I agree, though I think Peter should have been less "generic angsty teen", and more "nerd". And it needed more shots of Lizard in his labcoat.

Checked out In Bruges on Netflix. Made me want to visit Bruges.

Saw Chronicle. I loved it, but think it could have been better served as a traditional flick instead of "found footage". Some of the sequences worked really well, and the telekinesis angle allowed them to film things in a way that makes it closer to a traditional flick (which is why it worked as well as it did). Overall definitely worth watching.

Been on a Stratovarius kick lately. Some of my favorites: Korpiklaani is fun too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ And Dethklok. A parody band so good they're also the best band in the genre. (love the video)

Did you see the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven? MUCH better. Some of the things I headscratched over in the theatrical are much clearer with the extra 40 minutes or so. Thats a movie I need to rewatch. I hear nothing but endless love for that flick but I just thought it was kinda ok. Possibly just expectations were too high.

Its just personal preference. To enjoy a movie I need a plot, which it lacked.. The only thing that kept me going was the mystery of who One Eye was, which was alluded to in the synopsis and the trailer, but never touched on in the film. Trailer used words to describe one eye, Slave, Warrior, God. Synopsis referred to him as supernaturally strong. Early discussion inferred he may have been Odin, so Odin hooking up with some Crusaders seemed like gold to me. In the end I felt cheated and wanted my time back. As for being mad, not so much. Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet and I failed at that. Calling a Canadian an American is like calling a Kiwi an Aussie. We get kind of offended but like to play it up as more than it is.

I'll let that go...

It was just grossly misrepresented in the trailers. When you pack every single action scene in the movie into the trailer, then have a 2 hour movie with 3 minutes of action, thats not representative of the film. So I went into it expecting badass viking flick, I got people dying of dehydration on a boat for 40 minutes.

Iron Man 2 wasn't nearly as bad as people say it was. Yes it wasn't as good as Iron Man 1, but it wasn't a bad movie at all. If Iron Man was an 8, IM2 was a 7. Average age of comic book readers last I checked was 31. People can stop using the "they're for kids" now. Much as some of us get offended by the whole "video games are for kids" nonsense. The age of readers is actually a problem for comic publishers because they can't get kids to start reading. They have their audience that has grown up with comics and thats about it, the only new readers are the children of comic book fans who get their kids into it. They can't write the comics for younger readers because it will alienate the largest portion of their current audience, but they can't attract kiddies with the mature themes of their current fare. Anyway, I'm hoping they make Mandarin a magic based villain instead of tech based. That was the best part of the Iron Man animated movie. Making a tech based hero's archenemy magic based just makes sense to me for the whole magic vs science thing.

Well so far they've done a fantastic job adapting the books. What changes they've made either were mostly unimportant, or made sense for either medium or budget reasons. Probably the only adaption I haven't been pissed off at at some point (I'm looking at you The Walking Dead")

The trailer made it look really good, the movie itself was slow and boring with odd visuals. Trailer = Badass Viking Flick, Movie = Arthouse Mind****.

Currently re-reading Wizards First Rule. You could almost make it a drinking game. Take a shot every time you read the phrase "white hot need" or any variation of such. Eagerly anticipating the A Dance With Dragons release in paperback in August. Don't have the cash or the shelf space to buy hardcovers.

This is what I was psyched for:

Renegades was pretty much the best GI Joe cartoon ever. Then it was sadly canned so they could focus on the movie, which then got pushed back, so by the time it comes out Renegades could have had 2 more seasons. I heard rumors of a Resolute adult-swim type series too.

I loved John Carter. Probably the closest I'll get to a big budget He-Man film anyway. It was very well made and you could tell the director was passionate about the source material Saw Iron Sky as well, loved it. Had a huge ****eating grin on my face through the whole thing. Not for everyone, but it didn't disappoint at all.

They killed him off originally because Jon Chu was a GI Joe fan and thought the first one sucked and the best way to go forward was to kill everyone and start fresh. Dwayne Johnson playing Roadblock meant that Flint couldn't be the leader because no way was The Rock playing second banana to a nobody. Turns out killing Duke didn't sit well with focus groups and Channing Tatum is some sort of box office draw since he had two successful movies this year. Add to that that overseas people are sucking up the 3d like its going out of style (please let it be going out of style) judging from the large overseas gross from various 3d re-releases and such, so they figured pushing it back for 9 months to allow for Channing Tatum's return in a 3rd one and to double their overseas gross was a good investment. Thats my understanding at least.

Aren't Ridley Scott directors cuts always better? You would think the studios would figure that out by now and just let him release the DC into theaters. The Kingdom of Heaven DC would have been a best picture contender.

One thing the japanese are good at is making CG entirely lifeless.

DS-III First Impression = wow!
Oerwinde replied to Idlemind's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
Snagged the Xbox version on the cheap yesterday. Plays a lot better than the PC version, but the text is unreadable on a 27 inch TV. Couldn't figure out how to activate my defensive ability because I didn't know what the icon was because it was so small. -
Only good news if you think Ryan Reynolds makes a good Connor Macleod.

Me and the missus both have the Galaxy S2 and we both love it. Only thing I miss from my blackberry is only having to charge it every 4 days instead of every night.

I'm in the boat that thinks they should just abolish government recognition of marriage. Civil Unions for all. Most marriages end in the signing of the marriage contract anyway, just do things exactly the same only sign a civil union contract instead. Churches can still perform marriage ceremonies, but the marriage isn't recognized by the state unless they enter into a civil union. Churches can decline to marry gays as much as they want, as their decisions have no legal repercussions. If the gays want a religions ceremony, find a church that will allow it. Religious freedom is upheld, equal rights maintained. IMO its the simplest solution to the whole mess and I don't see why it isn't discussed. As for gays adopting/having children, there is no reason not to allow it as long as the same standards apply to them as to straights.

Cartoon/Anime/Comic settings you would like to see a rpg set in
Oerwinde replied to C2B's topic in Computer and Console
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a crpg and is actually pretty close to what you describe. There are a large number of playable marvel heroes, it's party based, plays a bit like Dungeon Seige 3, there's a basic inventory, characters can be assigned skills and stat points as they level, there are areas to have conversations (though dialogue is not a big game feature) and tinker with the party between missions. MUA made it to the PC, MUA2 didn't unfortunately. http://uk.ign.com/ga...iance/pc-762708 I thought of Ultimate Alliance as more of an action game. Skills and character levels to not an RPG make. The gameplay was like Double Dragon with superpowers. I enjoyed it, but it was in no way an RPG. -
