So the solar flare will last over 4 hours?

Crisis warning - solar flares
Maybe it'll just hit the pacific and we'll all be fine. That's how it works right?

Programming Challenges
I don't really understand what you mean in the 2nd problem "have the computer take some sort of form".

2010 FIFA World Cup
I think England was the better team, but the U.S had a good keeper.

2010 FIFA World Cup
I wonder if there'll be any random headbutting in the last 10 minutes this year.

2010 FIFA World Cup
Interesting opening ceremony, playing a song about New York. Wonder who planned that one.

Sheer elegance in its simplicity
The actual Russian anthem is more kick arse than this

Eyes of a pilot, lungs of a gnat
Is that what they do in RPGs now days? They should force you to trawl all the way back and then fight through the same two layers of dungeon again. Obviously it was a quest item if it had so little retail value.

My god... I just had the most horrible idea.
I think you're exagerating. When I was doing my physics degree you'd actually be penalised for not doing identifying results that would otherwise have an unjustifiable influence over the outcome of the experiment. That's a bit different from what you probably learnt at high school, that making up results is bad, don't do it etc.

My god... I just had the most horrible idea.
It all sounds perfectly reasonable to me. In fact it would conern me if they didn't address such points. No conspiracy here I'm afraid.

The graph on wikipedia looked more presentable than the one on Nasa's site, it was really for your benifit. You can view the one on Nasa's site here: Clicky. The readings from this dataset are taken from more than one station. You can read here about quality Clicky.

My god... I just had the most horrible idea.
I have addressed these points already.

Let me address some of Hiro's points. Firstly you're citing a lot of localised examples, and as I'm sure you're aware for every example of cooling I could point to somewhere warming. Let's stick to the global average. Now here's a graph based off the Goddard institutes instrumental temperature recordings: As you can see it peaks and troughs throughout the individual decades, but overall the average global temperature is clearly increasing. It's just a fact, nothing political about it.

North Korea attacks and sinks South Korean ship, killing 46 people
North Korea gets such a bad press, I mean look at this video: Clicky. Not so evil now are they?

My god... I just had the most horrible idea.
Global warming is a scientific fact. The exact cause is still up for debate, but make no mistake - it is happening.

Movies you have seen recently
I saw a fun film called Time Crimes the other week. Think it's Spanish but it was subtitled. Light entertainment.

UK taxi driver kills 12, wounds 25 in England
I think that shows up on their medical records anyway.

Israel butchers civilians in international waters
Apparently they have an over supply of Mars bars in Gaza, forcing shopkeepers to drop prices. They must really hate Mars bars.

Calm down Volo, it's an expression. He means it's the last thing they expected coming into work that morning. I mean it wouldn't have taken them *6 hours* to catch the guy otherwise. This is probably the most they've had to deal with since world war 2.

Pirate ninjas by the sounds of it. Neat.

North Korea attacks and sinks South Korean ship, killing 46 people
At the end of the day it should be up to South Korea. I think they're perfectly entitled to give North Korea a strong telling off with bombs.

Iran being part of the middle east, would it not be accurate to call them middle eastern?

Gulf of Mexico oil leak
Read on the BBC website they use a plugging agent consisting of used tyres, rope and... golf balls.
