I got to play AP yesterday :-)
Deraldin replied to Jean-Eric Khalife's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Oh yeah? Well, I just played Baldur's Gate 1 and it was awesome! So take that! ... I hate you both. -
Maybe next time someone will be a little more careful hmm?
-
Hey, I was helping another person who got caught by a smoker. Yeah, but you also set it off before we were ready!
-
Yeah... If you have people covering your ass so you don't have to worry about zombies biting it. Nah, if you hit the switch and start running you have enough time to get to the rock and at least 2-3 tries before the first zombie gets to you. Even more if you grab one of the half dozen pipe bombs that are always lying around on that level. Just like you have enough time to get to the barn in Blood Harvest before the first zombies show up. *cough*

The Collector's Edition hasn't officially been announced yet. This isn't the Collector's Edition? LINK Maria was saying that Bioware/EA haven't sent out a press release officially confirming the details of the Collector's Edition.

You're a little slow. This has already been pointed out in the C&C4 thread. They need to add an offline mod that disables the online stat tracking and stuff. If the internet connection is just for cheating your stats, then turning that stuff off when offline shouldn't be a huge deal. Certainly something I'm going to follow though.

That sounds like fun! Do you mind if I join you? I hadn't actually thought about that aspect of purchasing this game. Woo! Also, tin case? Are we talking official steelbook or one of the cheaper knock offs? If it's a real steelbook then I'm definitely picking up the CE. You hear that Obsidian! Steelbook = sale! Now where is my Alpha Protocol steelbook announcement huh?

6 Arcane magic users? I can't imagine playing a full group without any divine casters for the healing. Playing a small group without healing isn't too bad, especially if you manage to pick up a regeneration item or two and it's easier to keep all your characters health when you've got fewer of them to keep track of.

I know. I almost always have Edwin in my party. It's hard not to use him when he gets a crapload more spells than any other mage. Imoen is almost always in my group because I just can't seem to kick her out. You go all that way and "Nah, we don't really want you." just doesn't seem right. Minsc is usually the third character in my party because a party without Minsc isn't really a party at all. That only leaves 2 spots left open if I go with a full group.

Bah, griefer fail. If you are going to join a game to screw people over why would you do it at the beginning of a level? Wait until they are about to hit the safe room and then gun them down. Some people just don't think these things through very well.
-
That's why you hit the switch and then run like hell. If you start running right away you have more than enough time to get to the rock.

We were also playing on advanced until half way through the 4th level when we kicked it up to expert. Otherwise you guys would have died a few more times with those tanks throwing you all over the place. Did the second guy actually open fire on you guys? I do that an awful lot with another group that I play with. We compete for special infected kills which often means incapping the person in front of you so that he doesn't get the kill and then trying to take out the special before his pistols take you down. Can be a lot of fun if you've got a group that can handle playing expert with severely limited health and bodies.

I died. That's what happens when you sit around the house all day. You get eaten by zombies.

You get tired of Lilarcor eventually, but for a while, he/it is an awesome seventh party member. Ex-Moonblade, yeah right! Nah, I don't get tired of him. Especially not when he provides Mind Blank when equipped. One less Chaotic Commands spell I have to memorize. Do you realize how hard it is not to use Ctrl+R when you have cheats enabled so that you can check variables for certain quests? I spent the first half of the game using it before I managed to restrain myself. It was a crutch that prevented me from having to prepare for combat. Why buff when you can just charge right in? Once you get buffed up to eliminate those horrific disabling spells it's not so bad though. Being beaten because your tactics were inferior to the situation is one thing, but being beaten because all your combat characters failed their saving throws against a second level horror spell that can be countered for most of a day with a first level remove fear is horrible.

Hah! Love the look from the kid. Perfectly framed.

Interestingly enough, My Windows 7 64-bit installation seems to handle Baldur's Gate just fine with the single exception of the weather effects. I get single digit frame rates for about 10-15 seconds between weather changes, but otherwise no issues. Running through BG1 with STS was a huge pain in the butt. It's been so long since I've played it that I don't recall how much was STS and how much was just BG1 but I was getting absolutely destroyed by mages that would nail me with level 4 spells when I'm still putting around with Melf's Acid Arrows as my most potent offensive spell. Having half my group held and the other half running in fear gave me a new appreciation for disabling spells. I lost track of the number of times I had my group taken out while all I could do was sit there and watch. Running through BG2 now and having a much easier time now that I'm the one throwing around horror and hold spells. Backstabbing thieves can go to hell with their stupid large number of invisibility potions. I had the last laugh though!
-
Orca Bombers! Whee! If they are stupid enough to not have AA units. Otherwise, yeah, you're screwed.
-
Oh yeah. It was real cool. Until it decided to try crossing a frozen river instead of using the concrete bridge right next to it.

Heh. Everyone always says that mission was really hard, but I swear it's nothing compared to the nuke convoy in the Nod campaign. That thing is a hard mission to beat on anything but easy. well the fact you have to micro manage base defenses with power AND micro manage the team that runs out to get the MCV is FAR harder than just "protect the nuke". I was able to do the nuke on my first try, this'll be my third on Croatia. I had no problem with the micro management, but I always got swarmed and then one of the nukes would go off and it would cause a chain reaction setting the others off and then there was nothing left alive on the map.

The Hutt is and he likes it. *raises hand as well* No problems here yet. Certainly haven't noticed any issues with it yet. I've currently installed and tested Simcity 4, Baldur's Gate 1+2 and a couple newer games like Overlord 2 and Left 4 Dead. All work just fine and I'm not sure whether it's just different default settings but it seems to like my front audio ports a little better than Vista did. It switches between them and my speakers more accurately now.

Wait, Alpha Protocol has multiplayer? Have I missed a dev diary where this was announced? Also, you would not buy a game just because of some crappy bonus weapons that are offered with pre-orders? Seriously?
-
I've never gone through Durlag's Tower before, but it's definitely something that I intend to try out this time. Majek:

I dunno. It's okay, but I still think that Mechwarrior 3 has the better Die Clanner!
