Jessica Jones is up on Netflix. First episode was good. Not Daredevil good, but good.

Looking forward to the inevitable Jodowarsky's Dune style documentary on it. When they first said Peter Jackson wasn't doing it and then announced Del Toro I was immediately sold. Del Toro's visual style was perfectly suited to a story like that.

I've had a bunch of requests from those. Accounts are several months old but no posts. Most of my requests come from those actually.- 487 replies

I know there are a lot of Star Control fans out there (I only played 3), but anyway, Stardock announced they are making a new one. Edit: I guess thats actually old news, but they announced the founder program to allow fans input into the new one.

They have some pretty puritan anti-obscenity laws left over from the post WW2 occupation they just haven't bothered to change yet is my understanding. The culture isn't repressed, but the laws are 40s era US values.
-
Didn't del Toro work on it for like 3 years and quit over the frustration of not being allowed to start full production?
-
Crazy that used to be a fighting game franchise.

No, the French had a cooperation policy with Natives, British wanted an independent native state. Canadian government enacted the residential school program to wipe out native culture, and the trail of tears was US government policy. Familiarity breeds contempt.

Sci-Fi and Fantasy are the big one that can't seem to get ratings, which is odd because like 7 of the top 10 earning movies of all time are Sci-Fi or Fantasy. I think a lot of it has to do with how ratings are collected. Essentially live ratigns are all that count, and only old people watch stuff live anymore, hence NCIS being the top rated network TV show.

I assume people blame islam because central america is full of poor, little educated, deeply faithful christians who have been screwed by the US for decades, but you don't see Costa Rican catholics flying planes into buildings or blowing themselves up to kill civilians in other countries.

The Maldives, where the level of persecution against the Christian minority is rated1 "Extreme" - at rank #11 among all countries of the world, before Saudi Arabia? As for Malaysia, it ranks "only" #37 on that watchlist, but my own visit there a few years ago gave me the impression of a repressive society where Islam is not just the majority religion of the population, but de-facto the state religion - being unapologetically and unfairly backed by government bureaucracy, law enforcement, and legal system. Christian churches seemed to be tolerated as long as they sticked to themselves, but lived in fear of random police raids against their congregations for allegations like "subverting Islam" or "encouraging apostacy from Islam". Atheist/agnostic groups consisting of ethnic Malays (rather than foreigners) did not seem to be present at all in the public sphere, though likely existed in secret. Foreigners seemed to have more leeway, but ethnic Malays from Muslim families seemed to have little choice but to officially stay "Muslim", because apostasy meant having to live with severe discrimination and acts of retaliation from any neighbors, employers, public servants, police officers, judges, etc. they'd come in contact with for the rest of their lives. Some of the conversations with people there, even casual ones, left me with newfound appreciation for the level of religious freedom and freedom of speech that exists in the West. Of course it's possible that the people I met and information I absorbed, was unrepresentative or I misinterpreted it etc., and of course my visit to the country lasted only three weeks. But hey, you said we should base our opinion of the tolerance of Muslim societies on our own visits rather than Fox News, so here you go... -------- 1) By Open Doors, the most well-known NGO for cataloging global religious persecution of Christians. Themselves a Christian organization, but I consider it reliable. Was it Indonesia or Malaysia that banned christians from using the word Allah? Christianity came there after islam so that was just the word they used for "god", and the courts declared it illegal for christians to use the word as it was a muslim word.

The Sad Puppies were a group that believed that the Hugo awards had become more about rewarding the promotion of liberal beliefs rather than good sci-fi, as they believed in past years awards had gone to authors because they were the only female or PoC nominee, or the work had been substandard but championed liberal views, and conservative authors or more enjoyable but less intellectual works were being punished for not believing in "liberal" causes. They came out with a list of recommended nominees for the Hugos for their supporters to nominate so they would at least be a choice on the ballot. The Rabid Puppies were the "SJWs destroy everything they touch and we'll prove it" group that tried to get similar people nominated and guaranteed that the SJWs would just refuse to give out any awards rather than give any out to white conservatives. Almost all the nominees came from the Sad or Rabid puppy slates. The "SJW"s then went on a recruitment drive and signed up like double the usual voters and most awards were voted "no award" except for the like 2 or 3 categories that weren't all puppy nominees. Vox Day's supporters saw it as proof that he was right, the SJWs saw it as a victory for correct thinking. It was another GamerGate type thing where moderates on both sides were drowned out and any point either side had was lost in the quest for victory, and anyone not personally invested didn't really give a crap.

I think he was in charge of the Rabid Puppies

I guess I just need to try one out to see what the fuss is about

Ok, so since I've never experienced keyboard fatigue and never worn out a keyboard, seems the main selling point of mechanical keyboards is they're loud. Doesn't seem like its worth the extra money. Jesus, how much do you have to be using a keyboard for your hands to get tired from pressing the keys?
-
I've been seeing a lot of talk about mechanical keyboards in PC gaming forums and such lately, but I don't know what kind of benefit you get that makes the extra hundred dollars worth it. Can anyone explain? Increased durability seems to be a big selling point, but I've never had a regular keyboard die on me, so that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Does it say who is involved anywhere? Any chance of Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy returning?

Has a coldness dial, 0 is off 5 causes ice in liquids and frosts veggies, we keep it on 3, he turns it to 0. This was like the 6th time he's done it but the first we didn't catch it within a couple hours. Took until now to realize that I can pull the dial off. Ever since the youngin' around here has been walking, we've had to pull the knobs off the front of the stove whenever it's not in use. His persistence in trying to blow up the house is a little unnerving. In other news, we're nuts enough after dealing with this one (and assorted failures along the way) to be expecting Youngin' the Sequel next May. Everyone says the 2nd is easier. Everyone is lying. In some ways it is, because all the stuff that scared the crap out of you with the first is no longer scary, but now all those little periods you could escape, like naptimes and such don't exist because the first one has a different schedule. I had just reached a kind of equilibrium with my first when the 2nd was born and screwed that all up. Been an exhausted wreck of anger and frustration ever since. Then again I'm an introvert and being able to get alone time only at the expense of sleep leaves me incredibly drained.

Looks like they're prioritizing downloadable games.

Slept until noon and subsisted on tea. Wife got home and is acting like its a regular day and keeps asking me to fetch things and do chores while she chills on facebook.

A console gamer friend at work was looking at it and complaining it looked "dumbed down" I thought that was PCGMR talk. -
Speaking of which... is it just me or does ? When May said he disappeared while on vacation with her and it was the same time everyone started turning into inhumans I first started suspecting it. Dunno what happened to make him go kill crazy though. I'm sure they will explain satifactorily as they did with Ward.

We need another world war and the draft. Then again... Drafting SJWs gave us Mussolini.
