  1. Obsidian Entertainment @Tristan No, this not a world that is on the verge of the industrial revolution or steampunk. Best news in the above. I was kind of worried about that.
  2. Swords were really rare because of the expense involved. I think most people fought with spears and axes. Hammers and picks would be very effective against plate armor as well though.
  3. Yeah, if you read Robert E Howards stories Conan always wore armor and carried sensible weapons when available. A lot of people seem to have the comic book, movie or Frazetta images of him in mind though when they think he ran around mostly naked.
  4. I wouldn't mind if it was just humans. I'd prefer it kept simple though. Beyond elves and dwarves maybe lizardmen or minotaur.
  5. The character concept looks great. I never really expected that they would use some outrageous stylized art or over sized weapons and ridiculous armor but it is good to see that confirmed. I hope the rest of the game is as 'toned down' as this.
  6. God I hate Wayne Reynolds art. It was the beginning of the end for good art in D&D.
  7. I voted yes to both. Perhaps it could even provide an interesting mechanic where after you defeat an enemy rather than finishing them off you could take them captive and sell them on the slave markets if you chose to play such a character. Of course if you took too many at once you would have to worry about them overpowering you or slitting your throat in the night. On the other hand one of the possible companions could be a slave you freed from someone else.
  8. I don't want to play a dating sim either. If there are romances I hope they either require you initiating them in an obvious manner so that I can just ignore them or that companions are killable so I can eliminate them.
  9. I vote yes. Combat is the most important aspect of RPGs to me and I will most likely ignore the majority of the non-combat skills unless they also help in combat in some manner. Armor or weapon crafting for example. If we get xp for avoiding fights I really hope there is a way to turn that function off.
  10. I like the idea of mounts better than I do some kind of transit system which I find cheesy in fantasy games. Obviously not as fast though. I think they might clutter things up and you would also need to possibly implement a separate mounted combat system. I think it could be a nice touch though.
  11. I vote yes for a megadungeon. Dungeoneering is my favorite aspect of RPG's. I do not think clearing it out should be mandatory but make entering it a part of the story and then people can decide if they wish to delve deeper on their own.
  12. Signing in. I am mentioned on the first page on the thread as Terry, Warmaster of the Obsidian Order. Can the name on the list on the first page be changed to Thulean, Warmaster of the Obsidian Order please.
  13. Isometric, turn-based, party-based RPG. Develop your own IP so you don't have to license anyone else. I would like to see a setting that is not done to death. 80's style cyberpunk, science fiction, old west, but really anything will work done in the old-school real RPG style. Of course if you want an established IP there are some fairly popular ones in the public domain. HP Lovecrafts Cthulhu stuff, Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars stuff(and with the John Carter moving coming out this will be even more well known) and most of Robert E Howard's Conan and Kull stuff come immediately to mind. But whatever you do for the love of the gods please, please, please avoid any sort of anime based art direction.
