Best Western Strategiests are non-educated posers.

Tell that to Ukraine, Georgia, Estonia, and any country that has them as neighbors... Granted, USA isn't exactly innocent either, but that's my point: the alleged guilt of one party =/= the innocence of the one opposed to them. Besides, give them both credit, in a way. Sure we're tyrants but at least we're both smart enough to recognize there's limits and not blow the world up fighting each other. May not sound like much but who's to say that wouldn't be the outcome in other hands? At least we got the respect for one another right even if we do both have habits of picking on countries that are clearly outmatched.- 55 replies

I think the human bonus is practically superior to death godlike as it gives both damage and accuracy when the human is below 50% endurance. This is both a greater payoff and triggers in a more dire situation. IE if you have a tough battle, the human can potentially turn it around with more damage and accuracy (equaling more crits) whereas the Death Godlike will not get the enemy low enough to even benefit from their racial, and will only benefit from it in the already easily surmountable battles, and even so gains no accuracy. And yeah Fire Godlike is bugged. Not counting that since wtf if I did, that'd just be unfair.

Culture Bonus
Longknife replied to Rumplestiltskin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It gets factored in during character creation, IE, all character stats are actually shown starting off with one extra point of Resolve that they don't actually have, because if you switch the culture to anything other than Aedyr, you lose that Resolve point and gain something else. Stats default at 10. Anything you see at 11 before you actually add in your stats? It got there because of a racial or cultural bonus. -

Normal mode is too normal

I expected this when the kickstarter started. If you are doing a throwback game, people are going to hate the "vintage" design and mechanics, but these mechanics are the whole reason most of the people backed the game. To be fair, it does take getting used to because I think most people would assume that since it's not turn-based, there's quite a bit of leniency with pause button usage, but that simply isn't the case. -
***O hi, I will be spoiling things immediately so please look away if you don't want that*** So do you think Thaos had something personal against animancy, or were they merely a scapegoat? I ask this because during the entirety of the game, every animancer you encounter is a bumbling idiot incapable of tying their own shoes, investing heavily in what appears to be a pseudoscience. The logical conclusion would be that they have the power to somehow conflict with Thaos and his goals, but based on ingame evidence it seems more as though Thaos thought "yeah these idiots'll work" while simply on the hunt to find a scapegoat so that no one goes investigating the Engwithian ruins or the like while the Legacy breaks out. The fact that not once do you meet a singular credible animancer seems to suggest the latter, no? And yet there's times it seems as though he has something against animancy specifically, or perhaps soul research as a whole.

Normal mode is too normal

I for one am appauled Obsidian gave me exactly what they said, therefore robbing me of my ability to complain about normal difficulty being too easy or hard. They should **** it up on purpose so I can complain about it. -
Hard mode is too easy.
Longknife replied to Mazisky's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
What's the gap like between Normal and Hard? I beat normal difficulty, at times with no difficulty, others, with quite a bit. Can't really decide if I should transition to hard yet. -
That is really interesting, so the best way to get a max "to hit"/"to crit" build is to pick one of the 30 accuracy classes with a hearth Orlan..., are there one handed ranged weapons, in the game? If so that could give another "bonus" to accuracy outside of buffs/talents. Can we talk about Hearth Orlans for a second? Because those guys alongside Moon Godlike seem to have gotten the best racial abilities hands down. Pistols?

No I'm just asking for evidence of this. The most that's been suggested thusfar is "a book about him is found within Twin Elms." Aside from that, no commentary is offered in regards to his absence. Is it unreasonable to ask for evidence? We have definitive proof the others are Engwithian constructs. We know next to nothing about Eothas except that a guy made a very convincing proclaimation to be a God (he glowed) and made a very out-of-character assault on the Dyrwood for some reason. Therefore, confirmation that Eothas was a false God too does not exist.

For optimization, sure. But I'm using a Might/Con based low-Int barbarian for my off tank and it's working just fine. And there is deviance allowed of course. For example a Fighter can manage with modest Con, and you could provide them with Dex if your hope was to make your tank do a better job of interrupting enemy attacks. Perception seems flexible in that you could put it on anything that you wanna use to interrupt attacks.

I believe it's a specific amount per class as Rangers and Rogues crit more, and the class stats will show Accuracy as a stat with a listing as "Very High/Low" etc. Raising it further than the base amounts you get from levels requires you either do so via a buff, an enchantment or a talent. So if you are not happy with your Fighter's crit rate he's managing from level ups alone, then you can spend the talent point to increase his accuracy further.

But: 1) You cannot disprove the existence of a God. This is fact. Try and disprove God in real life right now. You cannot. It's impossible for the Engwithians to do so aswell, meaning they only achieved overwhelming logical evidence (or lack thereof) that no God exists. It would not be impossible or even hard for Eothas to remain off the radar for them. 2) We do not know that Magran destroyed or killed Eothas, merely that the mortal vessel allegedly used by Eothas was killed. Eothas could still very much be in existence. 3) What's the line about "knew the internal rules and was dismantled/destroyed for it?" There's no evidence for this. If this were the case you'd think there'd be evidence for it, and that the gods would've redirected someone towards dismantling him, not towards bombing some guy claiming to be him. Listen I get this is a bit frustrating in the sense my theory theoretically cannot be disproven....but that's exactly what a God is. And that's what I think the purpose of Eothas is: he's the failsafe for players who want to believe in a God. Unless there is evidence that is conclusively (keyword there, since even a book could be of questionable origin, though a book should still be looked over) highlighting Eothas to be an Engwithian construct of Engwithian origin that is no longer functional, then the possibility exists that Eothas is a real God. The point is Eothas is a loose end. We never discover what became of him. We don't know his origin. The motivation for Eothas to march on Dyrwood (to dismantle the false Gods) and the motivation for Woedica and Magran to oppose him (to remain the strongest and to remain Gods of the world, not to mention defend themselves) is definitely there and plausible. With this game you have to look at it like a piece of literature. You have to ask yourselves "why did they do things this way" and "what did Obsidian intend for us to conclude from this?" Eothas being left as a loose end? That's either shoddy writing or Eothas functioning as a failsafe for us to speculate off of and question if the gods really don't exist. It's ALSO possible he was a construct like the rest but has since been dismantled or deactivated or the like, but for that we need definitive proof. When that proof is lacking, the assumption falls to him being a failsafe.
-
Do you have evidence for this? Cause if so, I missed it. Aside of him being mentioned together with Hylea, being mentioned in the revolt vs Woedicka, and being killed by Magran because he broke their internal rule.... not much i guess. We're talking about a theology made up thousands of years ago. Nothing you've said suggests he's Engwithian. What I was suggesting is that perhaps Eothas predates Engwithian belief systems OR somehow sprung up afterwards and has managed to survive where other belief systems (as mentioned by Thaos, before the time of Engwithian gods) have not. That he has interacted with Engwithian gods or been presumed to be a part of the same circle of Gods does not neccesarily imply that he is one of them. We have absolute confirmation that the other gods are all constructs, for Eothas we have nothing.

Your english skills are flawless dude. And yeah again don't get me wrong and I should apologize, but I was focusing on things oby got wrong and focused on stomping those out. A sanction does indeed hurt both parties, I merely meant I would believe Germany to be the party that can better sustain such hits since it has the larger economy, the higher standards and more options in trade. Russia was comparatively hit with sanctions by quite a lot of people whereas Germany only cut ties with Russia specifically and only in very specific ways. Still, Russia does of course supply the EU area with a large amount of natural gas, so it's not as though Russian-EU relations are meaningless or negligible. As for Putin's approval ratings, personally I don't know what to say on that matter because on a personal level I have encountered Russians losing faith in Putin by a considerable margin, but I'm also not denying the numbers; his approval rating was always high. All I can say on that matter is that the Russians I know that live here in Germany all comment that the Russian media does not show them everything. Had a friend visit home during the Ukraine Crisis and she was saying it's kind of amazing the difference between what gets shown in the news there and what gets shown here. That's not to say "Russian media is corrupt and western media isn't!!" I'm cynical and I bet both are corrupt. If I'm to trust the judgement of any russian contacts I have here though, they all suggest that russian media only tends to show one side of the story or skip over some facts and details. Wish I could see what they saw, but sadly that's not the case. I also must say that Russian interest in politics in general seems very low, as I often struggle to find Russians with in-depth political opinions. The general thought always seems to be that the government corrupt, the elections are rigged and it doesn't matter whether they pay attention or not, so most don't. Despite this, they're all very fond of Putin for a various range of reasons, such as a belief he keeps the right groups in check, that he's a powerful leader who accomplishes a lot for Russia, or as stupid as finding him physically attractive. @Zoraptor: In what way? That seems like a very bold statement to make.- 55 replies
