Season pass is available!
Pidesco replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I linked and quoted the announcement whereby Obsidian says which backer tiers got the DLC for free, as opposed to having to buy the $20 extra. See my post above. Huh. Serves me for not paying proper attention. So it's confirmed that we gold backers should get the season pass in our profiles, eventually.

Well, he is famous for getting guns into the hands of people the Democrats did not want to have them. How is he not universally reviled in the US?

Installation issues
Pidesco replied to Nachti's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I recommend you wait until the game gets released (19h). If the problem persists after that, say something. It’s out in less than 4 hours, my friend. It's out at 19h. 7pm. So not too long to wait.

Season pass is available!
Pidesco replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)The DLC season pass was not part of the Ultimate digital - it was 'sold' seperately. https://imgur.com/skwUf5i.png I haven't been able to find some sort of confirmation from Obsidian regarding that. My googling skills seem to be failing me. I do know that I don't get any sort of discount if I try to buy the DLC now.

Pidesco replied to Nachti's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Installing game on Steam from physical media: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382 Don't forget that you will still have to wait for the game to get released.

Pidesco replied to Nachti's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Some people in Europe have already gotten their hands on retail copies of Deadfire. They come with install DVDs, but it's still necessary to wait until the game gets released on Steam. I think there may be a way to force Steam to install the game from the DVDs, but I'm not sure. Try to disable your internet connection before installing the game, for instance. However, regardless of your success in installing the game, you will have to wait until the evening, though. 5 hours from now.

Digital and hardcover Guidebook Volume II excludes each other?

Digital and hardcover Guidebook Volume II excludes each other?
Pidesco replied to dunehunter's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)With the first game, you got the digital version of the guidebook both in the Steam files and in the backer portal, as well as the physical book. So the new guidebook should show up in the portal, for us, eventually.

Season pass is available!
Pidesco replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I think I read that they've changed that later due to some Steam editions, so as long as your above a certain price level backer-wise, you'd still get it. So as a gold backer I will get this season pass you speak of? Or DLC, or whatever it is called. Or is it two different things? The season pass is what, these days, the young whippersnappers call the collected DLC. The expansions plus the horse armor, if you will.

Pidesco replied to Melusina's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Here's something I was unaware of. My Ultimate Fig Edition doesn't seem to include the DLC. Also, the new guidebook doesn't show up for me in the portal.

[POTD Difficulty] Launch NOT tuned discussion thread
Pidesco replied to Haran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)It's actually pretty normal. Lack of balance is a very common problem with games, especially with difficulty levels, considering that in many games difficulty levels are implemented more as an afterthought. Let's just raise monster HP/deploy more enemies without thought, because almost everyone just plays on normal and we can't justify extra dev time for this is not an unusual thing.

Help me lose my JRPG virginity.
The problem with Suikoden I was that the combat was not good, not that it was grindy. The game had no gameplay worth playing through, apart from collecting the mooks for your castle, and the plot barely existed. The art direction was dire too. As far as JRPGs are concerned I reckon the first Suikoden is at about at the same level as such uniquely horrible games as Secret of the Stars, Tales of Destiny or Breath of Fire. With this in mind, I never could understand how the Japanese green-light sequels for so much obvious dreck. And this brings me to Suikoden 2, which I guess seems good, if you live your whole life in a sensory deprivation chamber with only a playstation, a TV, and the first game. For that limited group of people it must have seemed a revolutionary advancement as it had some gameplay and a plot in there. Note that Suikoden 2 is, for many people to this day, still the best the series has to offer.

Help me lose my JRPG virginity.
A little late to the party, but the best, while also accessible games in that list are Chrono Trigger and FFVI. Play those first in that order. If you enjoy them move on to other games in your list, but if not, don't bother. That said, the best game in your list is Vagrant Story, but its convoluted systems are not for the faint of heart. You can also give FFXII a whirl if you want as long as it is the remake. I'm the best person to tell you about the SMT games, but there are those that swear by the series. The Suikoden games are all bad games, with the exception of the first one which goes beyond that and is one of the worst JRPGs anyone has ever designed. I also noticed you mentioned the Last Remnant, and that's a pretty good game if you invest loads time in understanding the system, enjoy grinding, manage to survive the gameplay hump that is the first 5 or 6 hours of game, and, most importantly don't mind ignoring the story completely. I think it's one of the games on my Steam library with more hours played.
