So you don't sleep?

Patience is a virtue. I also have a bunch of stuff always installed.

I don't. Steam is just another form of DRM, albeit a slightly more attractive one than most. I agree that Steam is just another form of DRM, but I think it is less attractive than most. Most games of the past few years have still used CD activation keys and I find those to be far more attractive as a form of DRM. I love the Steam one because when I reformat my computer getting all my Steam games back is uber-easy. It's easier to redownload 50GB of games than to reinstal it from CDs? For me, totally. Having to dig out the discs and then swap them and have it install for an hour is way more of a hassle than setting Steam to download and doing whatever in the mean time. 50GB would take about 12h with my connection over Steam. Installing 50GB worth of games from my DVDs would be max 2 hours... And speaking about misplacing CDs/DVDs??? Seriously I have over 200 of them for 4 different gaming systems, and I have never ever misplaced any... And when i want install or run some old game, I can find anything in 15-20 seconds... All you need is good system for sorting it... The aren't misplaced, I just need to go through the shelves and find it. That's 2 hours of disc swapping and drive spinning instead of 12 hours of sleep/playing another game/surfing the web. Where's your hurry?

I posted it on the previous page.

I wouldn't know, I wasn't around back then. Also, I don't like JRPGs.(Except Lufia 2 and Tales of Phantasia)

No game can ever live up to the hype. At least Portal had something to it, the Bioshock hype was disgusting IMO. Still, it's not the game's fault that the hype gets overwhelming, it's the crazy fanboys, the press and marketing people.

As I said in another thread, Portal is really good at what it does. It's a cute quirky puzzle game with an interesting mechanic(Portals) that tells the story of a lonely AI stuck in an underground complex. It's not trying to be anything more and it has been polished to a mirror finish. I don't think anyone(save a few raving madmen) is saying that it is the best game ever, it's just a shiny gem in a sea of uniform gray/brown shooters. It's different, it's quirky and it's fun. It's kind of like the Dr. Horrible of videogames.

The first 5 episodes are pretty much crap, after that it picks up quite a bit. It could still be better though...
-
Apparently they have 13 episodes, but FOX will only air 12. The real problem is that the 13th episode features Felicia Day(Penny from Dr Horrible) At least it will be on the DVD... EDIT: This information comes to you via Felicia Day's twitter and E! Online

Braid seems nice, from what I played of the demo, but it doesn't, in any way, compare to the perfection that was Chip's Challenge. Chip's challenge was awesome, it's right up there with Supaplex on the awesome puzzle games chart. Why don't you blame your friends instead of a poor innocent game, Kaftan? If they don't make them as good as World of Goo, it's their fault, not WoG's.
-
I guess I'll comment on Braid after I've played it. Are you also saying that World of Goo was overhyped/bad/sin against mankind? I played it and loved it, it's a great little quirky puzzle game with nice music and interesting visuals. That's all that it is and because of that it's great.

I'll believe it when I see it. It's kind of funny that I love Diablo II which is pretty much a grindfest, but dislike MMOs. Maybe something to do with the people thing... Diablo co-op was super fun. Have you tried playing MMOs with friends? It does help for you misanthropes that are incapable of dealing with regular human beings. I don't really have any MMO-crazy friends. Also, if "regular human beings" are like most people in MMOs then remind me never to visit your country/city.
-
You seem to be on a warpath, Kaftan. Also, this thread is not about Portal(which is super special awesome FYI). Have you haters actually played Braid or are you just slamming it because you "know" that is is bad?
-
Time reversing and a supposed deep meaning behind the game that people discussed for a long time after the game.
-
So there are levels after the final level and I shouldn't play them?
-
I'm really looking forward to it. Damn 360 timed exclusive crap, I hope Jonathan Blow learned his lesson. The hype was a bit overwhelming when it first came out, but I'm sure it's an awesome game.

First gameplay footage. Looks pretty much like a reskinned Bioshock.

Conservapedia is literally the worst thing on the internet.

Ugh, I saw it when it came out. Please don't give it any more coverage. I'll stick with uncyclopedia and Encyclopedia Dramatica. -
Woah, that was awesome. Ben just blew Caesar away, good riddance and omg Ilana and gang got posessed. The ending was also awesome, the actress who played Alex did a great job, didn't see that coming.

So anyway, will you all play it? Will it move the MMO genre forward like The Old Republic promises or will it be another grindfest with pretty graphics?

I don't know if they even release the numbers. What the server merging shows is that they expected a lot more players and got much less. They started out with 800k users and ended up with 300k users three months later. If they didn't bomb, then they certainly didn't meet their expectations. EDIT: I remember reading something about how many people you needed to keep a MMO floating, but I can't find it anymore. It all depends on the expectations.
-
They recently cut the number of servers because there were no players, people on podcasts described them as "ghost towns". Wikipedia says: Which is way less than AoC.
