  1. Usually people die when they seriously try don't they? That was given for Ben's example and I said how I would be okay with that. I'm totally for restricting people pay and capping it, we don't need people who sole job is to continue being with the govt besides judges. Senators and whatnot I believe should be on the same restriction like presidents in only serving so many terms then cut off and can't. I mean this is people who make their money taking everyone's money, at least with businesses u get something back. That bolded bit is a nice joke. I often feel government bashing Americans should read up on their own country's history. Or perhaps recent news. American corporations have always been the main actor when screwing over the American population, even if often the tool of that exploitation was the government itself. Once upon a time, one of those corporate guys was even elected president. Big success. Huge.
  2. So how about restricting government position's wages, and cracking down on lobbying instead of getting rid of a progressive tax?
  3. Getting a tattoo that's paid in Tic Tacs.seems to me like a risky proposition. Wasn't the 85% number applicable only above 1 million bucks? What's wrong with that? Lmao I'm down with over 1 million IF like I said any person who has at any time been a govt representative (mayor/governor/president/IRS/etc) has 85% of anything they own of value goes to the people straight down middle without going to ANY charity OR organization tax free. Basically every 3 months, American citizens get a check in the mail of any govt officials who have died. So your problem is that government officials use the money from the inheritance tax to refurbish their private homes? And what about people that became millionaires by lobbying the hell out of the government, or from gigantic tax handouts?

  5. The linear brushstrokes of the face along with the narrow tonal range and restricted palette result in a flat portrait that is completely overshadowed by the background. Wow! what is going on here? The artist has broadly stroked out the tiniest variations in texture and tone of the background, and clearly spent a great deal of time and attention here. The wider palette and complementary blues and golds create irresistible drama. This is a background with a powerful identity all of its own and serves not to ‘pop’ the subject out but in the end invite us to look around the head and pay attention to what is hidden. So while on the one hand it’s a pandering, finely delineated illusion, fusing the backer with the game, on the other it suggests that this in itself isn’t exciting, it’s a little flat, and perhaps argues that to force the real into the fantasy will result in something boring obscuring something interesting, bullying it out of view. Is it saying that the picture space is the artist’s time, and when the subject bought and paid for this they gained a portrait but something else was lost?, something potentially brilliant? In the end it is the work of an artist obscured by a money-exchange motivated work of a craftsman, as all backer portraits are. I delete them from every game they appear in. P.S. what was the removed item? Hahaha.

  7. The official title for the new Deadpool movie is now "Untitled Deadpool Sequel" Also, here's the official plot description from IMDB: "After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover."
  8. I hope it's okay to post them here? Sorry about the white frames, I just took quick screenshots. Female ones: I was kinda hoping for a new pale elf, but these three look good too (that pendant on the orlan, elephants in Eora confirmed?) Males, 7 of them: (is it just me or the last human looks a biiiit like Josh) A new female Pale Elf portrait should be added eventually.
  9. There is already a stickied thread in the backer beta section of the forums that explains how to access the beta. Regarding the specific time, we don't know yet, but I'm guessing it will be sometime during the night, Central European Time. Probably while we Europeans are sleeping, as that is when everyone at Obsidian is awake and working.
  10. It's shown in Obsidian's stream, by the way, not in the Ellohime's stream.
  11. The new DLC will include new portraits, including some backer portraits.
  12. I was hoping for more portraits, this time around. I assumed there would be a bit more than 20 new portraits, considering there are 18 backer portraits to start with, according to the Fig page. What gaps were there in the original lineup, anyway? Does anyone know? Yes, there is a slider, and it's shown in the video.
  13. Reality has a well known liberal bias.
  14. Quality! Moar: https://unreasonablydangerousonionrings.com/2014/12/08/i-watched-vertical-limit-again-so-you-dont-have-to/ I mostly hate it because I saw it in a theater and it took all my willpower not to abandon the film halfway through. Try Touching the Void for a proper climbing movie.
  15. If you liked Vertical Limit I can show you the door.
  16. This isn't so much a case of the state turning blue, but rather of an impressive increase in turnout on the Dems side. I don't think the turnout numbers are out yet, but the fact that the GOP got more votes in this election than in previous comfortable wins but still massively lost speaks volumes.
  17. Am I the only one who think BG2 was nothing special? I like PoE more than BG2. Heck, i liked BG1 and IWD1 more than BG2 It's perfectly normal to like IWD1 more than BG2. IWD had different design goals, and its quality comes from aspects that are BGs didn't share. BG1, however, I would argue is objectively worse than BG2. BG1 and BG2 are essentially the same game. BG2 can certainly be described as BG1 but better. It has better writing, better art, better quests, better gameplay, and better encounter design. Pillars of Eternity does a bunch of things that are a marked improvement over BG2. It's technically better to start with what goes without saying. The combat is also much better. The writing too. I also like the lore and world building in PoE a lot better than in BG2. The latter just benefits from the familiarity of the Forgotten Realms. The main plot was somewhat underwhelming, however, compared to BG2. I never felt the urgency and engagement I felt with BG2. Irenicus made for a much better antagonist than Thaos.
  18. Here's something interesting I found on Twitter about the Virginia election: "Gillespie got more votes last night (1,172,533) than McDonnell got in his sweeping 2009 landslide (1,163,523). The Dem vote grew from 818,909 to 1,405,007." https://twitter.com/daveweigel/status/928325767301353474
  19. Thomas Kretschmann as Baley would be my suggestion. Or Idris Elba.
  20. I'd argue the right thing to worry about is how the money is spent more than how much money is spent. http://federal-tax-rates.insidegov.com/l/40/1955 An age of prosperity, growth and conservative dreams! Somehow I don't think it's due to the taxes American conservatives long for the 50s. It has probably more to do with certain social conditions at the time. I think 40% is the lowest top federal tax bracket in the history of the US. Also don't confuse the top rate with the overall rate. The top bracket can be 95% and taxes can still be low.
