Gahh.... that hurts. I love to enjoy a good, dark ale or lager, and those are heavy on calories. I do enjoy Guiness stout, and I know one pint of that is the equivalent of eating a decent meal. I guess if I have anything now, it should be a Miller Lite, or similar light pills or lager. I am aware that ordering a shot or mixed drink is no better than a beer calorie-wise, so that's not an answer either. I knew a lot of girls in college who thought they were being smart by doing a shot instead of having a beer... wrong.

Thanks, but I stopped drinking pop (as it's called in Ohio, for some strange reason) a while ago. I still have a Diet Pepsi every now and then, but that can't be too bad for me, right? It's gonna be much harder to stop drinking beer.

Yeah, the key will be if I can keep it up without backsliding into my old ways. Eating whatever I wanted was okay back before I sat at a desk all day. That's when the pounds started sneaking up on me. Temptation is everywhere, so I must set small goals. Like leaving those bagels alone, and reaching for my bag of baby carrots. Yeah...

That's why I'm not in sales. But that's where the money is, and that's why they get food at their morning meetings. Back on-topic (sort of): I've dropped a few pounds after a week and a half of dieting. I've never really counted calories before, but everything I've read has said the only sure way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. I've drastically reduced the number of calories I consume (yesterday was about 1300), but I still have the energy I need to run or shoot hoops. My goal is to lose 10 pounds.

You know, before I hit "add reply," I thought to myself: "Self, you know he's not really defending poker as a sport. Save yourself the trouble of looking like an idiot and ... hey, did the sales team leave leftover bagels by the water cooler again? Score!" Click.

This just showed up on my radar. It's a bunch of metal/hard rock players covering Beatles tunes. They're calling it.... wait for it... "Butchering the Beatles." Because hey, who hasn't wanted to hear Kip Winger try out "Drive My Car?" The artist list reads like a who's who of 80s and 90s rock celebs (with plenty of B-listers). You can stream the whole album HERE. So far I like "I Feel Fine" the best. As far as honest rock singers go, John Bush is pretty damn good.

Yep, heinous oversight there. Most of the "reviewers" over-represented their pet genre, like the guy with two Deftones songs or the guy with all the gothy-techno-grunge songs. It was nice to see Goldfinger (99 Red Balloons) and Bim Skala Bim on there. I actually own the CD with their version of "Brain Damage" - it was a comp called Ska Cover to Cover. Very hit and miss. Still, how can you do a list like that and not include ANY Me First and the Gimme Gimmes songs? At least they had Mojo Nixon. Steve Earle - Reconsider Me (Warren Zevon cover)

Nouvelle Vague - Dancing With Myself I love weird rock covers! ) Speaking of covers.... I don't agree with all of them, but I found the Rufus/Buckley split on "Hallelujah" amusing.

They air CS and Halo tournaments on the sports channels. It's a hand-eye coordination sport... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since when does that determine whether or not an activity is considered a sport? Poker is a sport! Nah, poker is a game. Like video games or Scrabble.

Bears or Colts?
Both of my original picks are already eliminated. Either way, I'm going to go with the Bears, because I keep betting against them and they keep getting it done anyway. They really take this "no respect" thing too far. Anyway, they proved against the Saints that they could stop a great offense in the playoffs. I think TJ will break a few big ones for the Bears, and Manning will have to show some mobility in the face of heavy blitzes. And I still think Dallas Clark will have a good game. Either way, this game will be fun to watch.

Same here. It's definitely more useful now. Does this upgrade mean I'm going to have to go elsewhere for tranny porn links and Propecia advertisements?

Gah... I should have thought of that first one. I haven't seen the second in any headlines yet, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Conventionally, pumas generally avoid humans. It's possible that the one that attacked the old fella was sick, like Gfted1 said earlier. The oldsters were hiking in a national park, I believe, so a squeezed habitat shouldn't be the culprit here.- Senior citizen fights off mountain lion
