  1. Honestly, nintendo took first prize for E3 for me. With Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids, Breath of the Wild DLC, Rocket League, Metroid Prime 4, among a host of indies coming to the system and cross platform play. I can't put the switch down and the mobility is the best part. I will say that lately, mostly due to Nintendo as of late, gameplay has been trumping all and also how/where you can play. Just the ability to take and play games like Zelda, Binding of Isaac or Minecraft has been a good change of pace for my lifestyle lately. One last note. I really enjoy the smart steering in Mario Kart. I finally found something to play with my little ones for now. A good component/option for the game.
  2. Assassin's Creed looks pretty interesting but the whole 4 edition thing including a full game and season pass valued at at least $100 will make the wait easier till a complete edition of huge sale later in. Tired if these Deluxe/Gold/whatever editions from Ubisoft.
  3. For sure. I played a far bit on the pc and enjoyed my time with it.
  4. Looking forward to this on the PS4 and excited to see load times so short, crazy if they're actually under 5 seconds throughout the game.
  5. I have ordered a bundle for the Nintendo Switch which includes Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a pro controller and case, and it should be here by Monday. I'm actually pretty excited. Been focused on work too much lately and am genuinely excited for something new including all the good things I'm hearing about Zelda, especially on the go. Also, pretty excited about the prospect about Mario Kart with the kids, due to the smaller controllers, and easy controls. Heck, even my non-gamer wife might give it a go for sure. I will say, from reading Tale's post, i will say openworld gaming has become quite stale recently, but I'm still optimistic about Zelda, again, due to what I've read, and being able to have easier access to it when I want, being portable, plus from what I've heard, seems a little more casual in some ways and better in bits. Again, cautiously optimistic. I'll post more about it when I receive it next week.
  6. Oh I loved the Metroid games. How are you playing it? A 3DS? Honestly don't know anything about those systems. I'm actually trying to find a Switch to play something with my kids and possibly my wife who does not at all. Hoping Mario Kart could be a good starter.
  7. Lately, I've been playing some of the Marvel Heroes Beta on the PS4 and have been really enjoying it. Just a fun past time to spend 15-30 minutes here and there. The loot is fun and I don't mind that the loot doesn't change your appearance like most other games. I know it may be a turn off for some, but I really like how the map is split up quite a bit and you're able to get through the segments at a decent pace. Looking forward to the release. Also, putting in a little bit of time in Portal Knights and enjoying that building process. I got away from those types of games, (really had fun with Terraria) and enjoy the small elements of character progression. Eyeing up the sale on Dragon Quest Builders on the PS4 and was looking to find if anyone has put in anytime and could say a few words about it. Thanks!
  8. I could see you enjoying Horizon: Zero Dawn, so you might want to look into that for the PS4. I could never dig the Nathan Drake series because the first one was a lot of shooting. I hear the sequels are better. I will say, the last Uncharted would probably be for you then. While it does have some shooting, it seemed like quite a bit less than the previous titles. I felt that it definitely focused more on the story, which to me, is what Naughty Dog excel at, including The Last of Us.
  9. Alright, as always, something different. Went through Deadlight on the PS4 because I've been playing a lot of open-ended or extremely long games and needed to feel some accomplishment. lol Made some more progress through Nioh, which is such a good game. A little more approachable to me than Dark Souls due to progress being partly based on gear. On the same note as getting through Deadlight, I've also started and making progress through Ori and Blind Forest: DE.
  10. Ugh, no that work has picked up, (damn you real life) I feel like I'm pulling myself into too many directions to enjoy any game right. Never really played JRPGs before but after 8 hours into Persona 5, damn, I don't know how to explain it. Everything about this game should be something that I'm not the biggest fan of, but I keep finding myself wanting to play more and more, passing days, leveling my characters, figuring out the story, side content, etc. Just really good and having a great time. Started a new character in ESO on the PS4 due to not having played in a long time and my brother-in-law is wanting me to level up and run dungeons with him. I will say the extra experience going on right now as part of their promotion makes the leveling more fun. Wanting to start Tides of Numenera when I get a few hours open to delve into the reading. Time, time, come back to me....................
  11. I think this will be a solid, decent game in about 6 months, with patches and updated features. Now, the wait till these bullet points of theirs are fulfilled so I can try it out.........................
  12. Thanks for letting me know about Sword Coast. Didn't see that it was on sale. Good price for it and hope the controls are decent. Scorpio looks like a nice upgrade but I think Microsoft have to be very good about pricing. They are down two to one this gen and could make up a good amount of ground with an upgraded console at a "decent" price point
  13. Oh wow. I didn't know they had the Ultimate Edition for Dragon Age Origins on gog. Thanks!
  14. I would really enjoy a code. Been meaning to pick this game up and would really appreciate it!
  15. This is what always frustrates me with MMOs or even ARPGs that there's always a OP way to do a class or race and all I want to do is play games and have fun. I don't have the time nor want to spend the time to be the king of the leaderboards, I just want to enjoy myself.
  16. He's definitely put in his time in the video game business. Can't blame a guy for wanting to relax and enjoy his life. I'd retire right now, if I could afford to, and I'm significantly younger than Brian Fargo. I'd retire immediately if I had the money to do so and I'm 30 years younger than Fargo. But then again I'm not creating anything else except tears and misery. I'm sorry but this made me laugh out loud this morning. I needed that.
  17. I've put in about 16 hours so far and have been enjoying. The story has been decently engaging and the gameplay really solid. I did finish ROTTR previously and thought that was a great experience overall. Playing an open world again makes me think on what I like about games. While I didn't have any problems with the size of athe Witcher 3 and it's length, I do have somewhat of a hard time starting up a save of Horizon as compared to something more compact lately.
  18. Yeah, it's obvious Pillars of Eternity had been developed by a highly experienced team that already works well together. You can say what you want about the game, but even on release it was already a highly polished title, if not technically competent. Numenera in comparison feels a lot more amateurish. The music feels... Unremarkable. Which is a huge shame, especially seeing what Justin Bell achieved with extremely limited budget of Pillars of Eternity. I have not played TTON but have been following along with this thread and your words about amateurish have been resonating and when comparing to Pillars, I definitely had that feeling when playing Wasteland 2. While I really enjoyed a lot about WS2, I always felt like I was playing a very good indie companies' game as compared to when I played Pillars. Again. Not saying InXile is bad but when all the talk came out about cutting kickstarter goals and dropping Foci from the game, I kind of half expected it. To me Obsidian and devs like Larian studios are just on a higher tier.
  19. Honestly. A lot of people here share my likes and dislikes and I've definitely heard about a couple different and new games here as well. Have always liked the community. Over the years I've just paid less and less attention to the click bait arcticles of the igns and gamespots of the world.
  20. I just started Horizon: Zero Dawn today and think I basically made it out of the "tutorial wall off" area which took about 4 hours, but I did a bit of exploring and extra hunting, because the gameplay has been quite fun. I will say that I'm intrigued by the story so far, especially with it being an open world and look forward to putting some more time into it. The bow gameplay is quite fun and even the melee has a good weighty feel to it. And yeah, it's gorgeous, even on a standard PS4. I'll have to upload some screens soon.
  21. Finished up the main story of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Really solid game and I can see why it got so much praise and holy wow, is there a ton of collectibles. I thought I was doing a decent job searching the maps for items, with and without maps to help within game, but I didn't even breach the 75% trophy yet. Quite crazy, but something to go back and do since the actual gameplay of the game is so much fun. Started up a game of Xcom 2 as well. In the mood for some tactics and Xcom has always hit that spot. Also started a game on the first Xcom on my ipad, which has actually been fun to go back to and see what's changed. I will say the touch controls are quite nice so far. Looking forward to Horizon come Tuesday. Seems to have been getting a lot of praise and I've kept myself in the dark as much as I can not watching trailers/gameplay/etc. Nice to go in blind sometimes. I would love to start Torment, but want to find a time this summer maybe when I know I'll have some solid time to get into it.
  22. Can I be the first to chime with in with, "waiting for the GOTY Edition." Probably sometime mid year.
  23. Still making my way through Niog, which is still going great. Loving the combat for sure. Also, making my way through Rise of the Tomb Raider and just loving this game as well. While the story is fine enough, certainly not the best, the actual gameplay and traversal is awesome. I will say though, when it comes to gameplay, the only thing I'm not a big fan of is clicking the right stick in every once in a while to highlight possible items/collectibles/etc. I don't know what the best way for a developer to do for this component, but I believe The Witcher 3 was a nice balance as far as how much it distorted your visuals. Rise of the Tomb Raider is kind of like Batman, where I feel the developers created this beautiful world, but you're constantly looking through the game in a different lens to pick up collectibles and not miss items throughout the game.
  24. Alright, put some time into Nioh and enjoying it quite a bit. It does a LOT of things right in my opinion. I love the loot system and combat gameplay. I've been playing it on my PS4 (not Pro) on action mode, which is a constant 60 fps 720p. While some may cringe at that, I really haven't felt the game to be ugly, however I will say the gameplay, being 60 fps is a stark difference from the locked 30 fps with better visuals. I believe I'm about to leave the first "region" but have been grinding sub missions and dabbling into random co-op sessions which for about 90% of the time have been superb, however one feature I wish would/could be added is, if you join someone else's game, if they're afc (away from controller) for more than 5 minutes, you can have the option to leave and keep all the loot you have found and amrita (souls in this game), because I joined a random co-op game where the player was just standing there and I pretty much cleared the entire sub mission with the exception of a door that needed to be option and I couldn't open the door, being the person that joined. That's been the only gripe I've had so far. I believe I'm at or just above level 40 and again, have been having a great time so far and frustrated with having to leave for the weekend to visit relatives (oh family life:) I basically have been using a spear and dual swords, which are both quite fun, but have also dabbled into most of the weapons and they honestly all feel really good. Again, the combat is really tight in this game. I hope with newer iterations of Souls games, that they incorporate the idea of a loot system similar to this game because honestly, that's been a good mini sense of achievement so far, while running through main and sub missions. I really should take some screenshots sometime and will look into doing so in the near future.
