  1. [–]Jexlz 12 points 5 hours ago I think you recently said you won't include romances in the game. They are almost standard in these kinds of games. What was your reason for not including them? permalink [–]obsidian-badlerObsidian Entertainment 29 points 5 hours ago Josh's response was that he didn't feel we could do them well with the time and resources that we have available to make the game. Take it from the guy who makes the schedules, he isn't wrong. Romances are very expensive to do well and we would have to cut things from the game to make them properly. permalinkparent
  2. I can't stand Houston. Just hate, HATE the way they play the game. If you want to talk about an Analytics or Bust approach, that'll be the Houston Rockets under Daryl Morey. Offense is precipitated on three things: the three pointer points, in the paint, and free throws. They lead the league in 3pt attempts/g, second in FTA/g, and among the leaders in points in the paint. They are in the bottom quarter in assists/g. They also are by far, on the bottom of the league in mid range FG attempts. All by design. Of course, this makes sens as the Expected Value of a midrange or long two is pretty abysmal when compared to a three point shot or shots from the paint( high fg% or increased free throw likelihood). Essentially, their offense is based on the pick n roll. Ex: Harden/Lin play a two man game w Dwight. This will lead to either a dunk to Howard, a drive by Harden or Lin (or foul shots as a result). No surprise that harden and Howard shoot tons of foul shots a game. If the defense collapses and packs the paint, they'll find Parsons or another shooter waiting for a corner trey. The confounding thing is that for all the volume of threes they shoot, they are not a very good jump shooting team at all, but the percentages say that shooting a three gives you solid EV. Sigh. It's Predictable, boring basketball with lots of stoppages and and not much in the way of aesthetical creativity. Plus Chandler Parsons. There is probably no one in the association that I would enjoy more seeing getting elbowed in the face.
  3. It'll probably be the same to purchase now as you would purchasing upon release. But backing now would give you the peace of mind of knowing that you are helping fund its development. Then again, you could conceivably save money if you were to wait some time after release and take advantage of a steam or gog sale.
  4. I'm in general agreement.
  5. The Biathlon events have been the most enjoyable for me to watch. Then again, I come from a cross country and track and field background so anything that involves anything close to a foot race is exciting for me. Plus guns.
  6. Olympic medalist and a Stanley Cup contender. Good way to cap his career.
  7. The Religion definitely sounds like something I would like.
  8. Ibaka.
  9. Don't be daft. Whether he is overrated or not, Strve Nash is/was fun to watch and young point guards should study his game. Lols.
  10. I was never concerned who as to who was/is the best player in the world. I admired Jordan's game but there were far more entertaining and compelling players in his era: Barkley, Stockton and Malone, Detroit's Bad Boys, Run TMC, Lakers vs Celtics, Muggsy Bogues and Manute Bol. Today, we have Lebron. He's the best. Durant is #2. But then we also have the greatest distance shooter in history in Stephen Curry. We have the machine-like efficiency of Popovich's Spurs. There's Steve Nash. And we have the utterly incomparable J.R. Smith!! No point in getting hung up over who is the best. Just enjoy the game and the players we do have. ps LARRY SANDERS!
  11. MCA wrote a blog entry on characters a while back which might be relevant to the topic. http://forums.obsidian.net/blog/1/entry-168-project-eternity-and-characterization/ And his vlog on the same.
  12. 1993 IBM Model M keyboard. Still going strong!
  13. I actually like half the names. Normally, I just roll my eyes at fantasy names because they try too hard. While agree with the bolded, the names in PoE doesn't do it for me, with the possible exception being Sagani. I'm partial to The Devil of Caroc. That sounds like a name Sawyer would have come up with.
  14. $200 million ($100m development+ $100m marketing) is some pretty good scratch. Ouch. Is there a category for something beyond AAA? We're talking about the CoD's, GTA's etc...
  15. I'm actually seeing it as Levine wanting to make smaller scale niche games in the vein of KS, just without the crowd funded aspect.
  16. I rarely watch all star games but I usually enjoy the skills competition -home run derby, 3pt shoutout, slam dunk, slap shot, marksmanship etc. The slam dunk stuff this year was pretty lame though. Team competition??? Bah!
  17. That would be hilarious.
  18. Despite being a male hetero hatemancer myself, albeit with an appreciation for the works of Jane Austen -and an affinity to the Napoleonic/Regency period, I can't help but be drawn to this.
  19. Put this on your resume Mr. Curry.
  20. That statement has absolutely no bearing on the reality of just how good Steve Nash was.
  21. http://grantland.com/features/approaching-the-finish-line/ Bill Simmons's Grantland piece on Alan's favorite player. Savor it while it lasts.
  22. Lebron is a potential free agent after this year. Maybe the Heat should cut their losses and trade him to the Warriors. Maybe for David Lee and some scrubs to make the contracts match up. Yep they really should.
  23. Curry game winner against the Heat. Count it in the books. Then Lebron takes a step back, fadeaway three in Iguoudala's face with .02 seconds left. All praise the mighty Volo.
  24. There's definitely a lot of XCOM fans here. For me, it's my favorite game to come out of since KotOR 2.
