Mafia II
I know. The PC pirates, on the other hand... Can't really blame them if they don't want to bother with steam. Not saying that's the only reason they'll do it ofcourse, just as a thought. We're not having another DRM discussion flame war, not in my thread. The manual gear shifting was really cool in the original, it would be a shame to lose it.

Mafia II
There's a refreshingly large amount of environmental interaction as well. I like people putting up their hands when you aim a gun at them.

Mafia II
The console people aren't going to turn to PC piracy just to play Mafia II(or have gaming capable PCs), they will most likely just ignore it if the reviews are bad.

Another Modern RPG, please
Well beyond it being grimdark, containing various races employing an increasingly implausible array of weapons and something about god emperors. Oh, and this:

Mafia II
You make a convincing point. So back to Mafia II, apparently at least the 360 version is inferior to the PC one in terms of performance... so PC superiority has been confirmed once more.
-
Mafia II
I bet they're all inferior But I can sympathize.

Mafia II
Go play the original then, it's on Steam and it has a nice story. Also, all the open world stuff is optional, you can just go from mission to mission if you want.

Mafia II
It is pretty short, but I don't think most people are looking for story in a demo. The graphics are great and the optimization is superb.

Mafia II
The demo is out ignore it at you own peril.

Scary/horror games

Scary/horror games
So do we categorize the games as just creepy, scary and horrifying?
-
What are you playing now
maybe we should have a separate let's play thread...

Another Modern RPG, please
It's just that RPG and horror aren't exactly a natural mix. You might be better of with a mystery RPG with horror elements in the story...

Scary/horror games
Sanitarium is awesome. Add Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth to that list. I guess Cryostasis is pretty scary as well. And Alien vs Predator, especially the second one.

Another Modern RPG, please
Having a variety of different conflicts/problems/tasks and different ways to solve them is always good. I don't know why everyone is so hung up on the "modern". While it may not be all that common in RPGs, it is pretty common in other genres. It is mundane, with concrete limits and still prone to a billion cliches. Why not take an existing setting and turn it on it's head ala Planescape? Why not explore some less used time period in a globetrotting adventure? Why not go crazy and make the setting dynamic in a choice-driven narrative?
