  1. Did you even read what I actually wrote? I didn't say there was little piracy in the 80s, just that for the pc it was comparatible less than other platforms that were more widespread at the time. Which brings me to something else: That is just not true. That depends a lot on your point of reference. In the 80s the pc was use far less as a gaming machine next to many other personal computers out there at the time. Does 1000 pirated games constitues "much piracy"? Does 10.000? In that case, then sure, there was piracy on the pc. Perhaps even a lot depending on where you put down the number for what constitues "much piracy". However, it was far more widespread on other personal computers because the pc was not the most viable gaming platform for most people at the time. Gaming piracy was only less on PC than other platforms because the PC was a smaller gaming platform that the C64 or the Spectrum. In relative terms, piracy was just as big on PC as it was on other platforms. In fact, not only was piracy a pretty large slice of the market, it was practically institutionalized. My first bought PC came with a bunch of pirated games installed; all of my school's PCs had pirated games installed by the teachers; shops sold pirated games for all platforms. The first PC game I bought that wasn't pirated, was in 1992. If I had to guess, I'd say piracy was a much bigger problem for the industry in the 80s than today.

  3. That means your CDs aren't in good condition. Did you buy the game?
  4. Well, there's a short sex scene in Iron Man.
  5. The acting has never been the best part of Battlestar Galactica.

  7. I did. I thought the script was pretty lazy. I'd say the betrayal "revelation" was badly handled except that it wasn't really handled at all, and the whole "guns are bad" angle felt like it was glued with spit to the rest of the story. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoyed it. It's just that, except for Tony Stark and "Iron Man" playing at the end, it was all pretty mindless and forgettable. I'll be waiting for a sequel. If done well, it might be quite awesome.
  8. Iron Man as well. I thought it was ok, nothing too fancy, I'd say about at the same level as Daredevil, with the difference being that Downey Jr. makes an awesome leading man while Affleck was a bit of a prat. The good bits were the aforementioned Robert Downey Jr. and Jeff Bridges' coiffure, the bad was the crappy script and Gwyneth Paltrow's character. She goes from smart, strong and independent woman in the first half of the movie to wide eyed ingenue in the second half of the movie. I'd shave my head and grow a glorious beard like Obadiah, if my beard wasn't mostly pathetic.
  9. Buy the game if you want to play it.

Yes, I remember perfectly well the revelation of Claire as Jack's half sister. I can't see how anyone would forget that.
  11. Actually, I don't think the difference between sex ed, and biology is the emotional side of sex, but that it's rather that it's just a question of mores. Everyone knows about sex, but almost no one talks about it in a meaningful way, mostly from shame. It's like everyone knows their parents have sex, but no one really wants to think about it.

  16. Does that mean you don't have programming and scripting skills? It sounds like it was it the strength of your cover letter that landed you a gaming job. Would that be true?

  19. Seeing as I have the same major as you do, what other skills allowed you, specifically, to break into the industry?
  20. So you mean you can bag them, but not concurrently?

As I live within a major city with good access to public transportation, I don't need a car. That makes it a lot easier to make ends meet, as I spend only about 30
  22. In Portugal, it seems to me like piracy is about as prevalent in console gaming as it is in PC gaming among the "adult" gamer crowd. Generally it's only the kids with clueless parents who actually buy console games. Oh, and rich people with a conscience buy them too. My point being that what makes piracy worse on PCs is not that it's easier, but rather that the average PC gamer is generally more knowledgeable about these things than the average console gamer.
