  1. A worldview that imposes a "correct" outcome on a statistic which aggregates people's private choices, is totalitarian and evil. Any liberal-minded person would be content with securing equal rights and fairness on the level of the individual, and accept any statistical distribution which the population as a whole causes to arise via their individual choices. People's world views always impose correct outcome in how we should look statistics even when you say that they don't matter and current system is fine as it is. What ever you choose you are similarly totalitarian and evil. It is just how world works people look current system in place and decide what they like, what they dislike and what they just don't care and then they do more or less to convince other people to change system more to their liking. In some cases it may be very totalitarian if they actually have power to force changes in the system and some causes it is more democratic as they try to convince other people to change system with them. Like for example in your world view you dictate that people that disagree you with how system is currently working and who would like to change it are evil, which isn't any more liberal mind set (IMO) than claiming that people who don't want to change system are evil.
  2. That is much more complicated issue than that. Systematic issues are hard to see and hard to identify and even harder to pint point cause behind them, statistics show only results of systems in the place. They don't tell us what in the system causes them and what things factor in them. As said statistics tell us results of the system and those results are that women earn less than men and they are most likely have shorter, more broken and less stellar careers than men, even when background factor are selected to be as similar as humanly possible. So there is wage cap between women and men, that is fact because out statistics show that it is so. But why that cap exist is much more complex question, which don't have any definite answers, which is why it is so easy to dismiss or claim that it don't exists. And then there is question is it a problem and answer to that question depends on personal views of the one who you ask. If person who you ask wants society where there is no wage cap between genders/races/etc. and they want statistics to show that career paths are statistically similar between genders/races/etc. then you probably get answer that there is a problem in the current system (and they probably have their own ideas where that problem might lay) , but if you ask person who thinks that current status quo is fine, then you probably get answer that there is no problem in the system (and they probably have their own ideas that explain why system produces such statistics as it does and why it's fine). So issue is not actually about wage cap or something like that but how statistical results of current system match with world view of person looking them.
  3. She has fewer ability points than characters should have and her armor isn't as good as plate armor (it has 4 points lower DR, meaning that it is only as good as breast plate that give -40% to speed) and it does not have special enchantments that you can find from armors that make most builds just objectively better. Her racial ability is ok, but her racial negatives hurt hear ability be rogue much more than her racial ability benefits her, which mean if you do the math that she is objectively weaker than normal rogue build in same role would be. Of course such don't really matter in this game that much, but that also don't change the fact that she is mechanically worse than normal rogues.
  4. Don't you know that Volo's opinions aren't just facts they are absolute truths about things, you just can't dispute them, because there is nothing to dispute
  5. what i say i heard from Swen himself during a preview of the game he made with angry joe im not sure about the "all characters start together part" but he does say that "each has a personal story and it's up to the player controlling him to role play the outcome, and in single one player makes the choices for all" Isn't the party a lot bigger in D:OS2? I thought I read that the player creates four characters but can also recruit some, resulting in a maximum party size of 8 (4 player created and 4 that you pick up along the way). Can't find the source anymore though... "Flying Solo Since we've launched the campaign, one of the biggest questions that we've been getting is "will the single-player experience will be as in-depth and interesting as multiplayer?". The answer is - of course We know it can be hard to get four friends together to regularly play through something as long and in-depth as a Divinity game. So, while we've been spending a lot of time talking about the multiplayer experience, we haven’t forgotten that it's important that the single player game is just as engaging and fun. The secret we discovered with Divinity: Original Sin 1 is that allowing for cooperative multiplayer in the manner we do it enriches the single player experience tremendously. Every time we try to wrap our heads around the different possibilities of a quest designed for multiplayer, we're able to go and feed all of that extra content back into the world, which means it's all right there for you when you walk up with a single player party. It also adds a huge amount of roleplaying to the world. Thanks to the multiplayer effort, each of your companions can interact with the world as if they were your main character with dialog options that correspond with their origin story. So if you have an elf in your party, it might be more interesting to interact with an elven ancestor tree using your elf rather than your dwarven warrior. But if you interact with your dwarven warrior, you will get different reactions. While this is all very cool, we did make sure that your main character still remains special. If the advanced relationship system gets in, then you’ll be able to roleplay the relationship options from the viewpoint of your main character, but not from the viewpoint of your companions. That ensures your relationship decisions feel weighty and that you can’t manipulate your companions. The same goes for persuasion. Persuasion dialogs pop up whenever members of the party have different opinions. We obviously have a large range of persuasion options available in multiplayer and each party member will have its say. In single player however these options will not appear. Instead, the companions will state what they they think is the right course of action depending on their own beliefs and perhaps also the relationship with the main character. With regards to competitive questing, it’s not so that your companions will go off on their own. There’s a number of PVP things that will be limited to multiplayer and that won’t pop up in single player. However, the fact that we have competitive questing ensures that there’s a broad spectrum of options available to your party in single player, more so than would ordinarily be the case." https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin-2/posts/1360696 They give more details in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLVZSUBEXE4 It also seems that they current prototype don't have single player mode, at least such that they have planned for release version.
  6. We'd be the only conservative country in the world, and therefore the most economically successful and freest country in the world. And really, don't Conservatives deserve their own homeland? Btw, efforts to secede haven't led to war anywhere in the Western world, and one might remember that the feds backed off when confronted with an armed population in that dispute with the Nevada rancher. Saudi Arabia is p. conservative, yet I would not call them free or economically successful... Conservatism as a political and social philosophy promotes retaining traditional social institutions in the context of culture and civilization. Some conservatives seek to preserve things as they are, emphasizing stability and continuity, while others, called reactionaries, oppose modernism and seek a return to "the way things were". Which conservatives we speak (in context of USA), those who want current state of affairs to change or those who want to return something(s) from the past when things were better?
  7. There are side effects I agree when you get 0 phrase invocations, but you don't get them until level 13 and that is when wizards, priests and druids get to use their 3 level spell in every encounter, which gives them ability to cast over 10 spells per encounter. So if you limit chanter ability to cast 0 phrase invocations as many times as they have generated phrases in that fight they usually still could not get even close to capacity that those classes have and chants aren't that powerful that they would turn scales to chanter in late game encounters at least not usually. Of course this is just calculations in my head and reality may actually show different results, but I have my doubts on that happening.
  8. In my opinion they could scale chanters to same level with other casters by lessening how many phrases invocation needs by one every time chanter gets access to higher level invocations. So at start chanter need 3 phrases to cast 1 level invocation, when they get access to level 2 invocations level one invocations cost 2 phrases and level 2 invocations 3 phrases, and when they get access to level 3 invocations then level one invocations cost 1 phrase, level 2 invocations 2 phrases and level 3 invocations 3 phrases, when chanter gets level 4 invocations then level 1 invocations cost 0 phrases, level 2 1 phrase, level 3 2 phrases and level 4 3 phrases. And so on and so forth. And to limit spamming of 0 cost invocations, by limiting number of times chanter can cast them to once per phrase they have generated. I don't see any need to tamper with how chants work as they are in my opinion fine as they are now.
  9. Armor don't really take nearly any strength to wear, because it mass is divided evenly around you and it is supported to parts of body that don't need to move. But anyway there is really no need to make your back line wear heavy armors as there is so much abilities and mechanics that allow you to control flow of the battle.
  10. http://news.yahoo.com/finlands-no-good-disappointed-migrants-turn-back-152042061.html Should we be sorry that our country is too boring after escaping war and persecution or something like that?
  11. Owning and managing company can be very tiring work, especially if your interests lay elsewhere, so if you are financially in such situation that you can leave such things behind you and pursue things hat interest you, it can be very tempting thing to just quit things that you don't necessary like that much and just pursue your interests. So there wasn't necessary any drama, only that Obsidian seems to be in good place financially now, which opened quilt free opportunity to leave.
  12. If we look European countries that are under strain because of existing populace we will find that it is most cases because age structure in those countries is starting to become too top heavy, so flood of under 35 year old refugees will actually lessen that strain during next couple decades, but of course on short-term it can make things worse especially if the refugee flow continues to be uncontrolled.
  13. Scaled stuff is not actually that challenging for high level party as bonus that scaling gives enemies is not that great. Meaning that encounters which are actually designed (meaning adra dragon, bounties, etc.) for high level parties are still more challenging. If you want to scale the game just drop 10 (or 15) points from all your defenses and accuracy and you have about replicated what that scaling does.
  14. WM don't become high level content even with scaling, it just make monsters there bit more challenging, but it is still quite easy for high level characters. Main plot is always been easy for high level characters, WM didn't really change that any way. Some side content in WM and other places in world is aimed to high level characters, which can offer one some challenge addition to Cragholdt's Bluf, but there isn't really encounters that are challenging for party of six well build max level characters. Yep, I know it. But main thing and my problem/question is that, in what order and with which modifictions(Hard,PoTD,exp nerf 25/50% IE mod) I should visit and complete respective locations. I heard that completing WM+additional subquest(Old Nua,bounties) give us too much exp with reference to finishing main plot in satisfying way, game is too easy. And players have to choose between leaving WM/new companions for the end of gamethrogh or use WM content, but later on fighting in main story is boring and not challenging even with PoTD. That's why my question come from . If you do side content in vanilla campaign you can level up so much that plot advancing quests become cake walk, this is because plot quest are designed so that people that skip most of side content still can finish the game, which means that they just can't offer that much challenge for max level parties..

  16. Scaling option is/was meant in first place for those people that had already finished the game and want to use their character(s) which they used to finish the game to play the expansion also, but not have it to be too easy as expansion was designed to be mid game content.
  17. In my understanding no. Game checks your level when you first time go in Stalwart and if you are level 9+ then it gives you option to rise levels of the enemies in White March areas and you can't reverse that choice you made and if you weren't high enough levels when you enter Stalwart first time you will never see the question.
  18. Dude are you being serious about that Finnish dislike of small talk...that doesn't sound very nice. South Africans are very comfortable and enjoy making small talk....I would also battle to live in Finland. I make small talk all the time....but I dont see it as irrelevant as it helps to build a rapport with someone..normally a stranger. And that can be useful Here example how people in my home city will react when you try to small talk with us. Although you can get much more out if you offer couple rounds in bar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4fSiWSphe4
  19. Finland will create much worse impression in time period from December to February when temperature here is averagely between -10 - -30 degree of Celsius and you see sun only couple hours in day. Culture shock that it causes for people from ME is enormous even when one is prepared to it not to mention people that aren't. Do people have to work if its -30 ?And what public transport, is it operational in this cold ? -30 don't usually cause any big problems, schools and such start to close when it goes below -40. Public transport will operate if there aren't technical problems like Italian made trains that have problems to work in such temperatures. That sounds hectic to me....you must realize I dont think I have ever experienced anything lower than -10. And this is only from Skiing in Austria...so how cold is your average ski resort? Anyway the thought of -30 terrifies me a little. I am just imagining having to go to work in that cold...going to gym...meeting people at bars, it must be tough at times to motivate yourself I would say that during days temperature is somewhere between -5 - -15 degrees of Celsius on average day in Lapland's resorts and during nights it is probably somewhere -10 - -20 degrees of Celsius. There is usually one to five those -20 - -30 days during winter and couple that are colder. Past few years winters have been warmer than that, but this year seem to indicate that winter will again be colder. -30 makes it uncomfortable to be outside long periods of time, especially if there is wind, as protecting your face can be tricky, and I would not recommend heavy exercise as breathing such cold air isn't good for your lungs when you take deep breaths. But in warm clothing it isn't problem to be outside even several hours at the time (although I would recommend not try such in first time when you are in such temperature, as you don't know how your body reacts towards such coldness and it can be surprisingly tiring).
  20. Doesn't sound like them being much of refugees if an incoming cold winter and an economic downturn would make them think twice. //edit: They were Iraqis, lol I'm fine if less refugees come to Europe because they think life is hard in the EU...life is harder in the EU than people assume So Elerond and Meshugger if you guys are feeling guilty about Finland creating such a bad impression of the EU....don't feel guilty. People also need to see the negative of the EU that isn't even that severe Finland will create much worse impression in time period from December to February when temperature here is averagely between -10 - -30 degree of Celsius and you see sun only couple hours in day. 23. Comparable how? Or are you counting your native population birth rate as a collective or your genuine native population. Because last time I looked, the only reason most European countries have a positive birth:death ratio, is because the immigrants have several children and make the overall stats look better. And where did you get 850 million, EU has about 500. I get my numbers from the World Bank and UN websites, as opposed to the time honored tradition of pulling the numbers out of your ass. The UN sets a cautious estimate of the population of EU at 738 million. Source. While other projections are almost a billion when Russia, Turkey and other countries some times affiliated with Europe are counted in, so I went with a nice middle ground. Do you also need help with finding sources on population growth? Your source claims that's the population number for the continent of Europe, not the Union. EU's population is about 500 million.
