Fair enough. I certainly have low opinions of muckraking gossip sites like TMZ and I'll withhold judgment regarding just how they obtained the recording and to what extent (if any) was it a sting job. But the NBA and Adam Silver did the right thing once it was out In the open, no matter what the motive or past history. ... The Clipper are still a scumbag franchise and Blake Griffin is a shameless flopper with fake tough guy tendencies. Beat LA!

Ok just so I'm clear, because my reading comprehension sucks, and in no way is this meant as a strawman: Volo doesn't like the ban because it's a trespass on Sterling's freedom of speech and the NBA are fascists for taking action. Keyrock is outraged because Sterling's rights to privacy was violated, he shouldn't be punished for his views regardless of how reprehensible they are. Additionally, owners are phonies because they didn't act before; knowing full well who he is as a person and are only acting because of the extent that it went viral, that they are acting out of fear of a lynch mob.

PS NBA constitution has a rule which states that a 75% vote can force out another owner. That would be 22/29. Reports are that the vote is 29/29.

Was it entrapment? Sure, probably was. Is V. Stiviano a goldigger? Hells yes. Were privacy laws violated? That's for the courts to decide. Nevertheless, the NBA finally had the smoking gun they need to boot his ass. The NBA isn't the government and they don't have to abide by the laws of unlawful seizure. Fact is the tapes were released and the basterd was caught. I can live with that. Look I don't want this thread to turn into another Edward Snowden scenario, but bottom line is he said what he said. Players, owners, and fans want him out. Now he's gone.

Sterling exercised his right for free speech. Now the NBA exercised their right for self determination and free enterprise in response.

Ban Hammer for Sterling. Good riddance.
  7. I much prefer the Sharks from games 1 through 3...

This year's first round of playoff hoops have been off the wall bonkers. So much stuff going on and off the court. This is great! Another crazy finish, this time Portland and Houston.

Warriors finally commit to paying Smallball and end up running the Clipppers out if the court. Warriors did a great Jon of spreading the floor and made DeAndre Jordan irrelelevant. Curry was able to get free of the traps and blitzes and finally shot like Stephen Curry. Meanwhile the Clippers obfuscated all "Clippers" logos and went with their "Los Angeles" unis. Much respect for those guys. I wonder if they will do the same at home...
  10. That's why I bought a mechanical keyboard, except these are nowhere near the standards that IBM used to have. These guys still make the original Model M (in the same factory) http://www.pckeyboard.com I use one at work and still use my 1993 IBM Model M at home.

Bottom line is that Sterling has irreparably damaged his reputation with the league, players, agents, sponsors, and fans. Even if it turns out that the tape was doctored, he can't recover from this because his past transgressions with minorities have already come back out from the woodwork. If he doesn't sell (and make a very handsome profit too), the Clipppers will be blacklisted to irrelevancy again. Anyways, I'll be at the Warriors-Clippers game this afternoon, and damn straight I'll add my voice to whatever anti-Sterling chants that's going to come out today.

That was an entertaining 4th quarter. Nifty drive by Manu only to be topped by Carter with that buzzer beater.

Ain't a vacuum. The world don't work that way. Free speech is good and all, and so Sterling won't be prosecuted by the government for hate speech, but that doesn't mean there won't be repercussions. The NBA is an image conscious league that cares very much about public perception. Players and other owners have already begun to speak out against Sterling. His statements will have fiscal consequences and the league will be in damage control for here on out. They will act.

Well it's out in the open. There is just too much sheer outrage and bad publicity for the NBA to do anything other than suspend Sterling and perhaps behind the scenes, force him to sell. Otherwise there is just no way for the Clippers to function competitively after this season. From an operational standpoint, they will lose significant sponsorship money and No player with self respect would want to play for this bigot. Sports moreso than most industries are ahead of the curve when it comes to social justice and race relations. Unless Adam Silver wants to lose his credibility with the players, he will be forced to act.

I completely think that there should be punitive repercussion initiated by the league office. If those comments were made by a team employee or player, you bet there would be suspensions. Not like there aren't any precedents for owners being suspended and/or forced to sell due to racist comments. Exhibit A: Schott, Marge. I doubt the Clippers will see much free agency action as long as Sterling continues to own the team. For a predominantly African American dominant league, this will not go away.

Thankfully we have wonderful news organizations like TMZ to break just how crummy a human being Donald Sterling really is.
  17. ****roach genre? And a new phrase is coined today, ladies and gentlemen. Gotta love this guy! ****roaches and Slam Dunks. That's Uncle Feargus for you.
  18. Are we taking any prop bets as to what survives the great EU purge? Thrawn, Mara Jade, the Solo twins??
  19. Speaking of cameos, I always figured Bishop in NWN2 was a stand in for Sawyer. He kinda looks like him and "Bishop" was his old handle back in the day. Plus Bishop had an extreme, chaotic evil bent to his personality, greatly exaggerating Josh's posted libertarianistic political views.
  20. Thanks for the tip! Picking up VtM:B.
  21. For BG2 and ToB, there was Gromnir, Mencar Pebblecrusher, Del, and Lanfear. I may be forgetting a few. But there were definitely a lot of crybabies. Including Lanfear herself, who couldn't quite get a joke. ...Typical humorless German not understanding American/Kanedan making funny.
  22. Whaa?? When did he do that? Only time I witnessed him break character was on the old Interplay boards circa 2003 when he called out Feargus for the downfall of Black Isle.

Not a good night for OKC. And especially not for Golden State. Still, they broke The Clippers serve. Now they just need to take care of business at home.
  24. "It's also worth noting that PST's soundtrack was more or less rushed by the publisher." You realize that the developer and the publisher were one and the same, right?
