  1. Whether you think children should be allowed to play violent games or not, does this justify outright banning of all those games and their production? We don't ban alcohol or cigarettes even though they are also illegal for under age people. This is quite an overreaction. Sure kids can get 18+ rated games just as they can get alcohol, cigarettes and porn. That's where they parents come in, not the state. EDIT: I agree that killing someone is never ok, it can be justified(self defense etc.), but that doesn't make it ok.
  2. You people are weird, I very rarely remember any dreams.
  3. Censorship would be not publishing it or changing/removing the offending parts. Hauling you off in the night is a bit more extreme than that.
  4. I'm indifferent, does that count?
  5. I thought it was the Jews that they came for. It's really funny how they made the player models in Team Fortress 2 act like metal when shot. Also, here's something to break all the tension:
  6. The gameplay video looks pretty solid. I mostly agree about Just Cause 1, though.
  7. It got boring after a while, but it was still fun to jack a helicopter and fly around the map, maybe drop out at some point and go ice some dudes. The final mission was also super crazy: you had to plant a C4 charge ON the bad guy as both of you were free falling out of a cargo plane.
  8. Just Cause 2 will be a sequel to a not-very-well-known open world third person action game Just Cause. The first didn't really stand out with a great story or gameplay, what it did have, however, was a very large world and the ability to hijack jet planes out of the air with your grappling hook. You also had a parachute that could also be used to paraglide behind cars with your grappling hook. In a word it was crazy fun. Just Cause 2 should come out this fall and it looks even more crazy/awesome, as you can see in this 10 minute gameplay video.
  9. If they see God of War 3, they will probably ban computers and TVs as well. Super violent gifs here and here. Fun for the whole family!
  10. People complain on the internet. Stop the presses!
  11. So what are the chances of them getting the law passed?
  12. Looks like they finally got what they wanted. Link (translated from German via Google Translate) Can any local-ish people elaborate?
  13. I would love to see real flying dragons, but I think that it would be very hard to do with the current system. The wing buffet was a great idea, but also one the most annoying thing in the whole game.
  14. Most people are complaining about the art design and the criticism is pretty spot on IMO. It won't make or break the game, but it would be nice if Guybrush actually looked like he did in any of the previous games.
  15. You can get better quality version of the gameplay video on gametrailers: part 1 and part 2. It looks pretty nice, but I have to agree that the player was pretty clumsy and unimaginative.
  16. The dragon was like a turret kicking things and shooting fireballs. It's like BG2 where the poor dragons were confined to their little lairs. I can't really think of a good way to do it, though. You either go all-out with some God of War/Shadow of the Colossus style climb and stab action or just make them big and awkward versions of normal enemies.
  17. Don't you think it will scare the poor console gamers?
  18. Yup Blizzard is way cooler than these chumps. They have their own 'con that is probably already sold out.
  19. It would instead be better to use another stereotype? Because, let's be honest, that's where the writers of the SC franchise are at. A less used stereotype would be better than an overused one. Just doing missions without any personal story was totally ok in my book.
  20. God of War and Max Payne to name a few. If the conflict is manufactured just to get on with the killing, it's not a good conflict. I'm not saying that I want games where the protagonist cries for a week and then goes on with his boring life. It would just be interesting to someone accept the loss without violently lashing out with petty spite.
  21. I guess we'll have to see. I'm just bored/annoyed with the angry guy stereotype. If it's there just to get the story going again, it's fine. I think it annoys me because there are quite a few characters who lose any kind of rational thinking and only do crazy stuff because they are really really angry. Can't you have a game where the angry dude just lets it go without killing a million people? Revenge won't bring his daughter back or even give him any real closure...
  22. I said it's just as bad, not the same. Maybe he finds out who killed his daughter in the first hour and starts taking down the terrorist organization that is planning to use nerve gas to kill all the puppies on the planet, but I doubt it. Do you really want a Kratos Fisher who is really pissed all the time?
  23. Angry doesn't equal emo. A murdered daughter is a legitimate gripe. And it's also up there in the "Top 10 motivations" right after "village burned down" and "mentor killed". Being super angry is no better than being just emo. It would get a bit tiresome after he angrily cracks the 30th skull on a toilet bowl while asking who killed his daughter.
  24. They have redesigned the site. It's all pretty white with very manly blood splatter and dragons.
  25. But will it have spaceship combat? I wonder how many variations of the Millenium Falcon can they think of? Quick, to the Purple Canary!
