  1. ^ Eldar That was one of my favorite running gags on the forum. It was from back when everybody and their brother was claiming they had alt accounts. I think it started when Eldar revealed he had an alt -- but neglected to identify said alt. So everyone turned into a suspected alt of Eldar's for a while.
  2. Jesus Christ Superstar - Heaven On Their Minds in honor of the big Easter holiday!
  3. I'm doing my taxes.... and it sucks. I already did the federal ones, now I'm doing the state taxes, which apparently you have to do online these days in Ohio. Also, I messed up my back today playing basketball. Now it hurts when I take deep breaths. I think I strained the old "latissimis dorsi" while reaching for a pass that was behind me. I should probably ice it, but I'm not up to that, that's for sure. It's waaaay too cold outside to think about icing anything.
  4. Alanis Morrissette - This is quite honestly the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Alanis turns Fergie's trashy hip-hop smash into one of her patented dirges. The real stroke of genius is the amount of emotion she puts into the lyrics... her drawn-out delivery just forces you to pay attention to the lyrics, which makes you realize just how terrible they are. Alanis gets an A+++ for this, and Canada inches closer to redeeming itself for Celine Dion.
  5. Look at it this way, at least you didn't take down, clean, and reinstall miniblinds, vertical slats and other window coverings for a living for six monthS. DAMN YOU TIFFANY TILTS!!! When I moved off-campus my junior year of college (or "university" as folks around here seem to call it ), I moved into a room that had been inhabited by a smoker. He must have smoked all the time in this room, the walls were yellow and I had to paint the place to rid the room of the stench. It wasn't even like he was smoking something... with a tolerable odor. It was definitely cigarette smoke. But the reason I bring it up is this: The miniblinds in that room were absolutely gross... it was like they were coated with an alien substance. Anyway, my day has been good. I got a pretty big bonus at work for doing some extra stuff, so that was cool. $150 for something that probably took me about 20 minutes total... that ain't bad.
  6. Ah, the height of the beef. Those pics of Dre in the sequined suit are pretty funny though. And it was great how they used them in the video. Wilco - I Must Be High Off their first album. I like it... it's not as needlessly experimental as their more recent stuff. Roots rock, plain and simple.
  7. Is he going to India? I hear they've got good tea there. You know, in East India... R.E.M. - Crush with Eyeliner
  8. I feel like I've been summoned... Anyway, Son Volt - Methamphetamine and before that Frank Black w/Teenage Fanclub - Sister Isabel
  9. Yeah, apparently it wasn't enough for you damn Floridians to beat Ohio State in the college football championship, you had to beat us in the college basketball championship as well. Ah well, my chance at winning the office's March Madness pool died when Aaron Affalo choked in the Final Four against those Gators of yours. Still Greg Oden looked marvelous, did he not? Much better than that ponytailed female with the wispy mustache you guys had in the low post. At least my fantasy basketball team is poised to finish in first place.
  10. Steve Earle w/the Supersuckers - Before They Make Me Run I was pleasantly surprised to hear a few Steve Earle songs in the Ricky Bobby movie. The one I've listed above isn't in the film, but it's actually a cover of a Rolling Stones song. Keith Richards wrote it about his brush with serious jail time for heroin possession in Canada.
  11. I watched two movies the other day. Pumping Iron - the bodybuilding documentary starring Arnold at his ****iest. A must-see, whether you're into weightlifting or not. I couldn't believe how cunning Arnold was in manipulating Lou Ferrigno. He's devious, man, just devious. A League of Their Own - I've always had a soft spot for this one, so when I saw it was on TV the other day I sat and watched it for longer than I intended. It has of my favorite Tom Hanks roles, fallen star ballplayer Jimmy Dugan, the manager who's a bit too fond of the sauce.
  12. Nice. Ted Leo + the Pharmacists - Already Too Late? Towards the end, there's a vocal nod to "Give Me Just a Little More Time." Motown, baby!
  13. when i ran off and left her she wasn't holding a baby but she was holding a bottle and a big grudge against me It's a Soul Asylum cover of a Vic Chesnutt song.
  14. Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now! We're going retro! If Jack Thompson had been relevant when this one came out, it would have been heralded as the original "killographic murder simulator."
  15. "Cryin' Blues" from that Charles Mingus album I was listening to earlier. You guys called it, Blues and Roots. Great playing, and it's not too far out there conceptually ... which is when jazz usually loses me.
  16. They definitely heal up, I've got friends that have had it done and have had to take the earring out for various reasons* and theirs healed up pretty much completely after a couple of weeks. * They must have wanted to get a job. I'm sorry, but the large-gauge piercings have always seemed like the dumbest things you can do to your body this side of the "Fast Food Nation" diet. On-topic: My day was all right. Had to go get fitted for a tux for my friend's wedding. He's going with a bow tie, so I imagine I'm going to have to learn to tie one of those, heh.
  17. ^ Nice! Charles Mingus - My Jelly Roll Soul Look, ma! I'm branching out!
  18. I finally rented Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. It's the Will Ferrell NASCAR movie with Sacha Baron Cohen as the villain. There were a few good laughs, most specifically the cougar and the "Highlander" joke.
  19. Afterhours - Ballads for my Little Hyena
  20. The good: Found out I'm at the top of the office "March Madness" pool. All four of my final four teams made it. I've got OSU winning it all, because I just can't stomach Florida beating us for the national championship AGAIN. I actually have UCLA upsetting them first. Also good, my team got first pick in my buddy's fantasy baseball draft. Welcome home, Albert Pujols! The bad: I'm still doing work and it's 9 p.m. Goddamn deadlines.
  21. That is a beautiful pup you've got there, Kor. Her white paws are kind of a shock with the rest of her being so black. How does she like the snow? From my experience, dogs either hate it or love it.
  22. I picked up the new Ted Leo and the Pharmacists CD this weekend. So far I'm liking it, except for a few songs, and maybe they'll grow on me. I found one of the tracks online as Salon's "daily download" from March 5. You can download it here. It's called "A Bottle of Buckie" and it's a little rocker with some Irish flavor.
  23. Today
  24. "Whatevvah'!" :D -- Oasis - Cigarettes & Alcohol There's a song I can get behind. Oasis - Acquiesce 'cause we neeeeeeed each other we belieeeeeve in one another!
  25. Bummer about your mp3 player, dude. The Afghan Whigs - My Curse
