  1. You know, in Celsius that's really keeping the IQ standards low.
  2. So? I consider System Shock 1 to be a classic, but for today's standards it's still obsolete, same for PST. And just because there're a lot of fans who still enjoy old games doesn't mean these games should be remade over and over again. Design ought to progress as does technology with time. Apart from System Shock 1's interface, how do you feel PST and System Shock 1 have been improved upon by more recent games in terms of design? System Shock 1 in particular, has pretty much every FPS I've played in the past 4 or 5 years, beat, in terms of design. Also, In terms of choices and consequences, PST leaves most modern RPGs behind.

  4. I thought the directing in American Gangster was one of its weak points. The script didn't help, though.
  5. She probably knows the future already or something. Either her dad or Jacob must have told her what will happen.
  6. No, she isn't. It's her dad who's alive and well.
  7. Tron wasn't based on a game.
  8. But how does EA define what is one PC? Is it just the motherboard, for example?
  9. Doubtful. I don't know exactly how Bioware/EA 's EULA is written right now, but they can modify it to restrict sales. Novell (and I believe a few other companies) have had eBay pull down auctions of their second-hand software for years and years without being sued. So the right EULA can make that legal? Edit: I have a question. How does EA attach each installation to a specific PC?
  10. EA has European offices, however I'm guessing all installation verifications are dealt with centrally in California, which would mean that, if you were to call EA support here to get a credit back, they'd have to contact EA's central offices themselves to get them to give you your installation back. And after that, assouming all went well with the first contact, they'd still have to contact you to let you know that you have your credit back. The whole thing seems a bit daft, to me. I'm betting if someone was willing to sue EA, they'd win on the basis of that second hand sales law thingy.
  11. And who would a European call?
  12. When you feel obligated to give money to give money to a multi million dollar corporation is when something isn't right with the world.
  13. Verbinski is a bit of a hack, who has never made a smart movie in his life, and Bioshock isn't really going to work as a popcorn distraction type of movie.

  15. I always thought vd was an appropriate abbreviation for the guy.
  16. A long while.
  17. Yeah. Four days to be exact. a crack was available the 25th of august and the game was released on the 21st. As far as I can tell though, the first crack was not perfect, and another was out first of september. Maybe that's where the Bioshock people got two weeks. Also, there is actually a very big difference between avoid being pirated and avoid being cracked. There are two ways for pirates to get their games. Cracks or clones. Clones are typically out faster. (I have no idea if there was a clone release for Bioshock though, but it seems like there wasn't which makes this point kind of moot in this case). Ironically, the Xbox version was available to pirates a week prior to release. Bioshock didn't get clones because had to be activated online, and the main exe file had to be downloaded. That's what slowed down the cracking somewhat, by the way. I know for certain that Bioshock was cracked before my copy arrived in the mail.
  18. Gas in the US really is stupidly cheap.

  20. http://www.epidemiologic.org/2006/10/obesi...ral-trends.html I'd say Americans could use a machine that tells them they're fat.
  21. I loved the projection joke.
  22. I'm not saying the parents are lying, just that they probably are very biased. And BMI isn't the most reliable thing in the world, especially for kids. As for the game telling the kid she's fat, that is obviously, a bad thing, and stupid design.
  23. Maybe, but what I'm saying here is that I wouldn't trust the kid's parents as far as I could throw them.
  24. I'm willing to bet the kid actually is overweight.
  25. I find it hard to understand how anyone would rather watch something dubbed instead of with subtitles. Brazilians (or whatever) speaking in a foreign language, plus the added "bonus" of voices that don't match mouths' moving, is a lot worse than reading what's being said. Saw Vantage Point. Big meh. Shallow, mindless entertainment that takes itself very seriously, and tries to appear smarter than it really is.
