not one of those did we actually "start" the conflict... the most notable is korea in which we were ASKED to help. to say we "started" wars does not equate to "invading" a country... big difference, not just semantics. taks

I've accurate sources!!! Medieval kings DID NOT infact walk around barefoot! my guess is they didn't actually "wear" crowns, either... prolly too busy fighting. taks

uh, given that the whole king arthur thing is myth (well, mostly myth, some fact), to refer to it as 'historically accurate' is a bit of a misnomer. the only 'true' part of the myth is that there is legend of a warring tribal leader in the first millenium that fought in and around eurpope and england. whether or not he was a 'king' that united england is another question... just about everything else was added a thousand years later (malory, tennyson, et. al.) taks

Holy metal, <PC NAME>! What? This metal, it's rusted and full of holes... Oh. taks

the main picture (at the intro) is definitely dudes (or dudettes) wearing the two toed thingies... also, the picture of the ninja outfit is pretty clearly such. they're more like a slipper, with a thin, rubbery bottom for various reasons; stealth, comfort and balance to name a few. now whether this is really what these types used to wear is beyond my knowledge... taks
-
they aren't wearing army boots... those are the two-toed slipper type thingies. this isn't a "these guys" thing... this is some poor delusional child as evidenced by the final caption: "This is a picture of my best friend Mark showing off. He's a lot older than me and almost done with puberty, which is bragable." i wanted to cry when i read that... hehe. does this mean i can brag? taks

well, this is the way off topic section... even a virus that changes name and such needs a way to get started, i.e. something needs to touch it to start it. simply sitting on your hard drive is not enough to kick it off (it is not self aware unless it is already running). i can't think of any reason for your system to need to use notepad.exe, so removing it from quarrantine probably won't hurt as long as the references to the bad registry entries are removed (whatever the virus used to get started...) and any other infected portions of your computer have been cleaned. keep in mind, this is not my specialty in life so you may want a second opinion on this. however, it is sensible to assume that a trojan horse remover would take into account that the program needs to be in the open in order to be cleaned, therefore it is probably not a bad thing to free it. taks

that's not really it... music, and art in general, is about expressing your feelings. if this is what they're feeling and thinking, this is what they sing about. musicians that think about dandelions sing about them (and probably indulge in waaay too many hallucinagens...). musicians that are worried about political things sing about them. taks

i listened to that stuff when i was a bartender... good rhythms for getting into a groove... particularly when you're in the weeds (buried beyond belief with more customers than humanly possible to serve with two people, let alone one). taks

van halen just released another single, btw... i liked it. it sounds like old eddie! load was a load. reload was, well, the same load as before, just served with a different garnish. st. anger was... well, i suppose i didn't get it as lars stated in an interview. ahhh judas priest. unfortunately, i cannot help it, but yes, most of halford's songs did suddenly take on a whole new perspective after he came out... taks

not everyone should blow smoke up our collective arses just because it's "nice" or "fluffy." we can't just turn our heads and pretend there are issues that the media, music industry, film industry, et. al shouldn't be covering. music serving as a socio/political platform is not just a trend of the new age. music, nay art in general, has always tried to make a statement about society (at least the artist's view of society). though i don't necessarily agree with many of metallica's viewpoints, i fully appreciate the fact they're willing to make such statements with their music. note, too, they aren't out making stands like the hollywood elite... their approach is much more subtle and broad, i.e. war is bad, death penalty is bad, drug abuse is bad, etc. taks

a.) kill 'em all is not modern. well, it was released over 20 years ago... b.) the "message" in the phrase kill 'em all is not about "capping the other guy with a glock, yo." it's a metaphor for "damn, we slayed 'em at the concert tonight. the fans were totally into us!" c.) metallica's next three albums actually took on a socio/political significance that most people miss... particularly war, death penalty and drug addiction. ya gotta know a bit about what you're referring to when you condemn something whitemithrandir. taks

cliff played the bass, not guitar. most bass officianados would do bodily harm to you for referring to the bass as a guitar (even a 'bass guitar'). his solo, btw, was probably anesthesia: killing pain, which was on kill 'em all. taks

uh, we're all forgetting the obvious... windows comes stock with wordpad, another editor a bit better than notepad anyway. right click on your text files (that's what notepad creates) and select the "open with..." option. works like a charm. taks

i don't play FPS games at all... as a matter of fact, i don't even like most FPRPGs... 3rd person isometric is best. curiously, what would 2nd person be? taks

red dye #2 (or was it 32?) and alar... my wife uses it, though her diabetes is controlled well enough to use sugar products within reason. i did chuckle the other day when she got a low-carb chicken sammich from carl's jr. (hardee's elsewhere) only to find that simply means "no bun" we got home and she slapped it on a bun... hehehe. taks

i think this list of dangers is created by superdosing mice with aspartame. the problem is that there isn't always a clear parallel to human indications AND, just about ANY chemical is poisonous in excess amounts. there's a threshold for nearly everything (even oxygen folks) where a substance becomes toxic. in small amounts, it ain't all that bad. taks

i do believe rap is about 8-10% of sales, country is 10-12% of sales, "rock" is anywhere from 18-25% of sales depending upon what you lump into the "rock" label... higher even if you lump in all the top-40 pop stuff as "rock" (brittany, etc.) either way, every generation laments the passing of their music as times change. people tend to "pick" their genre based off of when they spent the most time listening to music... typically in their teens. odd that every other aspect of our lives (fashion, politics, etc.) change so drastically as we age, yet our music tastes seem to last forever. it's not so much that the pop-scene (or rock, or rap, etc.) is written so much worse than music 20 years ago, it's that our personal tastes have not evolved to accomodate recent music trends. they never do... actually, the 70's are often considered some of the worst music in recent history and that was 30 years ago - with many a fan still attending old-timer rock concerts... when elvis came out in the 50's, parents were screaming about his lurid sexual connotations and the ed sullivan show refused to show his hips. elvis' music had no substance and nothing but crazed teens were into his music... yet he is now revered as the "king of rock" and is credited with changing the face of modern music. my point is that it is all relative. just depends on when you were a kid dying for your favorite artists' next release... taks

23 this october if you want to get precise, which is when lars ulrich and james hetfield got together. first album was released in 1983, called "kill 'em all". they're hardly a "screaming" band as Whitemithrandir would imply, though the days when they did have a little more screaming in their music were by far their best (IMO). bob rock (producer) changed all that with the "black" album and their product has actually become more "musical" but less appealing ever since (IMO, again). taks

he's not talking about a story volourn... he's talking about a real life murder that occured within the wrestling community. if i can find the news bit i'll post... taks

woohoo!!! the liberal does some research... well, if you read his list, it was actually directly lifted (in the same order) from a list on whyimnotright (or similar). not from the americanprogress site... NONE of his quotes above contained links that are on the latter... and, coincidentally, here's some reasonable anaylsis on all of the "flip-flops." http://www.shotinthedark.info/archives/003257.html my favorite is the chalbi incident... it turns out he may be a spy and bush is flip-flopping on him? uh, can anyone say "new evidence to support a revised opinion."? sheesh... let's see, same goes on the "nation building" quote difference from 2000 to 2003... uh, 9/11 anyone? i'm stuck on my view that searching for TWO (i said 'some') of the washington post "quotes" turned up nothing (do a search on mccain-feingold or any piece of that quote and see what comes up...) taks
-
funny how you managed to rip those quotes off of liberal websites and use them as "proof." a quick search on some of the "quotes" turns up ONLY postings on liberal blogs, actually, it looks as if you just cut and pasted that information from whyimnotright or somewhere similar. don't you think you should credit the website you cut them from rather than pretending this rhetoric is your original material? for shame... oddly, i search the post for some of those quotes and they don't turn up... now why would that be? taks
