one don't necessary mean that you are excellent in other.
-
Now that is something i can get behind. CDPR and Chris Avellone? Yes please! Moving from Southern California to Poland while taking a paycut so he can work on dumbed down console focused games? Sounds like tragedy in the making. No thanks. But Poland has cheaper and better beer (in their bars).
-
Yeah, CDPR seems to do well enough right now when it comes to stories/writing. A place like Bethesda could really do with someone like Chris A, though. They probably could benefit from somebody that has experience of writing roleplay experiences, currently they make good games, that sadly are quite limited on roleplay wise.

That would be quite good bet if it was not the facts that according to him he can't speak about his future yet, and that inXile is currently making two games and in my knowledge they don't have capacity to start third game or even ability to expand themselves so that they could make that third game. Also MCA has seem to been able to work for inXile's projects quite well from his current position. But of course it is always hard to guess what happens in other people's lives and what motivates them to do what they do.

There are three different endings I think depending on Geralt's romantic pursuits.
-
But at near end there is at least couple different quest or no quest at all depending on your choices

PoE. Chris wanted to take a different diraction with the game. Though these are only rumors, so they might be completely wrong. I would say that if that was the case, it would had been Josh who would had left, as in end of the day MCA is one of the people who pays (now possibly paid) Josh's salary. Meaning that if there was disagreement about direction where PoE should go then that disagreement ultimately was between owners of Obsidian (from which MCA is/was one). EDIT: But on the topic, it is bit sad to see MCA to leave Obsidian as he is excellent in what he does and he is become somewhat the public was of Obsidian.

EA didn't force any of of its divisions to use Frostbite, all the divisions that use that engine decided to use it because it is actually very good engine when you want to make larger open areas. Bioware's previous engines that they used in Dragon Age weren't capable to do open areas that Bioware wanted to do in DA:I, which meant that they had to switch engine to do game they wanted. Frostbite become maybe more popular inside EA than it should have, but that was mainly because of success of DICE and how well they were able to sell their engine. But in my understanding Frostbite 3 is quite developer friendly engine that is very capable when you want to make open world areas that decently populated. I would point out that from EA's big franchises, EA Sports, Sims, Sim City, Titanfall, Crysis and Dead Space don't use Frostbite, which means that from their current lineup most games don't use it. And that according to Bioware they decided move to Frostbite before DA2 was even out, because they wanted to make bigger game.

I'd say that's a bad ending, not a good one. From Ciri's three endings that is my opinion probably best for Ciri and world in long run, one is maybe better for Geralt on personal level and one is just sad although I have seen some interpretations for it that make it bit better, but I don't agree with those interpretations personally.

...W40K is also supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, despite Games Workshop's attempts lately at pretending it's totally not. "lately" has been going on for more than 5 years now... heck, probable since before the 4th edition. HA! Good Fun! 3rd edition of WH40K and 6th of WHFB started erasure of tongue-in-cheek things from GW's settings. Especially Black Library's books started to change from hero adventures to more gritty stuff. WH40K's latest Codexs seem to have bit more tongue-in-cheek mentality than what previous generation had, although I haven't read all of them. WHFB in other hand seems to have gone full dark with it newest additions. But GW has always tried to follow trends with its stuff.

PC DVD version not for Linux?
Elerond replied to what_else!'s question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This is a bit tricky actually: the DVD actually gives access to the Linux version, but you can install it only from… Windows! Maybe it can be done through WINE, but I won’t be the one to try it as I’m entitled to the DRM-free DVD. In my understanding there is no physical installation media for linux version, but instead you need to register game in steam and install it to linux by using steam's linux client. You shouldn't need Windows to do any part of that. But of course it is bit bummer if you bought DVD to lower your bandwidth usage. -
Are physical goods... good?

Can't say about things in collector edition box as I haven't open it, but t-shirt, play cards and mouse pad were decent quality. -
Kickstarter Achievement
Elerond replied to AelonKiru's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
There are couple alternative method to achieve that achievement, you can hack it to yourself, google will help if you decide to go this route, or you can buy KS version of game for me or other backers that have several keys for the game. -
But explanation behind miracles that Jesus could perform was much more mundane than that, as he was God's incarnation as God's son that God sent to teach and die for human kind. Meaning that any action that he did weren't actually miracle because he is omnipotent and omniscient creator of the everything. Only people who don't really have faith would call his actions as miracles, for people of faith they are just lessons by their God. That's Christians point of view, I am a Muslim, i don't believe Jesus is Son of God and God, i don't believe Jesus was crucified. Giving explanation on something suposed to be miracle lessen the miracle. Jesus being Son of God and God lessen the suprise that is the miracle. What is the suprise if Jesus doing miracles if Jesus is Son of God and God? Other prophets also doing miracles and they are not Son of God and God. So what makes Jesus special in doing miracles if he is Son of God and God? My statement/argument above is not religious debate, it just want to point things out. There are zero prophets that do miracles there is only God that does acts that God has told prophets beforehand that they will do, which is why they are only prophets, not incarnations of God. Only God in their forms The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are capable to do acts that people without faith call miracles.

You are right, you should only play Fallout from bird eye view in world that is portrayed by using trimetric projection.

They didn't actually showed any gameplay. It was just video made with UE4. Most that you can take from video is what kind thematic feel and what kind look they aim and how UE4 has very pretty easy to use effects.

Yeah, but some parts sound really strange. Like this "first releasing for PS4 and stuff and later in a 'advanced version' for PS3, etc." - makes really no sense to me. Also, if there really comes a spin-off and it is being developed by Behaviour Interactive.... As far as I can see, they have zero experience with deep RPGs of any kind and mainly released license games from movie titles. I find this very hard to believe. They did Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. But 2016 release would mean that they probably would had to had started development of that spinoff before that was released, or they have quite tight schedule, which would not be surprise when we speak about how much time Bethesda gives third party developers.

PoE - Sales figures STEAM
Elerond replied to BillyCorgan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ironic that Xcom apparently did badly enough on Consoles that Firaxis isn't even launching Xcom 2 there much? Xcom sold only bit over million copies on consoles and about three million copies on PC. -
I have found several 43 and 45 level schematics, but only way to reach those levels are to just slaughter respawning monsters to end of the time. Although they have plan to offer all those additional mission free dlcs in future, maybe those schematics are meant to for them, because currently game don't have any enemies that could stand assault from thousands points of damage that Geralt would do with those weapons in those levels.

I don't see the point of licensing a PNP game if you aren't going to use the ruleset like doing a D&D game and not using the rules. Forgotten Realms being different as its not just a campaign setting but a shared narrative universe as well. They didn't licensed PNP game but instead they create new version of Cyperpunk that sets in different period of time than PNP games. One thing that worries me most with this game is their talks how it will be multiplayer game. Anyway I wouldn't wait traditional PNP style game, but more modern cinematic MMO style action rpg.
