  1. One of the primary reasons why the development time is roughly 1 year as opposed to 3 is that Obsidian does not need to create and test the game engine from scratch.
  2. And here I thought this was another rant against George Lucas. BUT....here's my 2 coppers: The Kyle Rayner character early on in the Marz run was pretty decent. I had fumed over the whole way DC just screwed over the Hal Jordan character and disliked Rayner because of it, but the stories were compelling enough and really enjoyed Daryl Bank's art. I quit when he left. Although I'm not sure just how they can bring back Jordan and the Corps, the concept of the GL Corps is a fascinating one. And Jordan was a great superhero type character. Especially after the Emerald Dawn series. It's unfortunate that Kyle will now take a back seat, but what DC did to the fans back in '94 was horrible and it just seems right that Hal Jordan is back in that uniform with a Corps around. Just a casual fan's perspective.
  3. ONLY Redemption. I guess you could call it Gossett's Redemption more then anything else. I found that "I want a Basalisk war droid!" line to be quite funny.
  4. "lol try not to set him off please..Lets try to keep the childish bickering to a minimum k? thanks for cooperation" okie doke. But with the caveat that I do think bickering happens to be fun =) "Man it was a simple joke. Just like my "anti-eu conspiracy". It is you who are taking things too serious." If you say so. Believe you me, I'm cracking up over this whole thing. With that, I'll go off on my own business and watch the rest of this *cough* debate as a warm up to tonight's US Presidential debate.
  5. Wow. I didn't realize that there was an anti-EU movement. Did they re-instate the draft or something? Cuz I sure didn't know of this movement... "Used first by an old liar Obi-Wan to cover his obvious lie, now by Leferd to cover the fact that EU (despite few mistakes) is quite coherent in its timeline and there are no points of view." Wow you really do take this thing very seriously. Right down to its black and white world view.
  6. In regards to following EU material closely: "Luke, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view."
  7. Not necessarily in what you say but in the way you present your case.
  8. Nur Ab Sal: You strike me as a hypocrite of the truest sense. You freely accuse others of being close-minded and hurl insults left and right when anybody can read of how close-minded you are and accuse others of insulting you. This is a pattern that I have noticed ever since I've seen your screen name popped up on this board. My advice -just loosen up a little bit. You know a lot about SW. That's fine. Don't accuse others of laziness and tell others to F themselves if they don't share your passion. Passion is a good thing, but it becomes trouble when it mutates into zealotry. Lots of the people here have a good sense of humor and trade barbs with each other in good fun. Do that. I've read lots of the the Star Wars EU. From Anderson to Zahn and the TOTJ comics. Admittidly, I've stopped reading that stuff right around '98. I really liked Star Wars and the escapism that it represented for me. But I had to stop. Why? Cuz Most of it was just bad. I was hoping to find something that matched the quality of Zahn's original trilogy. I didn't. There are tons of other stuff escapist type books to enjoy that are not SW related. TOTJ varied in quality from just plain awful -to promising, yet flawed (Redemption being the best of the bunch). I got my Star Wars fix and that was that for EU. A KotNR would be a bad idea. Severely limits the creative storytelling possilbility if there are too many imposed guidelines as to not step on the shoes of other EU related material. BAD IDEA. Atleast for developers like Bioware and Obsidian. And on the subject of this being a Star Wars board---it really isn't. It's a game developing company's board. A company who's main fan base are RPG players and not necessarily SW fanatics. There are plenty of SW fans in this community but a majority of the people come to this board as fans of the developers.
  9. You greatly overstate your case when you throw around the word "lazy" in connection to the efforts of a project that had people spending three years of their lives on. Especially for a project that was by most accounts a critical and financial success. Whose sequel, I might add is highly anticipated by atleast hundreds of thousands of people, including by boardies who are participating on this thread.
  10. Unfortunately, not every gamer has the time, patience, or fanaticism to go search every single nook and cranny of every game they play. That and KotOR wasn't meant to be Morrowind.
  11. I've read the EU. All EU isn't created equal. Most of it is tripe. KotOR (BIO's version) ain't. Move along.
  12. Have you checked out Death Cab For Cutie? The PS is mostly a side project of Death Cab's Ben Gibbard and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborrello. Great stuff. I especially like the male/female duets.
  13. I'd like a bald, berserking jedi npc companion, who has a miniature giant space pet mynock, and owns a lightsaber named Droid's Bane.
  14. Limit the access to quick and complete healing for your party.
  15. The single lightsaber look is classic. The other styles are too prequelish.
  16. Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.
  17. GENERALLY speaking, The NWN crowd follow Obsidian as a company more closely than the KoTOR crowd. Many have been fans of the devs since the days of Black Isle and tend to be an older demographic. The KoTOR fans tend to be younger and are more fans of Star Wars than crpgs. I would say that there are probably more NWN fans interested in KoTOR than KoTOR fans interested in NWN.
  18. If Jolee were to make a cameo, he should say it.
  19. "i think he meant lightsaber battle" That's a one shot event. Small sample size. Not statistically significant. Flukes happen. Therefore it's a crapshoot. However...if enough single duels were to occur...say....500+, more jedi would die than sith.
  20. The Jedi are about wisdom. The Sith are about power. The Jedi are about ideals. The Sith are about tangibles. The Jedi would ultimately win in a battle of ideas. The Sith would ultimately win in battle of politics.
  21. That was cool (atleast to this particular geek), Thanks. I agree, the technological look of TOTJ is quite unique and very cool. And yes, the series was very epic in scale. (maybe too much so) It's got classic good vs evil. Betrayal. Wars across several star systems etc. But I liked Redemption the most because it was NOT epic. It dealt with personal issues. Issues arisen over the fallout from Exar Kun's war. You actually got to know about the individual characters as they deal with their personal demons, rather than doing things that will affect millions and billions of people across the galaxy. Ulic Qel Droma - a great jedi who fell to the darkside and became the apprentice Dark Lord of the Sith to Exar Kun. Blinded to the force by his lover Nomi. He is trying to escape his dark past through isolation. Seeking a personal inner peace that continiously evades him. Nomi Sunrider - Jedi and hero of the Exar Kun war. Master of Battle Meditation. She carries the weight of the rebuilding jedi order on her shoulders. As a leader of Jedi, she is burdened beyond belief, leaving no time for her only daughter Vima. The two great loves of her life met an untimely fate. Her husband murdered before her eyes and Ulic betrayed her, the jedi order, and the Republic. Sylvar- Cathar Jedi. She is succumbing to her anger and teetering on the brink of the dark side. Her rage targeted at Ulic and how the other Jedi remain content with leaving him alone, rather than having him pay for his crimes. She feels that he is responsible for the corruption and death of her mate Crado. Tott Doneeta - Twilek Jedi. After long years of fighting for the greater good of the galaxy, he is only now returning to his home planet, a planet that he felt he has neglected and has been far too long consumed with war. Vima Sunrider - Now a teenager. The daughter of Nomi is strong in the force. She has a great destiny, but unfortunately, she feels neglected by her mother---who is always busy with matters of galaxy shaking consequence. She wants to be a jedi and so goes in search of the one she admired the most: Ulic Qel Droma. Though a fugitive, she remembers the Ulic who acted as a surrogate father to her, the noble jedi knight, and not the villain that everyone makes him out to be. And how does this relate to KoTOR? Bastila was originally supposed to be Vima Sunrider. Now that would've been cool.
  22. Nur Ab Sal --VERY NICE. A couple requests: Both from REDEMPTION. 1) The scene where we get our first real look at the aged Ulic from issue 1. 2) The scene in which Sylvar finds, confronts, and challenges Qel Droma to a duel from issue 5. Not necessarily for technological reasons but for pure asthetics and so others could enjoy the artwork. I think Redemption was Gossett's best work.
  23. Checked out the LA site. It's dead. Then again, there hasn't been anything too interesting going on here either...
  24. So you want a PW NWN with laserswords?
  25. Bioware doesn't own NWN. Bioware never ported NWN. Porting decisions are left to the publisher. In which case, the actual porting was done by another development house.
