  1. Also, there's no reason why they couldn't just remove securom like they have done for other games(IIRC). Everyone who has ever wanted to pirate it, probably already has and securom didn't even help against that in the first place...
  2. Yeah, I know. I was going to mention this in the Mass Effect thread, but couldn't find a link. All I can say is too little, too late. It should have been included with game in the first place. If someone is not going to buy the game because of DRM, I don't see this changing anything, it's nothing more than a cheap band-aid for a much bigger problem. Bottom line is if you want to play the game you either play it once and forget about it or use other methods to play it if you want to install it more than three times.
  3. Not a game I would ever be likely to try, but I'll keep that in mind. Other first-person game have bothered me, too, but this can usually resolved by turning off the option that makes your view bob up and down as your character walks. Yeah, a lot of people get motion sickness with games. I sometimes get it with movies when the view zooms in or out really fast or the camera gets yanked around a lot(Blair Witch Project etc.)
  4. The temple is Egyptian, if anything. It features hieroglyphs and a picture of Anubis(along with smokey). The monster is more of a tool or a mechanism than something that is in charge of anything. They have referred to it as a defense mechanism for the temple and now as something that judges people(Mr Eko and now Ben). As far as we know the Others are in charge and take orders from Jacob. Christian(Jack's father) may or may not speak for Jacob(Jacob said "help me" to Locke when he first went into the cabin with Ben). We don't really know anything about Claire at this point.
  5. Ah yes, the Linux heaven where you have to compile your own afterlife. It's hard to get started and a bit buggy at times but it makes it up by being ultra customizable.
  6. And if you read it really hard, you'll find out that . Weird, eh? I can't say that the puzzle part was particularly great. It required pinpoint jumps and timing resulting in major frustration. Also, having to use the actual puzzle to get the remaining pieces in the first world(that is world 2) is just pretentious.
  7. I find the new skill runes system very exciting. You can check out a presentation about the various skill systems they tried and the final one they chose at gametrailers. It gives some good insight into their development process(Skill horadric cube ) and shows the awesomeness that is rune-enchanted teleport(think Nightcrawler).
  8. Ben is a really interesting character and I would hate it if they just had him roll over and be Locke's cabin boy. I feel that Ben has always done what he felt was needed and as much as he could get away with. He doesn't care if people get hurt along the way, but also doesn't go out of his way to hurt them(except Penny and he couldn't kill her anyway).
  9. It's not so much a prequel as it is a spinoff and a soapy drama spinoff at that. (From what I have heard) "The Plan" will be the real prequel, explaining what the Cylons and Cavil were doing while Galactica was doing it's own thing.
  10. That being said, I'm not going to watch it after the travesty that was the BSG ending. Ronald D Moore and me, we are done.
  11. If you turn off your internet, it won't be using up the activations.
  12. No. But I've never watched an awards show of any sort in my life nor will I ever. I don't get why anyone would care who wins what anyway. This. The shows are no longer about the awards it's just a media circus.
  13. It all makes sense, I was just disappointed. That's why I compared it to Donnie Darko. You watch the film and you have your own interpretation and all's right with the world, it was a great experience. Then you watch the directors cut which apparently attempts to give an official explanation but the creators interpretation is kind of a let down and you're left with a sour taste. "Really, that's what it's supposed to be about? Whatever dude." That thread you linked to had a message from the creator stating he doesn't comment on what the game is "about", because it's not his role, but there really isn't much room for interpretation when the epilogue pretty much spells it out for you. Imagine reading and enjoying a novel, and then in the last few pages the writer talks directly to the reader and explains how the events of the story were actually a metaphor for blah blah blah.... Which is why I recommend not bothering with the epilogue. Of course loads of people play the epilogue, declare the creator a genius and then go back and analysis every bit of the game to see how it fits in with the "official" interpretation, so maybe that's more your thing. Alternatively ignore the story stuff and play it just for the puzzles. I pretty much agree. At the end of the last level you think you understand what it's about and feel pretty good for figuring it out, but then in the epilogue the "real" meaning rears it's ugly head and I feel like the developer one-upped me. It's like he wanted to make two stories, but only had money for one so he stuck them together. EDIT: I just linked the analysis so that everyone could consider the "real" story, it's not all that obvious. After suffering through all those puzzles you deserve to know the ultimate truth.
  14. And this is why I didn't like the epilogue. As mentioned on that page, you have a story about , and then you play the epilogue and it's all like Yeah, I think he might have gone a bit too far with the art and different interpretations thing. I like stuff that makes sense in the end.
  15. If Portal made you go "which way is up", then Alien vs Predator 2 with alien will make your head asplode. Maybe everyone who bought it is in deep though, pondering over Braid's deep meaning...

    Akinator

Well, it has been starved on a diet of anime and video games. Some classic literature will probably do wonders for it.
  17. Umm, so did anyone actually play it? Is it good? Also here's a detailed analysis that compared the story of Braid to the

Protips: Try clicking "yes" or "no" and nothing else. Try yourself or some internet memes.

    Akinator

Here's something fun to waste a few minutes on: Akinator It's basically a 20 questions guessing game, but it learns from it's users so it's super smart.
  20. That's pretty doubtful. Yeah, that's the joke of the day.
  21. Yeah, you'd think that they would learn something from the Spore debacle... 3 install limit is two less than Bioshock...

  23. Oh do tell! Us non-initiated want to get a piece of the nonsensical pie. You'd probably have to read it in context to see why it would bother someone. Maybe they based it on one of their PnP campaigns?

  25. I quite liked this episode. The PoV episodes can be really good if done well. It's nice to see some more of Adelle's background and see that she really is a flesh and blood person with problems and needs, not the ice queen she appears to be. The Echo parts were also surprisingly good, Eliza didn't stick out like a sore thumb(except the dominatrix crap). Also, good job ruining the Ballard/Mellie stuff, it was going to come out anyway, but the way they did it was super awkward. I agree that the Sierra "mission" was pretty pointless and overly drawn out. It was almost like FOX demanded some badass spy-stuff to keep people interested. Also, all the hand-to-hand fight scenes have been really weird and long. Who the hell picks up a piece of broken glass to use as a knife, I can understand it as a weapon of opportunity, but the glass shard knife battle was ridiculous. They make a big deal out of the "true purpose" of the Dollhouse, is it to create the perfect human or something? It doesn't really seem that important to me, but whatever.
