  1. Johnny Cash - Solitary Man One of my favorite covers by the Man in Black.
  2. That song is one of the better ones off their new album, in my opinion. Sugar - If I Can't Change Your Mind
  3. Jeff Tweedy - I'm the Man Who Loves You It's part of a benefit show for the Chicago Children's Hospital. It's a 40-song set, and he gets Good Samaritan points for helping the little kiddies!
  4. Man, I just love those harmonies. the Hold Steady - Stuck Between Stations he was drunk and exhausted but he was critically acclaimed and respected he loved the Golden Gophers but he hated all the drawn-out winters he likes the warm feeling but he's tired of all the dehydration most nights are crystal clear but tonight it's like he's stuck between stations
  5. The real question is who's going to headline these concerts? I'd say you can put U2 down in pen, and Springsteen might show up too (hopefully with the E Street Band). Tom Petty, for sure. John Mellencamp will probably offer to play, but hopefully they'll turn him down.
  6. I love playing RPGs, but it's a lot tougher to fit them into my life these days. Hell, I wish I had time to play RPGs more often, because I love developing a character step by step -- or dead gibberling by dead gibberling, if you will -- but the time sink is a real factor. Now, I can sit down for a half hour and play one game in NBA 2K5 and that usually leaves me feeling satisfied. In an RPG, it always seems to take much longer than that to get anything resembling a feeling of accomplishment, whether from completing a quest or even finishing a dungeon. I don't want developers to stop making long, epic RPGs (fantasy or otherwise), as that truly is my favorite genre of videogames. However, I can get my gaming fix in other ways until another RPG comes out that will wreck my sleep schedule.
  7. Ben Folds Five - Philosophy Live on that Jools Holland show, which I guess is what British folks watch to see new music.
  8. The Hold Steady - Hot Soft Light So are these guys the new Thin Lizzy? Cause this song really reminds me of Phil Lynott and the boys.
  9. Soulsavers - Jesus of Nothing This seems like an interesting project. This song sounds something Tom Waits would do. It's got Mark Lanegan (part of yet another side project) singing over a slowed-down electronica/hip-hop beat with Ennio Morricone-style flourishes.
  10. I purchased and played BG1 late last year for the first time, and I enjoyed it more than I enjoy most current games. Roaming the pleasant countrysides and stopping in the occasional town was fun, but I really was floored when I got to the city of Baldur's Gate. That game was really huge (especially for its time), and the low levels really heightened the changes as your character gained experience.
  11. !!!!!!!!!! I am now listening to Live With Me live. Holy Thor it's good. great find, Drabs, thanks for posting! I'm listening to 'Bonnie Brae' there was a rapture... Oh man, have you guys listened to that "I'll Take Care of You" song? Mr. Lanegan sings the blues like his dog just got the clap. I wonder if it's a cover or one of his...
  12. JACKPOT! My favorite blogger posted a fantastic Twilight Singers live show! The sound quality is, how do you say, "off the chain." Check it out: LINK Currently listening to "Too Tough to Die," and it's gooooooood.
  13. Cool! I really like how they did the slow section. The Hold Steady - First Night
  14. I think I'm magic number 300! Do I get a prize?

  15. Not anymore. Sega Sports and Visual Concepts could always give EA a run for their money. Their games always had the edge graphically and I've always thought their controls were more intuitive. But EA's got such a stranglehold on the console sports arena that Sega had to use slick marketing moves like the $19.99 brand new deal -- which is cool for the consumer, but don't expect to see any more of it (see the text I've bolded below).
  16. Ben Folds - Fred Jones Part 2
  17. They're back! Yeah, I heard about Rage getting back together. It's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. The novelty has worn off the whole Audioslave thing, and Zach De La Rocha is probably running out of food stamps. At least a Rage reunion would give him an excuse to finally shelve that solo album he's been "working on" since they broke up. Too bad, I bet he had a lot of "ill rhymes" in which he sticks it to "the man."
  18. When I saw the title of this thread, I assumed you were talking about The Police and their recent reunion at the Grammys (Grammies?). I don't know that Kula Shaker ever really made it stateside. I remember seeing an ad for their album "K" in a guitar magazine circa 1996 or so, but that's about it. Do they have a bigger following in the UK and Europe?
  19. Picked up ESPN NBA 2K5 used for $1.99 yesterday for my Xbox. It's a nice update to the 2K1 edition I remember fondly from my Dreamcast days. Sega Sports could always make a great basketball game.
  20. Heh heh... too slow, buddy, too slow. Interpol - NYC Maybe I'll give these gloomy saddos another chance. "The subway is a porno," you know. Or at least that's what they tell me. Edit: To be fair, that song, "Narc," off their new(er) album is very good. Now I'm listening to "Soft and Sleep" by The Sea and Cake, and I think it's really good. It's got a nice indie-pop feel to it, without too much shine. I like their drummer a lot -- he's crisp.
  21. The Broken West - Down in the Valley Download the free mp3 from SPIN's site!
  22. I saw two shooting stars last night I wished on them, but they were only satellites Is it wrong to wish on space hardware? I wish, I wish, I wish you cared I don't want to change the world I'm not looking for a new England I'm just lookin for another girl I was just listening to my favorite three tracks on the Handsome Boy Modeling School albu, So...How's Your Girl? Conveniently, they're all in a row. 6. Once Again (Here To Kick One For You) - (featuring Grand Puba/Sadat X) 7. Truth, The - (featuring Roisin/J-Live) 8. Holy Calamity (Bear Witness II) - (featuring DJ Shadow/DJ Quest)
  23. I would suggest a small woodland animal - stuffed via taxidermy, of course. Maybe a ferocious-looking mongoose or ferret? If you can find one, a jackalope would be perfect.
