  1. Yes, Justin Sweet is a good artist as I have said many times. But he is a terrible portrait artist IMO. I meant the portraits. Sorry if this was not clear.
  2. It's probably the least vulgar portrait in the game. Some of the others are absolutely hideous looking: Awful, awful artwork... Loads better than the hideous crap from Justin Sweet that is plastered all over this thread. You just don't like dark themes, that's the only difference. IWD was a very dark game, baldurs gate is a very bright game. Mike Sass did the BG portraits and as you can see they are all 'very' bright, while Justin Sweet's are all very dark. It all depends on the type of game Project Eternity is going to be, if it's a very dark game i'm not going to want bright character portraits that's for sure. But I have a feeling that's it's not going to have that same 'dark' feel that IWD had, which is probably why they only talked about contacting Vance and Justin and never did actually do it. It has nothing to do with that. I have no problem with dark themes, I have a problem with Justin Sweet's style. His art is unpolished and very bland. And yes, pictures with nothing other than every shade of brown and black are very boring. This picture isn't "bright" either, as you put it, but it looks damn good:

  4. What is the point of having encounters in the game that are impossible to win?
  5. Justin can do anything in the game as far as I care. Concept art, cutscene images, whatever. He is talented (there are artists that have more talent than him though) and he has a distinct style which fits very good in some cases, but he is NOT a good portrait artist - he is a terrible portrait artist imo. I hated his portraits in IWD so much that I had to replace them all... and the statement that Obsidian is *thinking* of hiring Justin to do the portraits for PE makes me cringe. This coming from someone with a Baldur's Gate II portrait as their avatar... Well, I liked Imoen as you can see. But yes, the portrait is also very good, much better than anything Justin Sweet could ever whip up.
  6. Wanna bet that the art and assets for all of the Infinity Engine games has *mysteriously* disappeared into thin air? It's the best excuse for not updating the graphics of the enhanced edition you know.... Or maybe I am wrong and the underpants gnomes really did steal all of the assets. ^^

  8. Sure, let everyone in the game be killable. There might be a reason that you want to get rid of a certain NPC. And if you break the game - too bad, start over. hehe But why somebody would like to kill every single NPC in a game is beyond me. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.
  9. I see you have never been in the Kickstarter chat before then.... Maybe you are the one who hasn't pledged. You can keep on responding if you like. then I can write another post on how terrible Justin Sweet's portraits are in my opinion.
  10. Oh boy. I hated those IWD portraits with passion. At least I now have a reason to lower my pledge. haters gonna hate... and trolls gonna troll Yup. I HATE Justin Sweet's portraits and I am gonna say that too. It is my opinion - and I am not gonna pay extra cash for being forced to remove every portrait when the game is released. Nice flame bait btw.

  12. But do you have any plans of recycling TBH's story (which sounded extremely cool and promising btw)? Atari would not be amused.
  13. Like I said, if you have pledged enough to get a basic license + the $8 membership fee, then you are in.
  14. You have to pledge $8 on top of the tier you selected. Read the first post of this thread for more info. Actually, I don't have a tier. I donated along with another group, so no specific tier for me. My increase was $25. If that doesn't get me in, but $8 will, then consider me to have gone back, reduced my increase to $17 and then added $8 to it. Well, if you donated directly to Obsidian's PayPal, then it should be ok... or did you donate though the RPG codex or something? This is an honor system atm... until the Kickstarter ends at least. My donation is going through Sorcerer's Place (which will be using PayPal). Even though I've already made my donation to the pool, I don't think they will contribute until the last day or something, so the money itself isn't to Obsidian yet, but it will get there! Ok. Think you donated enough to get one of the 30 licenses? Considering the total of donators over there hasn't reached thirty people yet, I'm fairly certain. Plus, I think I've beaten out at least six of them, not that it's a competition. Ok. So you're getting as license for $25. I would recommend that you donate another $8 (like the rest of us) on top of that here: http://eternity.obsidian.net/. fyi, Obsidian will be able to see who pledged the $8 and who didn't. Ok, so I'll set you up with a title.

  17. You will receive your revised title tommorow. You have to pledge $8 on top of the tier you selected. Read the first post of this thread for more info. Tommorow.
  18. Yup. Done. You will receive your new title tommorow. Done. You will receive your new title sometime today, the corrected title tommorow. Interesting and unpronouncable title... ^^

  20. A second huge city would be awesome! Like a great underground dwarven city, or a beautiful and artisitc elven city. The first city should be a huge Human city like Baldur's Gate or Amn in my opinion.
