  1. I agree with what you are saying Nepenthe. The characters seemed to have a lot more life to them this time, moving around the ship and conversing with other companions. But the conversations the player could have with them seemed to lessen with each game which is an absolute shame, as characterization is something Bioware does quite well. I can not say I felt quite so strongly about the fate of game characters before in regards to Mordin's death or Ash's almost death scene, which was made all the more worse as she was my characters faithful love interest at the time. It is a testament to their writers, but it was the previous games depth of conversations that made me care for them, now they generally say three lines and they are done, it just feels lacking in comparison.
  2. I do not see any cartoons making exceptionally good rpg's full of depth. Basically because by their nature cartoons and comics are fairly shallow. I could not choose a cartoon, as the last time I watched any was when I was a kid in the 80's, and I have no real desire to see Danger Mouse revisited.
  3. I do not think being manly has anything to do with it, it is a video game you are playing, not a game of calcio fiorentino. Edit - The Dragon Age games's overall difficulty was always a bit off, some times things were exceptionally easy and then suddenly you hit a wall. Dragon Age 2 was in many ways easier that Dragon Age: Origins, just that they threw countless waves at the player with served to only increase the tedium. That said I found Mass Effect 2/3's Insanity difficulty to be quite well paced and enjoyable.
  4. It is not really investing, you do not get a return on your money. It is more like a prolonged pre-purchase where the special editions can cost 10k. What happens if a project falls through? Lets hope we never find out. That said I am sure their is some sort of precedence somewhere already if someone had the time to look for it.
  5. Ummm, NO. I think you'll find that if you bother to do a little research, you'll discover that it was Rise of the Triad that first exhibited robotic scorpions! Jesus, are you like 12 or something? Any real gamer would know that. You must make so many friends. Thanks for saving me some trouble Gorth.
  6. Different people are influenced by different things, some by a developer name, some by previous works, some by critics, some by friends. The smart ones make up their own opinion based solely of what they see of the game at hand. Neverwinter was a solid game, it had faults in multiplayer and singleplayer, but at the time their was not much quite like it. I loved BG just like everyone else at the time, but and enhanced edition can not solely rely on the name and content of the original to sell, the improvements/additions/fixes have to be worth a new purchase.
  7. From what I understand Wasteland did giant robotic scorpions first, so it is everything else that was inspired by it. Wasteland seems to be getting it right when it comes to designing an rpg, they will not be compromised by a publisher that knows nothing about the genre (Bioware with DA/ME) or have to cater to a gaming system and player demographic which lowers the quality of their work (Bethesda with consoles). I am very optimistic about this project and the openness of the developers, not to mention the developers history's in being involved in many of the most pivotal past rpg's. The, quite frankly, amazing concept art already released is very inspiring, the art direction seems to be going in exactly the right direction.
  8. Not surprising at all that backers are not keen on the idea. Exclusive content, day one DLC's and other such withheld or cut content is the major reason people are fed up with `Big Ass Games
  9. I agree with essentially all of that Gorth though I would say the first inking of the absurdity was at Thessia with the Prothean VI and Kai Leng.
  10. Just finished watching it, does not change my opinion of the game at all, but it does baffle me as to why those two writers on the panel were not the lead writers. Also the guy who was asking the second from last question was a definite PR plant, he did not even ask a question, all he did was say how he loved the ending. The only people I can imagine saying that for real are those that did not play the other two games, or are quite mad.
  11. In that case you will probably never like any version of Dragon Age Humanoid, everything about the game screams fantasy epic, from the history to the races to the current events. It is a world obviously crafted for one reason, to tell epic stories.
  12. Their is no good reason why a good number of characters do what they do. I can write a list, but most here know what happens. Legion bothered me the most, he had to upload himself to save the Geth and destroy himself, okay.. odd but I can go with that. But why no backup program? Literally when we met him, he was talking about Geth being able to make backups of programs, even so, we get no Geth substitute? So disappointed in that, he was my favourite dancing robot stalker.
  13. You may be right about that being their intention, problem is Dragon age 2 included dramatically less quests compared to DA:O. So in reality what Dragon Age 2 actually did was give less/repeating areas and substantially less quests, their is not much justification for that. I have not black listed Bioware but I am no loyal blind customer, they lost that a long while ago. I am prepared to give them a chance, but this customer is wise enough to wait a month after release before deciding to buy or not.
  14. Dragon Age 2 was a step back in development, these `features
  15. Considering you do not have a string of successful games behind you or a truly famous brand proposal I think 300k is a little optimistic. I know you want to make the ultimate game that conforms to your vision, but perhaps you should have started small. Without a name to draw in a crowd, you need content and eye candy, which is not present. It looks promising, but I thought I would explain why I am not parting with my money rather than ignoring.
  16. I already own two copies of the original, it would have to be a marked improvement over the original for me to buy another. Currently I have not seen anything that makes me want to part with my money, but I am willing to wait and see as I do love those games.
  17. So from watching the video the changes we have are `Stop Reusing Levels, Decisions That Matter, Equipment For Followers.
  18. Alpha Protocol again, I recently finished Mass Effect 3 and like everyone else I was utterly disapointed. At least Alpha Protocol has real consiquences and serious replay value. I have not started yet, not until tomorrow, I am actually quite looking forward to it.
  19. That is a far stretch from my and many many others (Check its reviews) view, including the writter Josh Wheldon himself.
  20. If it was not Biowares intention to kill off their franchise they seemingly succeeded by accident. I see a lot of talk about the players choices and consequences in this topic. Mass Effect was always about choice and actions determining what happens. A simple example of how Bioware ruined even that core mechanic of their own franchise is that in ME 3 they removed thee middle ground dialogue reply. Basically we can be good or bad and in the end, what we choose often did not affect what happens later. Rachni queen and destroying the collector base are fine examples, if one wants to go into details we would be here all day. Bioware shot themselves in the foot and no doubt the company is sweating a bit after the Dragon age fiasco last year. I am sure a lot of people will not be buying upon day of release next time. Edit: - Anyone else get a whole Alien: Resurrection vibe off the whole fiasco?
