Securom disk check. No limited activations. Supposedly copies made before the release date will have an online activation in that it phones home to check the date in order to prevent pre-release copies being playable. Any discs made after the release date will not have this limitation. Steam version just has Steam itself. Nothing extra. Information from here. Also supposed to have single disc LAN capability.

I cleaned out a number of mine yesterday. I've still got a fair number of them, but probably no where near what you have.

If I ever find out who created the smoker cloud damage mod of Left 4 Dead I will have to hunt them down and hurt them severely. That has to be the single worst mod I've ever had the misfortune of playing with. I ended up in a survival server that had it on. With that mod it is impossible to pick up a smoker incapped survivor. The cloud prevents you from picking the person up right away and it lasts long enough that by the time you can pick them up, you've been swarmed by common infected or the next tank. We made it to 9:39 on Generator room and died because no one could pick me up. 4 times we made it over 9 minutes, but lost because there was one guy that we couldn't pick up thanks to that damn mod.

Not that I intended to buy it anyway with Activision trying to foist the $10 console tax on PC games, but it has now come out that there will not be any dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2. All multiplayer will be conducted through Infinity Ward's new IWNet matchmaking service. Original Article

I can easily see some of the NMA / other bat**** insane ppl rooting for Interplay just as a way to lash out at Bethesda for "destroying the franchise". Those ppl will conveniently forget the fact that they've been bashing and cursing Interplay for 5+ years over there... I think it's less "Interplay is awesome" than "Interplay is the lesser of two evils".

This test went much more smoothly. I had the answers to the theory questions all set and I remembered which diagrams I had to draw to explain my points for the practical problem. Only hiccup was for the stupidest thing. For the life of me I couldn't remember what the hell I was supposed to label the intercepts on my demand graph. I remember everything else, but probably the easiest thing on the test is the one that I blank out on. Third test coming up on monday!

They called us yesterday afternoon to inform us that we had been switched to a slower profile in order to improve stability on our line. At the moment we're having more problems than we had before they played with it. In the 2 days since we've been switched over we have had our connection dwindle to nothing (0.15Mbps up, 0.5 down) three times. We've had this issue with our service for quite some time, but power cycling the router/modem sets everything back to normal so it hasn't been enough to get us to do anything since it was infrequent enough to not be a bother. 3 times in 2 days is pushing it however. Been checking out some options. One of the local telecoms offers ADSL2+ in the area and we're within 2km of the CO. As a bonus they don't throttle and have no bandwidth caps. Need to look into this a little more.

There's less than a week until the public release so I do not think that it's too impressive. Less than a week till console release. *shakes fist* The point was less about the "early" aspect and more about, if you want to see some gameplay, he's streaming it right now. As a bonus there are a couple devs in the chat room watching him play as well. EDIT: He dies a lot.

Someone managed to get a copy of Borderlands early and is streaming on Justin.tv. The also have Mikey Neumann (from Gearbox) in the chatroom watching. I think I just heard him say he's stopping soon, but he mentioned earlier that he'd be streaming every night at 8pm from now until release.

I own Uncharted 1, yet don't have a PS3. It was just sitting there on the shelf in all it's $20 non-greatest hits version glory. I had to buy it. Same reason I also own Infamous and MGS4:LE. Heh. I remember when I walked into EB, saw MGS4, and even though I don't have a PS3 I just couldn't not buy it. I still don't have a PS3, but at least I have played through the game. My local walmart was clearing out the Limited Edition MGS4. They had 8 copies on the shelf for $20 each.

Try it again then. Maybe it's only disabled on the first run, but it certainly is able to be skipped here. For the record, I was referring to the "chantry says darkspawn R CORRUPTED HUMANS DERP DERP, join DA WARDENZ!!1" movie. I know. It's skippable. At least it is on my computer.

If I really, really wanted to, I could probably run a wire from the router in the next room, but it would require moving a lot of furniture to hide it along the wall. I'm just thankful I've got an extra WRT54G around that I could load up with DD-WRT and use as a bridge.

My ping to that server has almost tripled and my speed has increased a little bit. Bell did something to our line today and it's a little bit faster than before. It's more noticeable on the wired connection where we've got a full 5Mb/s down!

Well that test could have gone better. I'm guessing I picked up around 66% or so on that test. I lost at 5 points for not getting one of the questions, 3 more for not completing a second question and I knocked off 4 more marks as a basic "I'm pretty sure I didn't give perfect answers on the rest" loss. We'll see what I actually managed to get in two weeks when I have my next class, assuming it's all marked by then. Now I need to study for Microeconomics for Friday.

Uh, yes. I don't know what version you people got but I can skip the ESRB warning, the EA Bioware logo and the cutscene itself with esc. The character creator itself is a letdown. It's nice to be able to see all the skills and what they are supposed to do. I'm not sure just what I was expecting, but it was a little more than this.

The character creator is up now for anyone that wants to give it a shot. Servers seem to be taking a hit though. I'm bouncing between 1-400KB/s down speeds.

Meta didn't leave because he was fired from being a mod. Endar I believe got into a fight with someone. IIRC there was some argument about the mods not doing their jobs so he packed up and left.
