  1. Eh, I'm partial to the moderators on this board. I think Fionavar and Phosphor, among others, do a pretty danged good job within the constraints that they have been given. Maybe I'm biased. I've watched these mods, particularly Fionavar, for several years over many forums and believe they are amongst the best. Fio is tolerant, yet firm, and works within the guidelines given to maintain a forum where everyone feels safe and welcome. Phosphor is consistent and fair, in my opinion, an excellent mod. Bah, I'm probably biased and spoiled. But I think dumping a bit more responsibility in the hands of such talented and experienced mods might be the solution Obsidian is looking for right now. Just a thought.
  2. Sheesh. Real helpful. Come in with an oh-so-clever moniker like, say "manitsbuggy"... then for three glorious weeks bitch and moan in every one of your 22 brilliant bitch-and-moan posts, then give the president of Obsidian a condescending lecture about how he should run his company, his forums, and the proper way to deal with his publisher. Yep, yep, that'll give Feargie the incentive to pour more money and manpower into ye olde boards! This board is Obsidian's living room. Now I don't know what kind of hovel some of you live in, but when people are invited into my living room I don't let them flop on my sofa, empty my frig, then proceed to insult me, call me names, tell me how to run my household, live my life and raise my children. That, boys and girls, is rude (in case your mama's didn't tell you... and clearly, some of them didn't). Personally I think giving mods increased banning ability is the best idea yet.
  3. Hmm. Well, I hope the forums don't close... but there really is an irony to having someone call the Prez of Obsidian a "crybaby" one minute only to get huffily defensive when someone else calls the fans "bitchy." Personally, I'd say calling Obsidian folks names is being pretty bitchy. But hey, what do I know? :D Anyway I doubt they are considering such a move just because of the usual cadre of "the game sux, the developer sux" imbeciles that always buzz around newly-released games. If it's something they need to do, then I will sadly go away and continue to wish them well.
  4. I will be very sad in the forums close. I can't in good conscience blame Obsidian. They are a very new, very small company just starting out... and forums are a major time (and money) investment. I very much enjoyed these forums, though, more than most development forums. If Obsidian must close them down, then all I can do is thank them for all the enjoyment I've had while they were open and hope that the closure will give them the extra time/money they need. Obsidian has the talent and potential to be a gaming powerhouse someday. Hopefully they'll reopen the forums when they are able. Again, Obsidian, thank you for what you have given us.
  5. The quest is always immediately transferred to the inactive file as soon as I get Vogga to agree to sell Telos fuel... only I don't think it's supposed happen that way. My log always tells me that I should let Lt Grenn know immediately... except, of course, Grenn doesn't give me the chance to tell him. Worse, he complains bitterly at the end game about being without fuel! Makes me crazy.
  6. Yep, an unsolvable bug. Or so it certainly seems.
  7. I enjoyed the game. I enjoyed it a lot. I even enjoyed the ending. Yes, I wish there weren't so many bugs... I'm particularly peeved by the Bao Dur bug, where you can't ask him to make you anything and as soon as he becomes a Jedi your only dialogue options with him are "Yes, General?" and "Never mind." Boy, I was really ticked when I made him a Jedi before he finished my lightsaber... and when I got all the materials, discovered I no longer had the option to have him make up my lightsaber. Bummer. Still, I loved the creative gameplay, the story-telling brilliance shown by KoTOR II. In every way except finish-polish it was superior to KoTOR I, in my opinion. So there.
  8. Oh, excellent. Thanks for posting the link to Mike Gallo's comments on the topic. I'm feeling quite optimistic now!
  9. Bah. I don't even want to admit how many times I returned to Nar Shaadda and ran to those doors to see if I'd triggered them by some action on a far-flung planet. Now I feel silly. *blushes*
  10. I played as a LSF, and gave Atton all the appropriate dialogue at the beginning of the game, but I never got to meet Carth after the Ravager. As I went to leave the Ravager, an option popped up that said if I left I'd be transported back to Telos, and did I want to leave? I said yes, I did want to leave. But I never went back to Telos. There was a bunch of cutscenes, most of which never completed but just kind of flipped past the screen, then I was suddenly on Malachor V. Bummer. Double bummer.
  11. Wow. I never got any of those dialogues. My character, also a LSF, never even got to meet Carth Onasi because a bug just took her directly from the Ravenger through a bunch of blinking, half-done cutscenes, into Malachor V. I was so disappointed. Also, from the time they became Jedi, none of my characters ever had a single, solitary new thing to say to me. Which, as it turns out, was most of the game. I was really disappointed in that as well. Also, I never got enough influence over GoTo or HK47 to have them say anything beyond their initial dialogue. (Is there a menu someplace where you can see how much influence you have, or do you simply have to count the number of light-beams to hazard a guess?) Since I'll never play a DS'er, I guess I'll never hear 'em, either. *sigh* Still, I can't help but wonder if the lack of new dialogues for the crew no matter what planet we'd just visited or what happened there could be some kind of bug.
  12. I don't disagree with those five weaknesses. Thing is, I was expecting so very little due to all the complaining on the forum that I guess I was shocked that it gave me as much information as it did! I do indeed have questions that I wish had been wrapped up more neatly. Still, I can't complain. (I will complain later, of course, in the "what could have been done better" part of the KoTOR II forum... but for now, I'm still enjoying the experience for its good parts!)
  13. Er... I've never even been to the Storyline forum. Now I KNOW some mod with a wicked sense of humor is out to get me...
  14. I didn't. :"> Seriously, I have no clue why it ended up here. I only posted it in the KoTOR II General Discussion forum. I figured a mod must have moved it, until I popped in and saw that all the replies were different. I know I've had a glass of wine or two this evening... but... :"> :"> :">
  15. Bao Dur. His voice is the sexiest, bar none!
  16. My LSF didn't kill Atris. She... redeemed her. I do not remember how, but when my LSF left, Atris was alive and planning to help save the Republic. Judging by what happened at the endgame, she apparently didn't have a whole lot of positive aid to contribute... :D
  17. Yay! I truly love KoTOR II... dare I say, I love the innovative concepts and the daring gameplay styles even better than KoTOR I in many cases... but my great little PC was not immune to several annoying bugs that kept me from seeing a lot of cutscene movies, stunned NPC's into a "no new dialogue" loop that I KNOW was not the way they were originally written and... worst of all!... kept me from meeting Carth after my trip to the Ravager!! I miss Carth. I so wanted to see him again. *sob* My only question now (besides an anxious "what will it fix?") is how soon is "soon?"
  18. I liked Bao-Dur a LOT. And his sexy voice was one reason for that. I'm pretty sure the "Yes, General?" ... "Nevermind" stuff that haunted 3/4 of the game is a bug, because within moments of going to the final scenes Bao-Dur suddenly came alive, gave me the opportunity to ask how he was feeling, then instantly started repairing every droid on the ship. It was as if his entire script had been in "Groundhog Day", then the damn suddenly burst and he was free. Too damned late, however. Still, he was one of my favorite NPC's... although yeah, the lack of proper robes for him WAS a real annoyance.
  19. The lack of developer comment and response has been... disappointing. To say the least.
  20. After my escape from the Ravanger, a note said I would be taken back to Citadel Station (where I understood I would be able to chat with Carth Onasi). Unfortunately, even after several tries, the game skipped Telos, and the cutscenes simply took me directly to Malachor V. Bummer. Also, I had trouble clearing quests from the log. I couldn't clear the Serroco quest even though every one of the dudes was dead (and the refugee leader congratulated me for getting rid of them). More annoying was that I couldn't clear the Telos new fuel source quest. After I got the new source, my log told me to run tell Lt. Grenn... but of course, Grenn didn't have a dialogue tree that allowed me to do that. Ack!
  21. Whoa, thanks so very much. I'll try that as soon as I can make another trip back to Nar Shaddaa! I've already turned nearly everyone else into Jedi... and as soon as I did, they said basically, "Thanks a bunch, now get lost!" In other words, neither Atton, Disciple or Bao Dur have had a single thing to say to me since. *sigh* Since the droids won't talk to me either, I'm getting lonesome. Must be all those light beams sprouting outta my... er... rear.
  22. Bah, I'm beginning to think I'll never have enough influence with HK for him to tell me anything. I can ask about the computer, but he just tells me I'll have to trust T3. T3 loves me, but I haven't had new dialogue options with T3 for hours, and cannot ask about the computer. I'm going in dialogue circles all the way around, it seems.
  23. Oh, cripes, if some of you simply cannot stand a thread which accentuates the things we particularly liked about the game, and MUST turn every single conversation into a "yeah, but XXX was AWFUL" bitch-and-moan fest, be my guest! (w00t) I don't own the byte space on this thread. I just wanted to tell Obsidian how pleasantly surprised I was by the creative gameplay innovations, and the deep, rich dialogue trees that I have truly, truly enjoyed. If some of you feel you absolutely have to offset any kind word with matching criticism despite the hundreds of criticism threads currently residing on this forum, go for it. Doesn't change the fact that I am enjoying the game immensely! (And yeah, later I will no doubt join in on the what-could-have-been-better threads. Just not now, while I'm savoring the fun!)
  24. Stop. This isn't a bitch-thread. You may choose any one of a hundred bitch-threads in this forum. In this thread, please say only nice things. Thank you. :D
