  1. Probably just more Imagine Babyz, Petz and weird teen stuff like last year:
  2. It's that time of the year again, the Electronic three strikes and this time they're all packing waggle. The first press conference by Microsoft starts at 10.00 AM pacific standard time, which is in about 2h at the posting of this thread. After that there will be EA's presser at 2 PM and Ubisoft's at 5 PM. That's all for today. More information available on the official site. I'll try to post the links to live streams as they become available.
  3. So HBO has a teaser trailer-ish thing up on their site that looks cool but uses some horrid incarnation of Flash to play.
  4. Looked exactly like FO3 to me, if there's one thing that Obsidian doesn't do, it's improve the animations
  5. The Force Unleashed II CG trailer shows that giant shoulder pads are still in.
  6. Read the instructions/readme/manual?
  7. Mostly the bad graphics and enemy animations, but I guess Bioshock had all of that as well. The Unreal Engine is not helping 2k at all. Ugh.
  8. Why do you say that? Because that's what the trailer looked like?
  9. So... it's a shooter from around 2005? Yay!
  10. Reticle spread is a bad way to convey the RPG-ness anyway, so good riddance.
  11. Good one. I'm bracing myself for the inevitable fallout from the Alpha Protocol review.
  12. While it's not directly representative of the gameplay, it does give quite a bit of background information, story and some hints on the various weapons and augs.
  13. Soooo... basically you went onto the "bash DS" bandwagon without having a clue what you were talking about? Classy... Why don't you join the AP bashing bandwagon too... "It's a bugridden piece of crap with 2003 graphics! Never played or seen it, but the reviews said it, and they can't be wrong, right!" Yup, because I had forgotten the somewhat more extensive backstory that is in books scattered around the game, I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. DS was a Diablo clone, plain and simple. @LadyCrimson: I'm just personally bored with the elves and dwarves, swords and sorcery kind of fantasy setting. I don't want post-apocalyse or zombies, I want something unique like Planescape, Anachronox or Beyond Good And Evil were. You can still make a good game in a more traditional setting, but I'd rather have a bad game in an awesome setting than a ok one in another cookie cutter Tolkien knock-off.
  14. Alpha Protocol 3D animated movie coming next?
  15. I guess I played it too long ago to remember most of it. Will read up on that.
  16. The punchline is that it doesn't really have a setting beyond "generic fantasy" so if they want to make something out of it, they will pretty much have to make it from scratch. @Slowtrain: I'm not really complaining about the DS setting, other than it being yet another generic fantasy world, but about the baggage that the DS IP has. There are two mediocre Diablo clones, one horrible spin-off in space and a horrible movie attached to it. The name doesn't really have any positive connotations associated with it, the best you can hope is that no one will remember those any more. Having the Obsidian name on it will probably help a bit, but most people don't know/care who Obsidian is.
  17. Yes, but getting the DS license is worse than making an original IP, considering all the baggage that the DS license comes with. Maybe if Obsidian didn't try to make a third person shooter/stealth game/RPG, they would come up with something cool and unique... I guess it's mostly the publisher's decision, but still.
  18. Not exactly inspiring. "If we make less ambitious game, people will care less if we fail!" At some point trying to make something big and failing is better than crapping out one mediocre game after another.
  19. Nothing like beating some goblins with a hoe.
  20. Blizzard is making it, chances are it will come out after DS3. It's going to compete because they are both hack and slash RPGs, unless Obsidian radically changes the formula, which I doubt. @Llyranor: IWD was not a Diablo clone, Dungeon Siege was.
  21. Is it really worse than the sneaking animation, because that is pretty bad.
  22. If anyone wants to get a feel for DS, try the demo if it still works with modern operating systems. The second one has a demo as well.
  23. So Obsidian will have Chris Taylor bring them coffee and open doors? Great! Make him suffer extra hard for SupCom 2.
  24. Didn't the press release say that this was going to be a Obsidian-GPG joint project?
